I frequently get visits from cats in my house. I would love to get one as a pet. Any suggestions on how to catch it and what to feed it? Thanks.

never catch an adult feral cat., but if it is a stray cat( you will know from how they interact with you), then you can use these cages to trap them with food( without garlic or ginger in it) and then feed them until they get used to you b4 letting them roam. You can also catch kittens

Why can't I catch an adult feral cat? Also what cages? And how do I trap them?

Feral cats are...feral and are well known to bite and scratch, the bites and scratches of cats are more dangerous than those of dogs. Also, it is extremely difficult to take an adult feral cat, they've lived most if not all their lives away from humans and so they won't just be trusty like that. Only previously tamed/owned cats and kittens (because they are easily impressionable like kids) can be readily domesticated.
As for the traps, you'll have to either buy cat traps or Google how to make one yourself (altho I don't know how effective it would be)

Thanks. I appreciate the advice.

I just caught some feral kittens. They hiss and spit at me whenever I try to approach but they are feeding. I think that maybe in a few weeks, they'll come around and recognize me. *What do you think?*

How were you able to trap it

They made a home in the garden side of my house. Been living there for years and I didn't know (compound's large though). So I studied them and found out their habits. Mother Cat always left in the mornings to feed and scavenge and returned subsequently during the day. Gateman and I timed them when the mother was away and trapped them in a corner and picked all three kittens.

They only stayed for three days though. One of my mother's overly religious church friends saw them and told my mom that he saw them in the dream and they were evil (something that's been living for years in our house). Woke up one morning and they were gone, pained me though.

Now, they live in a nearby house and the mother still comes to my house every day to scavenge. Now I actually need help in catching it. I'm not listening to anyone again.

If you want to catch a cat, just start feeding it, cats always return to such places. When the pet gets used to it, you can try taking it home. But my advice is to protect the cat and your house from fleas and ticks, so I'd buy the necessary products beforehand. I personally order Advantage Multi for Cat from Pet Pharmacy as I know it works well. Hope it helps and good luck!

The mother cat always enters using the fence. If I start dropping food at the particular point where she lands, I think it'll work but what about lizards or other small animals stealing the food when I'm not there?

Why do you want to catch the mother too?
If you have her kittens then I'm not surprised she's coming back there.

I would strongly advice against keeping the mom. Also, you don't need to domesticate all three kittens naw, just keep one or two.

I hope you shaa have the budget and patience for this journey you're embarking on. One cat sef, na war

I said I got all three kittens but they released them. But now I want to start again. I have two dogs, maybe if I can't catch them, I'll buy. Where do you buy cats actually?

On second thought, I'll leave the mother.
