What i do is book Lagos to Toronto (which is the major and cheapest hub) with the major airline, and then separately book from Toronto to my final destination with a local airline like Air Canada or West-jet.

You can book it (with Expedia or other booking sites) before you leave after taking into consideration the dates and time you would be departing for your final destination. You can reschedule easily if there are any changes

You don’t need to make hotel reservations for visa applications.

Hello, please do you know if this will apply to supervisa cause they usually take longer than a visitor visa. Please reply

Hi.
There is an email you can send use so they prioritise your visa application based on exception (check their website for categories of exempted people.

I sent the mail to them and I got a response in about 10days.

Confirmation of application 8 Feb 2021

I didnt need to do biometrics as I have done few years back.

I sent prioritization email to IRCC 24 March 2021
I got my passport request last week Friday.

My passport was returned in December 2020 with a note that my application is still under review and my passport will be requested once that is done. Has anyone here gotten a visa approval within this time frame? Do I really need to follow up on the application? Are they still treating backlog as far back as last year Feb-Mar?

She’s your sister.
You can apply for authorization to travel!
I don’t think it matters that she wasn’t the one that invited you.

I have. I submitted my application in April, completed biometrics in October, got my approval in February and receive a request for my passport 2 days ago.
The timeline is super wonky.
If I were you, if you qualify, I’d apply for authorization to travel. That may make them pay attention to your application. Otherwise, maybe just be patient. Eventually, they’ll get around to responding.
