Some of you here are just ignorantly typing jargon in support of legalizing cannabis. We know cannabis has many health benefits, but how about the many negative effects

Nigeria is not ripe for legalizing medical cannabis! We have not been able to regulate other ethical therapeutic drugs like opioids, now some people are advocating to add cannabis to list legally.

We don't have enough psychiatric hospitals and psychiatrists to handle the psychiatric problems that would result from legalizing cannabis.

Our healthcare system is poor, how do we intend to handle health problems like hypertension and the rest that would be magnified when cannabis become legal?

Until we get to that stage when drugs are properly regulated in such a way that use of such drugs is solely on the prescription of a trained professional and dispensary is also done by a trained pharmacist, with a system to keep track of how such drugs are used, please we don't need it legalized for now!!!

Thank u .. This is d point i was trying to make but they keeping shoúting canada, usa, south africa. .these are countries with well planned, organised , advanced health system

Nonsense talk is alcohol better than weed? We have dead beat dad's who come home and pounce on their wives after getting high, throw up, mess up the place and might even end up in a gutter but cannabis will just give us more hungry dad's who want to come home and eat.

The honest truth is legalizing cannabis does not make any difference to consumption
Cannabis is available in every ward in Nigeria. How many people in Nigeria appear in front of a judge annually because they smoked cannabis? How many are sentenced? It is only poor people that will go to prison for smoking cannabis

You mentioned advanced health system.

Why is health system relevant to legalizing cannabis? do you have any data or facts to back this up?
e.g total number of cannabis related hospital attendances per 100000 people annually?

Just as there are individuals who suffer allergic reactions to chloroquine used in treating malaria, and people who are genetically predisposed to addiction that are better off never indulging in alcohol consumption, marijuana also is NOT compatible with SOME members of any society, on account of their inherent inclination to psychological instability or addiction.

The rationale that chloroquine or alcohol are not suitable for SOME people has never been proposed as the basis upon which those utterly worthless substances ought to be legally banned from use by ALL people. This same logic MUST be applied to cannabis, which, unlike alcohol or tobacco, DOES have significant clinically verified benefits for MILLIONS of people worldwide.

Truth be told, the vast majority of those enlightened enough to objectively weigh the benefits and risks of alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis would readily accept a total ban on tobacco and alcohol, both of which have ZERO medical efficacy and are in fact deadly poisons, while emphatically supporting the total and immediate legalization of medical cannabis. I certainly fall into the category of those who would GLADLY support a total ban on alcohol and tobacco, coupled with full decriminalization of medical marijuana, on the basis of the aforementioned reasons.
Cannabis contains different chemical constituents some of which have some health benefits. However, many of these chemicals have harmful effects which can alter the mind and cause people to act irrationally. If we can pinpoint those beneficial constituents and separate them, good and fine. But legalizing the use of the whole plant is a no no for a messed up country like Nigeria.

Everybody who takes cannabis is mentally affected at different levels. They all suffer psychiatric issue at different levels like psychosis, mania, depression, hallucination etc. They must not start walking nakedd before we know they have mental problems.

Say no to weed! It kills

Your interesting opinion based on pure conjecture is noted for the Nairaland archives. You will no doubt be very unhappy when cannabis is legalized by Nigeria's legislature in the near future despite all these fascinating postulations you have tabled here.

Kindly accept my condolences on the coming bitter disappointment you will shortly experience, and have a great day sir.

These peeps are still underestimating the impact of weed. It seems they are oblivion to how this effective organic plant have contributed immensely to major science and Tech breakthrough. Regulation is what is needed to checkmate excesses. The irony is that all this stuff still goes on freely, with the cops still aware of where it's perpetrated, but just can't do anything.

Hypocrite everywhereb most of these agencies are grand patrons.

Someone should help me with the gif of Elon musk puffing kpoli.

We can't rule out the fact that he has a point. The boys on the streets, roadside smokers, agbero and the likes have made the public think cannabis is a wild leaf for the wild. There are a lot of successful people who use cannabis secretly on a daily because they know its benefits. Don't be surprised if your role model is a stoner grin. Michael Phelps, all-time Olympics gold medalist in swimming is a f**kin stoner. If we outline the benefits and risks, the benefits out-weighs the risks.

Cannabis should be legalized but controlled.
Peace out wink.

Yeah I know of wealthy men that smoke weed. They say it gives them rest of mind and sometimes some business ideas that was never imaginable

They can make the same argument for anything. “If Nigeria enjoys 24 hour electricity supply, the country will become a den of Yahoo boys and lazy TV-watching youth.”

Cannabis is not going to be legalized in Nigeria! More reasonable people have spoken up against it and I know that the legislature will eventually listen to the voice of reason.

The only thing that causes health problem is people like you who assume everything being rolled up and smoked is untainted cannabis.
People doctor it and add chemicals to it for more potency to attract more buyers.
Natural marijuana is nothing more than the ugu in your backyard with an ability to magnify your innermost contemplations....But carry on being clueless without research.
You are the clueless one here! I have carried out my research on cannabis and found out that it is harmful to both mind and body!

Please enlighten us about your plans after cannabis is legalized in Nigeria.
Will you leave the country in protest, and if so where would you go? North Korea? Saudi Arabia? Somalia?
Will you take it upon yourself to run up and physically attack stoners in a bid to kill them while afflicted with agitated fits of blind rage?
Will you choose to drown your sorrows drinking local gin until your liver gives up and rots away?

Please don't keep us in suspense. Let us know your plans for that inevitable moment when reality diverges from your cherished expectations.
