I went back again and the staffs there said they have tried their best that they don't know what to do again, lol ( I was shocked- Imagine, are fidelity staffs this Incompetent?). This particular issue has been on for like a month but still fidelity bank staffs couldn't resolve an online banking issue. Quite suprising.

Please Good people of God how can I resolve this issue because it is totally frustrating?

Go to any Fidelity bank ATM and register your new number for online transaction it will work.

It'll be preferable to change your phone number on your bvn and bank account and after 24hrs it will be resolved. Visit another branch of Fidelity bank different from the one you've been complaining at

open new account with the new number
move your money there.

It wont work like that.....I had similar issue too. The solution is to get another ATM card, then you OTP Will be sent to you new number.

Ask for the branch manager and be serous about it

If those at the customer care doesn't know what to do, the branch manager should be able to help

I am not the OP, but I have same issue with the OP and its almost 2years now

The people you're talking to are just tellers or customer care. Send an email to to them stating the issue. It will be channeled to IT unit and they'll change it. The number they changed on the interface did not change on their db so when you do transactions, otp is sent to the number on db which is still your old number.

the same things happened to me for several years but finally it has been rectify

Do you even know the essence of OTP? Don't talk about things you don't know.

Go to the bank, request for data update form, input your new number and also request that alerts (OTP) be sent to you via mail only

Go to the Bank you enrolled your BVN( (If its different from Fidelity), have them update your new phone number from the old, then go to Fidelity and ask your new number be updated on your account and also on their SMS alert platform..

had similar issue with access bank, as an ordinary man that don’t like stress had to open a new bank account with zenith and continue using my atm to do my online payments.

If you opened an account with a bank before Fidelity. Try to get back to your previous bank and ask for an update on your BVN details (phone number)

Better and easier....because changing BVN number, filling update forms, bla bla bla...... will not solve it, as long as the ATm card is still carrying the old line.

You have to wait for like 2weeks or 1month before CBN upgrade your number...

Ordinary OTP generated by the bank servers and not CBN

It's the fault of the bank, should not take more than 24 hours to resolve

The only way you can resolve such is to apply for a new ATM card, when an atm card is issue, a phone no is link to it and it can't be change even if u change ur bank account phone number. Go to your bank and apply for a new card, the new card Will come with your current phone no

You are supposed to get your account number same day your account is opened. What kind of bank is that?
