Scholes was a playmaker. Lampard and Gerrard have similar strengths in getting forward from midfield positions but aren’t as strong behind play.

These are two different roles. Thinking quality playmakers are rarer than quality midfielders who can get forward and score.

The key issue with Lamps and Gerrard is that they are more or less the same player. Both like to drift into spaces off the front and both are players that have most to offer going forward. Lampard runs off the ball, Gerrard typically runs with it.

The best players who could have played alongside Gerrard or Lampard in the England team was Scholes but for whatever reasons was completely overlooked by Eriksson, Capello and Hodgson.

I knew that that Bailly wouldn’t be up to scrap. Hes so unaware of his surroundings. He loses concentration often. Pair him with another average defense and the result is mayhem.

I expect him to be injured for most of next season. That’s why I didn’t want his contract renewed. He’s just looking to make a buck.
