Another mass shooting angry

Report has it that there are over 400 million guns in America for a country of 320 million people.

What is the obsession with guns why are civilians allowed to have guns.More guns in society doesn't stop crime it only makes it worse.

Can't America learn from Europe?

Everyday mass shootings the country is insecure,it is easier to get a gun in Texas and Georgia than it is to vote in those states.

Jen Psaki said America has a "gun problem" for me it is a gun epidemic.
It's really saddening but the worst is yet to come unfortunately because we are just about 5 days away from Memorial Day which is the official start of Summer. I agree with you that it's gun epidemic and no politician have a solution for it because of the situation we find ourselves. 2nd Amendment I strongly support and I believe I have the right to protect myself and my family hence I have my Glock 20 with me most of the time. At least if I want to go, I will go like a man not like a scared puppy. With the gun situation in the Fruited Plains, it's a case of the Shakespearean 'River Rubicon has been crossed and there's no going back'. Most Americans are aware of the gun situation but nothing can be done again except streamlining the gun permit card by testing for mental illness and FBI fingerprints but criminals will also have access to illegal weapons like it's all over the world.

You are none of these things, especially the office address. A quick search reveals the largest hedge fund firm in Chicago revealed it's Citadel LLC which is chaired by a white man.

A quick search of the IBM Building reveals it's 330 North Wabash. The major firms officed in the building are all listed here and when one does a deeper search, it doesn't validate your claims: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/330_North_Wabash .

But you knew I'm determined enough to dig so you threw off a scent which doesn't lead to you. Over the months, your hubris has led you to reveal where you supposedly 'work' and none leads to any of the firms in the North Wabash building. That lays to waste all your claims.

Yes I am not. Send me your account if you are hungry. Will do the needful. $500 will do a lot in your life I presume. By the way, how many times have you been turned down at the Embassy to make you this obsessed about a country you probably will never see in your life except in your dreams.

Loser in the game of life. My office is on 47th Floor and my firm occupies two floors in the building. I am not going to argue with you because I am living next to you in your unlit village with no running water. Why don't you Google the schools I attended and tell me I didn't go there. discrimination doesn't only take the form of race but racism has historically been the worst form of discrimination hence the emphasis as race is for better for worse a permanent condition that can not be changed unlike other reasons for discrimination

"No Irish no dogs no blacks" was subtle racism up to the 80s. There were no signs per se, but if you called a to let advert in UK and sounded Irish or black or you barked, expect to be told the place was already let.

One once saw the shock on a woman's face when non-sounding black me turned up at a place I was about to rent that I'd called up just 5 minutes earlier. She stuttered and blurted "the place was already gone", and shut the door in my face as I stood there dejected and stunned only for her to open the door seconds later and rather red faced told me the place was not let and could I please come in.

"The thing is", she said after making me tea, the room is inclusive of bills, but she's heard black folks need to bath everyday and need more heating which would increase her costs, but if I was willing to pay £10 more she is prepared to let me have the place. I thanked her. Told her she was to let number 27 I'd called up and 13th I'd visited to be told on arrival it had just been let, and I was so grateful she'd told me what I was up against, and for the tea, but the place "was above my budget with the increase so I could not take it", I told her. Welcome back home to London, I thought at the time as I'd completed missed UK racism in the 70s as I was dealing with accent discrimination in my own country Nigeria where for some reason my own fellow Nigerians thought my main food was butter and discriminated against me for it even though butter was not exactly on the menu in my home.

No, discrimination is not only about race, just that being minority black in majority white countries we are bound to notice discrimination due to race more. If we were Palestinian in Israel, or transgender or gay in the army, or minority Christian or Muslim where the opposite is the majority, we'd likely notice those discriminations a lot more. I hear discrimination amongst Yorubas against renting to Igbos in my very own Ago Palace Road where Igbos are even somewhat not so much a minority.

Depending on the country in Europe.

You can't compare the lives taken with a knife to that of a gun.I can't remember where I saw a report that over 30k Americans die as a result of gun related violence annually that report doesn't account for law enforcement unnecessary killings too.

Stab Central is representing itself quite well.

People should have access to defending themselves, but there will always be insane people who will turn a cleaver into something much worse than it should be. Or those who don't keep their guns for intruders and instead turn it on innocent others.

The issue is likely increasing mental health problems all over the world.

They do have gun issues, but I've seen instances where they did need the guns or they would've been dead themselves e. g. Intruders, etc. Other Americans need to go hunting and whatever else they need guns for.

Admittedly, the stabbers and abductors/rapists produce less casualties. That hasn't stopped them from cashing out on the sales of machetes and other heavy duty knives.

Proper psychiatric screening and background checks are needed before people purchase guns, not afterwards — which is usually the case when it goes belly up.

The problem is the people who own the weapons. The world is increasingly full of mentally disturbed persons.

I agree 100% with you. I have 4 guns to my name and the last one I bought was an AR because I happen to believe that it's my constitutional rights as an American to bear arms and secondly, I made a vow many years ago as a junior in College when my friends and I almost got lynched by Nazis in Cicero which is a town just West of Chicago. If not for God's grace, all of us would have been dead. That was when I said to myself that when I come of age, I will get a weapon to protect myself and I did exactly that when my wife had my first daughter. I believe that I am not a man if I cannot protect my children and wife. Owning a gun for over 20 years and I have never shot at anyone except in the shooting range but i will shoot someone to defend my family. It's the thugs and the deplorables in the Fruited Plains with illegal guns causing all the noise.

You never know, things might open up by then. Trump second inauguration will be my first time of witnessing a president sworn in. I can't wait till June or early July. They might make it July 4th for the significance of that day because Trump will liberate all Americans from bondage that we are in.

Knowing the mentality of Americans, that ship has left the dock unfortunately. I do not love carrying Glock with me when I step out of my house but it is what it is. You will probably feel that way if you reside in America. My wife is the most angelic person I know and it took me 4 years to convince her to get a gun permit. I support gun control reform.
I love that New Jersey and Massachusetts have gun control laws and have even introduced more bills just like how Connecticut has done in reaction to that horrible mass shooting that happened in March.

Unlike GQP controlled states like Texas and Tennessee that have even made gun access easier.

I personally cannot live in the United states apart from visiting because of gun violence I am not a gun fan and I don't buy that idea of owning a gun.I find that culture dangerous I find it terrible that people can openly carry guns all in the name of defending themselves guns should not be in the hands of everyone.Owning guns doesn't stop crime it only increases violence. How I wish more can be done to gun manufacturers to hold them accountable nor be everything civilians go dey get access to all in the name of rights, freedom and amendments.I watched on CNN where a teenager went to a alcohol store he wasn't given alchol,he wasn't allowed into other stores because what he wanted was for adults but he went to a gun store and purchased a gun, imagine that I watched it on CNN.

I don't support guns being easily accessible to civilians nah it is one thing I can never support. If I was an American politician the NRA will rate me with an 'F' it is so sad that the obsessive gun culture had eaten deep into the American society all in the name of second amendment rights.

Right now I don't understand or comprehend what you said, you as well don't comprehend what you said. We can leave it at that

But you do not understand, you just think you do, and you intentionally lie to convince yourself that you do understand because anyone who can read can clearly see I never said nor meant "WHITES WILL CHOOSE THEM OVER AFRICAN AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT SLAVERY", but which is how you misunderstand what I wrote.

Historian wonders: Is Joe Biden "a speed bump on the fascists' march to power"?

n Jan. 6, Donald Trump's Big Lie about a stolen election turned kinetic, and inspired an attempted coup against American democracy. At the very least, Republicans aided and abetted Trump's coup attempt and the attack on the U.S. Capitol, and some of them are likely co-conspirators in his plot. They have pledged to prevent an independent investigation into the events of Jan. 6, and are continuing their assault on democracy by imposing a new form of Jim Crow-style apartheid across the county. Their goal: winning and keeping power by preventing Black and brown people and other key Democratic constituencies from exercising their right to vote.

As part of their commitment to overthrowing America's multiracial democracy, the Jim Crow Republicans continue to amplify and weaponize Trump's Big Lie. Public opinion polls and other research have repeatedly shown that this disinformation propaganda strategy is highly effective. Trump's cult members remain in thrall to their Great Leader and eagerly await his return by any means necessary, legal or otherwise.

The past is not always a perfect prologue. But when the past echoes so loudly in the present one would be wise not to ignore it. History's bell is ringing loudly in the Age of Trump in America.

In a recent essay for the Los Angeles Times, historian Benjamin Carter Hett explored the frightening resonances between Adolf Hitler's attempted coup in Germany in 1923 (what has come to be known as the "Beer Hall Putsch"wink and Trump and his followers' coup attempt this past January:

Hitler learned his lesson: A sophisticated modern state could not be overturned by a violent coup led by outsiders, against the police and the army. He realized he would have to work within the system.

Over the following decade, this is exactly what he did. The Nazis ran in elections until they were the largest party in Germany's parliament, gridlocking legislative business. Even more insidiously, the Nazis worked to infiltrate crucial institutions like the police and the army. In 1931, Berlin police responded incredibly sluggishly to a massive Nazi riot in the center of the city. It turned out senior police officials silently sympathized with the Nazis and had colluded in hobbling the police response.

Hitler grew steadily more attractive to business and military leaders who saw him and his movement as their only salvation from the growing Communist Party. Early in 1933 they opened the doors of power to him. ...

After the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, 139 Republican members of the House and eight members of the Senate, led by Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, came out of hiding to vote to object to the electoral college vote count. While a police officer lay dying, they supported Trump's lie of a stolen election and embraced the insurrectionists' cause.

Hett then engages in a particularly disturbing what-if scenario, one that has troubled many people familiar with the patterns of history:

Imagine the events of the past weeks and months if someone like Hawley had been the secretary of state in Georgia, or someone like retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn held a significant military command. Imagine what would have happened if the Republicans held majorities in both houses of Congress and could have overturned the electoral college results. Imagine if the courts had been more generously stocked with judges willing to entertain the Trump campaign's ludicrous arguments.

Above all, imagine if the president had been a bit more competent, a bit more strategic, a bit more daring. Hitler, after all, was at least willing to be present at the violence his words inspired. He was also more persuasive in his dealings with important officials.

Ultimately, Trump's coup attempt and the attack on the Capitol were little more than a trial run. With the Republican Party's rejection of democracy, the events of Jan. 6 will not seem like an outlier or aberration for long. Instead, they offer a preview of how today's Republican Party will respond when and if it loses future elections.

One of the reasons why I can't live there.
Believe me you will be fine noting that no country is perfect. America is a beautiful country if you keep your nose clean and follow the law. I have seen a woman in the Pentecostal church that I used to go many years ago came to do a Nanny job for one of our members and this woman was not lettered but she is a great cook. We implored her to start her own restaurant and many years after, she's probably a millionaire now if not close. That's the America I know and live.
