If you see anyone offering to do architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural design for 50k you better run faraway.
Most are just charlatans looking for next daily bread and what you'll get would be almost useless and won't stand scrutiny.

In your case, you probably engaged a top firm and most likely your scale of work was larger and perhaps supervision was included.

I'd also be wary of architects who draw structural designs.

I'd also be wary of people who go about swearing, cussing and cursing.

So I was in a meeting of civil engineers today, that was jointly attended by members from Africa foundaries, (one of Nigeria's leading reinforcement producing company) despite telling us that most of their raw materials were sourced locally, when questioned about why reinforcement bars price are skyrocketing exponentially, they couldn't give a befiting answer.

The issue of steel bars diameters not upto standard dimensions was also raised, and their response wasn't satisfactory to me aswell. (They were like buy only steels from Africa foundaries)

Last last, na structural engineers | clients go bear the brunt.

I did not build any of those as I changed my mind, sold one of the land and still keeping the other. This one of 1.4 million was done last year and I am about completing the building now. My friends get quoted similar figures for their drawings too so I am baffled at the prices guys are quoting.
