One liter of cannabis oil extract markets for $79,000 USD . This is mentioned at the 1:18 minute mark of this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sG5bhO420I

Coverting $79,00 US dollars to naira gives us a figure of 32 million naira PER LITER of cannabis oil. This, my brethren, is SERIOUS money that Nigerians can earn exactly as is being done in Lesotho, where the above video was filmed.

President Buhari, please, do the right thing, and open this highly lucrative market for your nation, TODAY !

It has been legal in Canada for a few years with no problems.
In the Netherlands cannabis has been available for recreational use in coffee shops since 1976. Again, no mass problems.
Weed and medical cannabis is now legal in many states in Yankee.
Buba Marwa should join the 21st century sha.

I would say this without mincing words.

It is very silly of him to say that.

Burnaboy, wizkid smoke weed and post it online what has NDLEA done about that??

Yet when young Kola and his friend Nonso take weed you throw them in prison and extort them.

We need to stop all these double standards. NDLEA staff sef take weed if e sure for him let them all do a drug test and make it public!!!!

Cannabis is as much legal in Nigeria in my opinion cos its already everywhere abi you dey whine me ni??

NDLEA should focus on narcotics and not flexing muscles on weed smokers. The FG should think of how to generate revenue from weed cos when the fuel dry up finish una eyes go clear.

Some of you here are just ignorantly typing jargon in support of legalizing cannabis. We know cannabis has many health benefits, but how about the many negative effects

Nigeria is not ripe for legalizing medical cannabis! We have not been able to regulate other ethical therapeutic drugs like opioids, now some people are advocating to add cannabis to list legally.

We don't have enough psychiatric hospitals and psychiatrists to handle the psychiatric problems that would result from legalizing cannabis.

Our healthcare system is poor, how do we intend to handle health problems like hypertension and the rest that would be magnified when cannabis become legal?

Until we get to that stage when drugs are properly regulated in such a way that use of such drugs is solely on the prescription of a trained professional and dispensary is also done by a trained pharmacist, with a system to keep track of how such drugs are used, please we don't need it legalized for now!!!

Nigeria does not have enough prison space for all those that smoke cannabis.

We cannot afford to jail them all.

It is an impossible law to police.

On the other hand government can make billions in taxes.

Alcohol is a more dangerous drug

Alcohol and tobacco are more harmful

What evidence do you have for your claim on the connection between cannabis and psychiatric public health
Do you have any evidence that more people will smoke cannabis when it is legalized than otherwise?

Those who smoke cannabis are not bothered whether it is legal or not. It makes no difference
How many people are convicted annually in Nigeria for smoking cannabis?

Aside my knowledge of psychoactive substances and their effects on the brain, I am in the street also and I have seen many psychiatric cases triggered by cannabis use.

More people will definitely start using weed if it becomes legal. It is common sense that when access increases, indulgence increases as well. Again, it will become cheaper as more people will flood the market with it and you'll agree with me that the cheaper it becomes, the more it is used.

Criminal cannabis growers and dealers are systematically adulterating weed using a variety of deadly chemicals, perhaps in a bid to boost the potency of mediocre quality weed, and the results of that mass poisoning are absolutely devastating. Indeed cannabis smokers are running mad, and even dying as a result of unknowingly ingesting any number of terrible chemical additives.

This mass poisoning is all the more reason why cannabis cultivation MUST be removed from the hands of criminal gangs, and regulated in exactly the same way as alcohol production is monitored and controlled. With the criminal element permanently removed from the cultivation and marketing of marijuana, incidents of psychotic breaks will dramatically reduce in number nationwide.

That's a false equivalence. Netherlands has legalized cannabis for years now. Dutch people are still not junkies.
If it is left to Northern Nigeria, alcohol too would be banned

It is not about chemical contamination. Cannabis itself has many chemical constituents some of which interact with different receptors in the brain. Unless we have the wherewithal to do proper extraction of the beneficial constituents, legalizing the whole cannabis for whatever reason is very dangerous!

What we experience in our individual "street" encounters is no basis to describe the whole world.
You claim that you have seen cases "triggered " by cannabis. What evidence do you have?
That a person you see using cannabis goes on to development a menta illness does not prove anything. Most people who use cannabis do NOT develop mental illness. Often those people who develop mental illness are already experiencing prodromal symptoms and are using cannabis as a form of self medication

It may be more logical to say "people who are likely go on to develop mental Illness e.g from genetic predisposition are more likely to use psychoactive substances"

A large number of people with mental health diagnoses smoke tobacco and are in poverty. Why do we not attribute causation to these factors

"More people will definitely start using weed if it becomes legal". You say?
That is an assumption. Where is the evidence?
You make too many assumptions.
It does not necessarily become cheaper with legalization

Rather than making baseless pronouncements why not check for evidence from those places where it is already legalized like The Netherlands or Portugal

Let's be clear: marijuana isn't a gateway drug and should be legalised.

I agree. At the moment if you want to buy weed you must engage and mix with all kinds of unsavoury characters.

Would be nice if you can get your brew from your local Chemist, Shoprite or Bank.
Imagine if you could walk into Zenith Bank or GTB to get your supply. Nice and clean with a NAFDAC number

What is the danger? What EVIDENCE can you put forward to back your claim.
How can we measure this "danger" on a scale of 1 to 10 and how does it compare with the danger of alcohol?

We need to separate science from morality.

Why is wherewithal to extract a precondition for anything? Why do we not apply that same logic to tobacco? How many chemical constituents are in tobacco>

The only thing that causes health problem is people like you who assume everything being rolled up and smoked is untainted cannabis.
People doctor it and add chemicals to it for more potency to attract more buyers.
Natural marijuana is nothing more than the ugu in your backyard with an ability to magnify your innermost contemplations....But carry on being clueless without research.

Stop speaking irrelevant English and do your research. Every natural food you eat has the same properties.
Alchohol kills more people daily than weed ever will, yet it’s legal and on your tv daily because it makes money for those that “control“ society.
A harmless plant that can grow in your backyard without any chemical additive is “bad for you” while everything mixed in artificial compositions is “good”.

Sometimes it’s easy to see why 90% of society is filled sheep controlled by 1%.

Leave that goat. Unfounded professors in fields they know nothing about.
No wonder 90% of Nigerians are clueless people who peddle everything they have ever heard but never checked for fact.
That same oponu will go and drink beer or some other alcohol thinking he’s enjoying life with a stupid kind of high.
Some people don’t know not everybody smokes cannabis and not everything smoked is cannabis.
People jump into a doctored version of cannabis and think they smoked cannabis, most people don’t even know how to identify the real from the synthetic (which is what MOST people smoke and lose their senses).
Even for no reason at all, the fact that despite all the side effects of alchohol it’s still advertised to us every single day in highly paid adverts but a simple plant that can grow anywhere any other plant can grow is “bad” and “illegal” is why society is bleeped up. People can’t use their common sense.
Once your hear cannabis automatically “thug” or “rastafarian” comes to mind but vodka and all other kinds of dangerous stupid kind of highness is “cool” and “making sense” to people. Crazy world.

Just as there are individuals who suffer allergic reactions to chloroquine used in treating malaria, and people who are genetically predisposed to addiction that are better off never indulging in alcohol consumption, marijuana also is NOT compatible with SOME members of any society, on account of their inherent inclination to psychological instability or addiction.

The rationale that chloroquine or alcohol are not suitable for SOME people has never been proposed as the basis upon which those utterly worthless substances ought to be legally banned from use by ALL people. This same logic MUST be applied to cannabis, which, unlike alcohol or tobacco, DOES have significant clinically verified benefits for MILLIONS of people worldwide.

Truth be told, the vast majority of those enlightened enough to objectively weigh the benefits and risks of alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis would readily accept a total ban on tobacco and alcohol, both of which have ZERO medical efficacy and are in fact deadly poisons, while emphatically supporting the total and immediate legalization of medical cannabis. I certainly fall into the category of those who would GLADLY support a total ban on alcohol and tobacco, coupled with full decriminalization of medical marijuana, on the basis of the aforementioned reasons.

Nigerians NEVER take good lessons from any country. If it’s progressive and encourages research it’s a NO-NO.
If it provides an avenue for the political class to steal that’s when they will encourage everybody that it’s the right thing to do.

In other words, if legalized you will be out of job,ha ha ha. On a lighter note, you are right, don't advise lawmakers, some of them even do drugs and don't advice Nigerians who couldn't kick against it, by the time they legalize it, their children & loved ones becomes addicts, the Politicians themselves becomes victims of criminals from the influence of the same drugs they legalize, they will know. To the Politicians, the country's security situation is not bad enough & many of them are part of the problem of the country today, bad governance,no good economic plan, wanton looting , laundering, making our youth jobless, paving way for idle minds leading to criminality of different types such as the terrorism, banditary, herdsmen killings, kidnapping, trafficking, rituals killings, attacks on security personnels, government properties and other vices. It just that the these attackers lost focus, if not, the attack when directed at this Politicians, changes would have come and there will be no need for this agitations here and there.
