You're arguing different things entirely. I hope you're not going to use Dangote fuel for your vehicle when it starts refining because it is not from USA so it doesn't conform with USA standard of refining fuel.

So a company like total or conoil will not test their oil made in Nigeria?
There are industrial processes and templates in making these oils which individual producing company will follow, then it goes through testing, certifications and the likes. Does it have to be from USA only before these are achieved?
dru23:

That simple abi.. That simple that it takes 1 man Dangote to build a refinery for the whole country...lol..

A country that is not capable of refinery its own oil .. Even the petrol that are been sold is not to par they way it should .....

So just additives and that is it ...no testing of the product or quality country etc ..just add additives like you are cooking garri and vegetable stew .. A little sprinkle here and there .... grin

That simple .. You made it sound so simple am sure that is how Toyota were able to build their cars .. They just buy parts here and there. Built the engine inside whether the engine has gone through test or not . it no matter.. A little sprinkle here and there ... Wow it is well ..........

Let me be going ... It is too early for violence on nairaland .. I will wait till 3pm to start.... I will give you guys are the smoke....

When you have cattle herder as a leader.....what is there left to say ..... Just add additives abi like drinking gari grin

You just remind of my mechanic ... He said what is big deal there with Lamborghini .. That he can fix those types of cars etc .......fear catch me that day ... Common car he can barely fix .... It is well .. Let me be going o

The process is called fractional distillation. Crude heated at a certain degree gives different byproducts and at some point, lubricating oil. Whether you heat the oil in Nigeria or the U.S of A at about 300°c you get lubricating oil. Simple! Now what makes the difference is the additives. Get good additives and mix at the right ratio and I believe all will be fine.

Palm wine when you cook for Nigerian bush and the one wey you cook for oyinbo land go still give you sapele water.

Haaaa...na wa o...I didn't know we have plenty scientists in this house o. Pls what are the additives and in what ratio... I wan dey make am for my house. Mobil don too chop my money grin
Ermmmm Dru..I no need supertech again...this guy go show me how to make engine oil. grin grin grin

Jokes apart, synthetic oils are different from mineral oils...serious chemical engineering goes into it...no be baby oil

Okada ban in Lagos this time is going to be serious, it seems. It is necessary for security and to check the invaders. Commissioner of police said it last month that they retrieved about 300-400 guns (can't remember the actual number) from arrested Okada riders in this year alone. That tells something.

Some riders wey nobody has been privilege to buy bicycle let alone a car will just enter into a car with muddy and dirty legs stepping on the rug

That one self dey pain enh...

You're harsh with the comment sha. Anyone's legs will get dirty and muddy in the rain, even the road being walked upon isn't tarred. There is no way one will avoid having his car rough in a rainy season. It is not really riders' faults their legs are dirty, though it might piss drivers off

So much for your synthetic gospel:

...
Well, for that we have to go to a company like Infineum that produces the additive packages such as PARANOX 5043 and PARANOX 5510 for synthetic lubricants.

The active ingredients are 1.94% to 4.07% by Mass (weight) the balance is Petroleum Oil. (Petroleum oil being your conventional fractional distilled oil)

That is about 98% or 96% of the "Additive Package" in ready to blend form is Petroleum Oil!!!

They (Infineum) recommend treat rate for FULLY FORMULATED lubricant (Motor Oil) of 10 to 20% of the finished product.

Lolz...see brains...biko shey rubber bowl and garri turner will do d job of mixing.

Honestly, if I see where to buy imported fuel, I will buy. The grade refined for naija is probably the poorest grade.
If u want to know, check tokunbo fuel pump container and filter (probably used for 10yrs abroad), it is cleaner than brand new that was bought and used in Nigeria for 6months.

The fuel you buy is also imported. Nigeria does not refine, just that since SON has refused to do their job, all manner of pms are imported with very low octane rating, no wonder you can never get the correct mpg here.
On another note, you allow your tank to enter reserve often?

Calm down and let break it down for you... The Fuel imported into Nigeria is mostly adulterated ....

Whether this occurred before the fuel was imported or after I really don't know ......Now with Dangote fuel it is yet to be known the outcome.. So many variable comes to mind like pricing and availability etc ....We can go and on nonstop ....but time will tell if it is advantageous for the masses or not .......

The Adulterated fuel does alot of damage to cars from fuel pump to fuel injector ... The high end cars will suffer greatly for this .. The cost of fuel pump for BMW Benz mostly luxury cars will cost you an arm and a leg . now this why people use fuel additives for their cars. But funny enough some cars manual will tell you not to use fuel additive.......

You spoke about Total and Conoil testing their oil etc .. Whatever they produce for the Nigerian market is not the same for their home country.. Whether you like it or Nigeria is a dumping ground..

These foreign companies will get away with as much as the Nigeria government allows them to do.. These companies get away with murder.......

Now do you notice that the most popular oil weight produce or imported by these oil companies are 20w50, SAE40 very few 5w30, 5w20. 0w20, the market is not well regulated.......This is why imported oil is a big market..

When it comes why USA oil standard is the best .. This is because there is a regulated body that enforces what the government there is a standard..... Now I was told that European have a better standard than the Americans.. Whether this is true or not I don't know ........

When a car manufacture builds an engine .. The type of oil to be used is taken into account.. Each manufacture have their own oil specification for their engine.. This is why people complain about Germany cars etc These cars are very complex .......

For example .. A client wanted to know what type of oil his car uses .. I can't remember the type of car . I think it was a Porsche 2018 or something... So I looked it up at Mobil 1 website .. Their oil does not meet Porsche oil specification ......

So these oil of a thing is more than just sprinkling additives grin up and down. And these why the USA makes the best oil and Nigeria oil are not up to par to international oil

Additives used in synthetic oils are packed with carrier oils which are about 98%-96% petroleum oil.

What will SON do when its the almighty NNPC that is doing the importation, the same NNPC that is supposed to be responsible for ensuring the quality of PMS, AGO and DPK that comes into d country...when substandard has been institutionalized, u guys want me to kill myself with false hope for this country? Lori iro!!!

Fuel entering reserve frequently has nothing to do with the color and amount of sediment deposit in the fuel tank container. What that does is spoil ur fuel pump faster. Even if u top the tank to d brim everyday, the sediment will be accumulating in ur tank and the colour of the pump container and filter will still change.

And u r right mpg ratings can't match with our low grade pms.

Them suppose pull shoe wash legs before entering your car? Is it their fault that their legs are muddy? You're rendering a service man and there should be no discrimination between a rider who's feet are muddy and one who isn't.

One of the pointers of delivering a quality service is being nice to riders who respect themselves and act nicely too.

Bro u are offside ok, so if na there car dem go enter like dat with muddy legs? no na ehailing is not regular taxi bt ride-sharing, regular taxi billing is higher not only in Nigeria bt all over the world.

For eg u just finished washing ur car @ d car wash and u got a 500h trip and rider/riders leg was muddy and your next trip was long distance wat do u do?

To me ehailing is everybody respect ur self dis is ride-sharing not regular taxi, a regular taxi will even charge u for ur bullshit

Mr. Customer service, this is not abroad where you walk into the house with shoes on and even sleep on the bed with shoes on, here in Nigeria courtesy demands you take off your shoes when you see that a house you're going into has a rug on the floor okay.

In the aspect of car, how will a normal grown up person see a neat and well painted car pulled over to pick you up and you enter with you muddy legs without dusting it? Are you a kids? Dont you jave sense?
Some of them will still step on the rug even when they know a carpet is there, isnt that wickedness? On a N500 trip, do you know how much it takes to watch a car?

Lagos State government has a plan for its state(mega city) so okada is not in the picture... It's a simple thing, tye only thing is that they should look for alternatives for those that will lost their job to the ban of motor bikes so they don't invite more arm on what they're directly chasing out.

At this rate, we will answer this question 1million times for different cars. So let's do a blanket cover

U can use any car for ehailing if u own it and it can do Ojodu Berger to Lekki Phase 1 with 1k fuel. That journey is 3k minimum, no traffic, no surge. So if u minus 1k fuel, minus N800 commission u have N1,200 left for yourself. If thats good enough for u...the lesser the fuel consumption, d better. So take the car for a test drive.

If u r on rental, d car must be able to do Ojodu Berger to VI twice on 2k fuel.

Why I use fuel as a yardstick is because that's d biggest running cost in this business and I assume you own the car.

Now for cost of parts and ruggedity of your car, that's up to you...u know better.
