If establishment of companies also get the kind of attention given to creation and upgrading of higher institutions in Nigeria, we would not be in this mess.

Auchi polytechnic in Edo state should join the queue to be upgraded to a full fledge University.


This polytechnic has been in existence for years before the Babangida administration took it over from state control to federal control.

But it deserves to enjoy technical university status.

HND qualification should be scrapped.

I think the ongoing constitution review should have this in their recommendation after the main issue have be corrected in the Nigeria constitution.

They can employ few professors that will be needed
But Drs we get them plenty and many lecturers have been going for PhD.

Academic and other aspects we are good..we get clean environments, best academic calendar, Classrooms dey .but no edifice infrastructures. I mean a good one for standard institution.

This will be a more practical univerity , you know. Not just about paper like the other conventional universities.

It's just going to be name upgrade. All existing federal unis have been abandoned but keep adding more to the list of junky unis. Same thing goes to polytechnic. One can predict the quality of education our already dullard Nigerian secondary students will get there. Nigeria is gone, only its shadow is what we are seeing.

When will this upgrade going to take effect? Will those currently in HND graduate with a BSC cert?

Well, University or Polytechnic is nice but what's most important is creating opportunities to practice what has been taught.

We have many graduates today and more keeps graduating yearly into unemployment.
