Should He Stay In Nigeria Or Move To UK? by kktbm: 10:59am On May 17, 2021
Good dey guys..... I was discussing with a friend of mine. He wants to move out of the country(uk) but his parents are trying to cajole him to stay ( he’s from a well to do family and they are financially capable)

His plan is after nysc he would go for masters and find his way.

He is 21 and currently serving (he’s field is IT)
But the issue is that his parent are trying to fine tune his head to stay (he’s the last born)

Their excuse is that
1) you would do menial jobs there
2) there is nothing there
3) even if you get a good job there, it’s difficult to rise as a black man
4) you will be lonely

Their main bone of contention is that there is nothing there.
Note: his dad and 4 other siblings out of 5 studied in the uk tho.

My friend doesn’t even want to stay atall, most of his friend are in the uk, he doesn’t have friends in Nigeria except a few. He doesn’t like going out because he said his mind is not in Nigeria. If you see him ehn you will know that he’s depressed. All he wants is to move to the uk.

He’s not even a badboy he doesn’t smoke, drink
He’s not a womanizer

(2 of his siblings have been in the UK SINCE early 2000’s and are already citizens)

The dad also isn’t saying he should not go, but after service, he should get a job first probably with Goverment (due to job security because his dad retired with the government) then work 2-3 years before going for his master.

His point his that he wants to go now that the funds and everything is intact. What if something should happen in future nko?

My advice for him his to leave immediately after service after all he has siblings who are in their early 40’s there to put him through and also a lot of family friends there

What would you advice

Tell him to japa without thinking twice. Which kind yeye Federal job. Even Buhari that has federal job is traveling out anyhow.

I think his parent doesn't want him to go because they can't afford to have all or almost all their children outside Nigeria. They don't want to be lonely

He can go to UK since he already has family and friends there but bear in mind that it is tough being black outside Africa. Wishing you the best.

Please don't quote me if you have not smelt MMA before. Thank you.

They are right, there is nothing there for him in the UK. Nigerians are stars and are doing well at home so why run away?

Why abandon your homeland for silly dreams and the harsh environment of the UK?

There is no time at all he needs to leave this country .at least their economy there is better than ours,But its sad seeing your son leaving you. I understand how the parents feel about their child. after all they have money.

Nah eh! No qualms
This is so unsophisticated

From the look of things.
He is a mummy's boy..
Truth be told
He might not make it over there in UK
People like donjazzy, Dbanj, Davido and burna
Relocated back to niger from there
Cos life en no shaa dey easy there

Maybe he should first
Enter street here for niger then get better orientation (street wise)
Before considering leaving niger
