that is what i want u to understand the evolving and dynamic part..football has left u guys behind cuz it evolved. When Nottingham won the ucl in 1896 they made this statement when football started evolving .when asrnal had thier glory days before the gradual revolution they made this statement.the prob i am having with u guys is d HOPE u guys have..hope kills despair is better..look at asenal they have no hope but their fans are happy..imagin if u had despair before the villareal game u would have slept well and happy after the loss.man lower ur expection u are not a decent club anymore...football evoves and its unfortunate that some must be left behind.do they still study pascal in our universiteis? NO
So wetin you dey talk sef... I no understand.

You know nothing about football...

What did the following "Mighty" teams win this year?

Sevilla
Real Madrid
Borussia Dortmund
Juventus
Atalanta
Barcelona
A.C Milan

There are few trophies for many teams to compete for... You do your best. It's no one's birth-right.

United played well... They could have won within 90 minutes if they played better, same for Villarreal (You don't get to a European final if you are mediocre). Penalties can go any way.

First, Sevilla, Atalanta, Dortmund can't be spoken of in the same breath as Man Utd. That you are, says a lot about how low Man Utd has sunk.

Secondly, these clubs have points in the bank. I mean they have met and some even surpassed expectations (from fans and general public alike) in recent times(last 2 years) .

Third, Dortmund, Juventus, Barcelona won trophies this season. The others finished strongly. Ac Milan back in Europe, Madrid finished strongly (but Zidane left because that wasn't good enough), Atalanta, best points tally ever(equal with last season)

There are times mediocre teams get to European finals. Fulham got there in 2010 and rightly lost, are they an elite team?

My point is - Don't kid yourself, Man Utd underperformed yesterday and throughout the season. Villarreal were the underdogs. Ideally, there'll be an inquest - at some level. Players-wise or manager-wise, or Board-wise. Madrid are having an inquest, Barca will. United should.

engrish teacher clap for urself but hope u got the message..anyday man u losses expecially a final the next day i dont leave the house cuz i still have the exitement..i get unnecessary erection that takee me for 2 weeks.imagine wat will happen to me when they finally get relegated..the excitment yesterday ehn was none to be compared with
I hope they keep losing like asrnal

Still doesn't answer my questions.

Is there a football definition of d word "mediocre"? Maybe FIFA and UEFA have given a set of criteria by which we should measure teams as "mediocre". Can u kindly help out with those universal criteria as set out by FIFA and UEFA?

If I am explaining d word "mediocre" to u, what has this got to do with d discussion?:

"u..Northampton forest humburg won the champions league in 1869"

What is going to shock me about that information? By d way, what is "Northampton forest humburg"?

If there are 3 clubs in Spain, how does that contribute to d definition of mediocre? How does playing in Europa mean mediocre?

Meanwhile, Hamburg is a German word

Sad, you don't know anything about football.... Please stop analyzing football for your own good.

Lol. Let's hear your analysis of Villarreal being an elite club. I'd love to see it.
Re: Man United's Season Has Not Been A Success - Solskjaer After UEL Final Defeat by lexy2014: 12:52pm On May 27, 2021
Asiseeit:

Two reasons
1. They finished 7th in laliga, behind Betis, Sociedad. Midtable team.

2. They lack European pedigree , pedigree. This is their first major trophy ever! To put that in perspective, Wigan FC has won way more than them!

Do you see notice how most people are not heaping praise on Villarreal but shame and disappointment on Manchester united?

Do you also notice that accolade is directed at Emery as a Europa specialist?

#Oleout is trending and Man Utd season is considered a failure, but do you think same woulda applied to Villarreal if Man Utd had won?

And if you still think they aren't a mediocre club, I'll like your definition of elite club.

I didn't notice anything. Is there a football definition of d word "mediocre"? Maybe FIFA and UEFA have given a set of criteria by which we should measure teams as "mediocre". Can u kindly help out with those universal criteria as set out by FIFA and UEFA?

You are not making sense at all... So because ManU didn't win trophies makes them what? Go collect your brain back.

I understand it hurts, so I'll ignore the insult. So to answer your question (bolded)

It makes their season a failure, just as the manager said. Even the players recognise this, only Nigerian Man Utd fans have a problem with this truth.

A club of Man Utd stature should not go FOUR SEASONS trophyless!

It's not just about last night, it's the 4 years. Top 4 or 2nd is not a trophy.

Something has to change. Even Juve that won Coppa Italia and finished top 4 are considering changing manager.

It is accepting mediocrity (top 4) as success that has led Arsenal to their current situation. It only gets worse.

I never tried to support or back United up... That's not my headache honestly.

I merely pointed out that it is quite wrong to label United a mediocre team based on losing a single final.

As for Villarreal being underdogs, let's give that a rest please... Villarreal is an under-performing club which should be finishing better than they do every season.

As for an inquest, yeah I support that wholly... That's the right thing to do.

Yep. And they got bashed every year they were out of the elite circle. They celebrated their return on Sunday like a trophy. Do you want to become like them?
I guess not. That's my point. The club should change something before becoming like them.

United's problem is simple!... Poor investment over the years. They have been wasting good money on the wrong players. If they had sorted out their transfer 'crisis' 3 seasons ago, they would have been winning trophies concurrently. You can't give what you don't have.

Forget all that talk of 'a club of Man United status'! Didn't a club of Chelsea's status lose 2 straight F.A cup finals??!... When you are unworthy of winning titles based on poor transfers, lack of squad depth, etc, then there is nothing you can do about that, it matters not whether you are a big club with history or not... Juventus had all the stars yet almost shamefully ended up in Europa for the first time since who knows when.

Yeah, their season ended poorly for losing that final, but it in no way makes them less than elite... Know this and quit arguing!!! Thank you.

Of course, united are not a mediocre team. If they are there won't be much noise. They are arguably in the top best 5 teams in the world, nah why they need to step up.

As for Villarreal, lol. They are a curious case. They need consistency. They are like the Tottenham of Spain. Using your words, could it be because they underperform is why they are seen as underdogs? wink

Read all my comments, I never said Man Utd aren't elite or they are mediocre. I said they are a top club, which is why people are disappointed.

Yeah, probably the reason... I never saw them as under-dogs tho. I actually warned the over-confident United fans about the danger they posed. grin

However, the United that started this season and later topped the league ought to have beaten them wella!!! I believe fatigue got the better of that team!!!

I wish them better luck next season... They should learn from their individual and collective mistakes, and improve all round next season. They are on a good run.
