Every news that comes out of Nigeria is so frustrating from news of former governors detained for corruption and later acquitted to Boko Haram to reading news of great poverty in the country to . . ., damn no good news.

Nothing gladdens me about Nigeria. So sad

As usual, nigeria is an easy target.

I'll gladly choose to be a Nigerian over so many other countries.
Point is, Nigeria isnt the worst. We have terrible challenges and so does every country have. What can you do to make it better? That should be your waking up thoughts

As for me, Nigeria is like a sick person suffering from a known disease that has medication but rather than give him the right medication, he gets a placebo or an adulterated version of the medication or even neglected entirely.

Your pain is felt by EVERY progressive minded individual in Nigeria.

Don't mind some people who cannot see the world outside of their immediate comfort zones. Some of us have absolutely no reason to feel sad about how things are in Nigeria, afterall we are FAR withdrawn from most of its impacts. But how can one be happy, when most of his people are sad?

Nigeria is sh1t, always have been and always will be. It is not going anywhere, looking at Nigeria today, looking at all the stories about Nigeria, looking at this forum, I feel ashamed and disgust calling myself Nigerian; sometimes I wish I was from another African country, still Igbo, but any other African country: Cameroon, Ghana, Sierra Leone, even Ethiopia I no mind.
I'm channeling that disgust into separating out of this curse we deemed a nation.

lol, my brother you hit the nail on the head.
Some of our brothers can't separate being Igbo and being a Nigerian. Fact is that they are not necessarily the same thing, and can exist mutually exclusive of each other.
When some of my Igbo brothers say they love Nigeria, what they actually mean is that they love Igboland.
To be able to separate the two is what I call FREE THINKING.

Everytime i want to read the news, i always brace myself because our headlines are always screaming things like:
DOOM, ANARCHY, POVERTY, DEATH, BOMBS, DEATH, MORE DEATHS, MASSIVE DESTRUCTION BY RAIN, BY PEOPLE. . . .

Exactly, despite the fact that we are far withdrawn from its direct impact and are comfortable where we are, yet one cannot insulate himself from the shock waves coming from home. When you look at the problems, the solution stares you straight in your eyes but you have no means to put things in motion to solve it. Leadership in Nigeria is so pathetic!

I love Nigeria for its retrogressive nature which engenders in me the burning desire to destroy it. When I wake up and remember there is a real estate called Nigeria, I go back to sleep.

It's natural to hate Nigeria if you're Igbo. Aside that, there's no arguing Nigeria is a piece of shitt.

And that will end corruption and mismanagement how?
Last time i looked we have igbos,yorubas ,hausa and all sort of tribes on government looting  so i hardly think seperation will solve the corruption issue at all.

It has always being my dreams to be Igbo in Republic of Igbo land. In addition would not mind being a Biafran in a Biafra that will consist of all Igbo land, Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni, Ijo (Rivers/Bayelsa), Cross River and Idoma (Benue State).

@ obiagu1, from the tone of your writing it's seems you are living in a Western world, for how long , I don't know. But and an adage says East or West, Home is the best.

I felt your pain and anguish about lack of  progress of our DEAR Country , NIGERIA ( since 1960), but your pains should not be raised to the level of Hatred because our country is our country. We should all try what we could to contribute our quota to the development to make Nigeria a better place. Don't let us forget that we in Diaspora are only developing another man's country, no matter how comfortable or uncomfortable be are.

Nothing is wrong with Nigeria. Nigerians and especially the leadership are wicked.

Check all the leaders as they are dying in foreign lands because they refused to build good hospitals for us.

Our problem is not Religion or Race but bad leaders.
