Fraiser: For such and other services which the UN may not engage directly (although these services are relevant to several UN operations) you may be engaged as part of another organisation that provides these services to the UN(the UN may not manufacture products as a humanitarian agency. However, several products such as you have listed are utilized in meeting humanitarian needs. Such products of course have to be QC certified by the vendor contracted before delivery to the UN. I am very aware of the fact that you may also be engaged on a very short term (multiple times, multiple locations) as an independent auditor who conducts technical assessment of potential vendors before they are being engaged in a contract with the UN. Because of your expertise, you have the technical capacity to conduct the audit and recommend which of the potential vendors have the capability to deliver the best quality product. Your profile on Linked In showcasing your auditing skills will really be helpful in this regard |

Akalia: Creative writers are also recruited in the Communications Unit. Several UN agencies recruit such to help document and share the stories of their achievements in meeting humanitarian needs within and outside the UN community. This is such a big deal in the UN and a lot of funds and resources are usually expended in the process. Depending on the availability of funds, I have seen some individual units which are not even CAM(communications and advocacy) recruiting such writers for the purpose stated above |

As I proceed to start sharing VAs, I wish to state clearly that: 1. Not all the vacancies are restricted to the UN. Most however, are international or multinational organisations, UN vacancies inclusive; 2. I will try to restrict the vacancies shared on this thread to those requiring very minimal years of experience; 3. If you need any clarification or further explanation in describing the terms on any vacancy you are interested in applying for (which of course suits your profile), please feel free to ask. 4. The locations for these vacancies could be in any part of the country; East, West, North or South. Emphasis on North Even me sef, Na North I dey 4. Apart from sharing these vacancies and supporting in packaging your CV and cover letter (once-in-a-while) for any of the roles posted here, I have no other help to render. The only other help I have to render is to explain, with practical examples of how the "God factor" can not be underestimated in this pursuit, which will come up much later as the thread progresses; 5. Let's continue to maintain decorum on this thread. Thank you 8 Likes |
