Even in the United States, the loudest opponents to the legalization of cannabis were law enforcement agents who derived massive financial benefits from arresting weed smokers and sellers, because such police forces were permitted by law to confiscate and sell property owned by arrested cannabis marketers and consumers. From vehicles to cash to houses, million-dollar fortunes became the property of police departments across the USA, by way of those forfeiture laws. Similarly, privately owned jails prospered from the intake of millions of largely minority prisoners locked up under the tyranny of anti-cannabis laws, and among those prisoners, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately victimized and deprived of their liberty for years and even decades, sometimes over a single joint of cannabis smoked in order to get a good night's sleep. Now that a long-overdue wave of cannabis legalization is sweeping the USA and the world at large, all the fear-mongering scare tactics desperately deployed to retain those draconian anti-cannabis laws, have evaporated like darkness at the break of dawn. Now that cannabis has been legalized in numerous states, the fortunes being reaped are by LEGAL companies supplying a highly beneficial and natural product - medical cannabis, to millions of grateful users no longer compelled to buy weed from criminals that often poison the weed with deadly chemicals. Buba Maruwa, current head of Nigeria's NDLEA drug persecution agency, commands a multi-million dollar budget that is in large part devoted to apprehending weed-growers, sellers, and users, in order to destroy their lives and seize their property, just as was the case until very recently over much of America. As other writers under this topic have correctly noted, America's legalization of medical cannabis did NOT cause the heavens to fall and flood the streets with deranged criminals. On the contrary, cannabis legalization in America brought real tangible relief to millions of people with medical conditions ranging from glaucoma, appetite loss, various cancers, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes, to name but a few of the ailments treatable with that wondrous plant called cannabis. Concurrently, a new generation of cannabis BILLIONAIRES is being minted in the USA, Europe, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Lesotho, Ghana, and Jamaica, among other nations, as entrepreneurs establish companies dedicated to the cultivation, processing, marketing, and export of high-grade cannabis and its numerous extracts. Nigeria's time has come, to reap the gigantic medical and financial rewards of legalized medical cannabis, just as is the case in all those other enlightened nations listed above. Let the 2020 Nigerian Cannabis Control Legislation sail through its final readings before Nigeria's esteemed lawmakers, so that this new era of prosperity and common sense medical transformation, can commence. God bless Nigeria. God bless President Buhari, and may his judgment be guided by wisdom, and medical FACT, rather than by outdated innuendo, and irrational fear-mongering of the sort parroted by Buba Marwa, a man reaping so much financial gain, from the misery of a nation, and the deprivation of her citizens from myriad medical benefits attainable with treatment by medical marijuana and its extracts. 3 Likes |

Jwonder: Which of those countries is as corrupt as Nigeria. Don't start things you cannot end nor control. Nigeria can hardly renovate buildings not to talk about controlling drug use. |

The ironical part of this now is that this so called NDLEA slave now might be a cannabis consumer and customer. Hypocrisy everywhere. Even his children self may be junkies. 2 Likes |

witworth: As a retired military man, Buba Marwa has most certainly used and enjoyed cannabis in the past, and probably right up till the present. That will not stop him from seeking to imprison his fellow users of this highly beneficial plant, and impound their property and bank accounts, simply because of the huge financial gain he and his organization stand to reap for as long as Nigeria's outdated cannabis prohibition persists. |

adenigga: Better to be a den of junkies than a den of terrorists and idiots. A lot of young adults are queuing to committing suicide due to state of the nation. Since you don't have any solution to unemployment. Give them weed to supress the tension and anxiety. 2 Likes |

GeneralPula: This isn't just about smoking. It is about cerebral intoxication. As for been able to think, reverse is the case. Our mind is 100% capable of thinking without any need for drug enhancement. Addicts say all this trash as a justification for using intoxicating drugs. |

Instead of you to put young people with progressive ideas as govt leaders, you used old men that the world has left behind. Does this idiot realise that the industry is now billions of dollars Worth and many African countries are scrambling to be the export hub? 1 Like |

princewarri1985: If at all possible, commission a TRUSTED grower to plant on your behalf, with the instruction NEVER to apply any chemicals. The biggest danger facing weed consumers, is the addition of chemicals by criminal growers, either during the cultivation process when poisonous chemicals are used to control termites, or worse, after harvest, when deadly additives that can prove lethal, are added to increase the potency of low-quality weed. Grow your own, to optimize your weed smoking safety. |

I feel the reason for the delay in legalization of cannabis is just so they can keep reselling the seized merchandise and also to keep the seized 90bn. |

KAHBOOM: The overadvertised countries: UK, Canada and USA are a den of criminals though you won't believe it due to colonial brainwashing. Those governments legalizing that stuff was a huge mistake. There's more crime in America than in Nigeria though you won't believe it. |
