Green Snake Caught Up In Window Net. by tasceige(m): 12:16pm On May 19, 2021 |
I woke up this morning to a whatsapp message from my mum, this also includes pictures of snakes caught up in a net and killed with a 2/2. The windows were shut, however there seems to be a mystery on how the snake got into the net. Well, my mum is a Christian and you know what that means, not to think that we recently had a celebration over the weekend where food got prepared in lil quantity. The moment i got the picture, I took a screenshot to go check on my google photos (Yes I'm using Android ). I zoomed the picture with the headshot, took a screenshot and did a lens search on Google. The result returned to be an Eastern Natal green Snake (Non venomous). link here https://southlandssun.co.za/84902/can-identify-natal-green-snake/ On the other hand, looking at the length of the snake, I did a photo search and the result came out to be a Boomslang snake (slightly and slowly venomous if there is anything like that) but live 80% mostly on trees meanwhile we had no trees around. link here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomslang While checking through the boomslang snakes I saw a comparison of the boomslang and green mamba which apparently is highly venomous. Looking at the head structure of net caught snake, it seems to be one. I once read on this forum that best way to identify a venomous snake and non-venomous snake is the head structure, eye structure and coloration. But who wants to find out? Guess which snake came up when I checked for "thin green snake with yellow belly" , I found "Rough Green Snake" and this fits perfectly well with the net caught snake, but then the question would be, what is a non-venomousĀ North AmericanĀ colubrid snake doing in Africa not to talk of Nigeria? Conclusion: Who is going to wait to find out the species of a particular snake once sighted and posing a threat when we have over 17.14% of all snakes on earth to be venomous. Who keeps snakes as pets anyway. What do you think?

You might need to invest in fumigating the area. Snakes are none to hide for very long time in holes and crevices. Please stay safe. |

I nor understand this guy.... That's a green zamfara king cobra.... Very easy to identify by it's tail. These rare species are found mostly in a swampy area where they breed and wait patiently for their prey. They're also blessed with high toxic venom which is the 4th deadliest venom in sub-saharan Africa. Once the Green Zamfara King Cobra it's threatened, it raises itself from the ground, look straight to your eyes and hiss as seen in the first and second picture. They're not aggressive like their Adamawa Spiting Cobra relatives, but their venom are so potent that it can kill a full grown man in less than 35 minutes. 4 Likes 1 Share |

True, it's quite hard to tell the Boomslang apart from the non-venomous green snakes and yeah I agree with you, it's better to be safe than sorry This life too sweet abeg |
