1, Buy a naija used car
a, Patience and luck is key here, search jiji, nairaland, facebook market place, take a walk along your neighbourhood, you might see a car been sold by a person that wants to travel out (rare though)

b, Buy a car with bad engine or tranny (please avoid electrical nightmare), ensure it has a good frame and fairly good interior, price it down as much as you can while bearing in mind the cost of replace the engine and tranny
example, Toks Pontiac Vibe is between 2.2m to 2.7m, naija use around 1.8m, a friend bought a vibe 04 smoking engine, some torn interior, frame was good, needed some paint job for 800k, he installed engine for 320k, painted car 50k, did interior 20k

2, Find best altenative to popular cars and buy that. e,g Corolla toks 2.5m Honda civic toks 2m to 2.1m

3, Tell friend and family or colleageau that you want to buy a used car, they might just have one lying idle or in need or money that they can give you at a friendly price.

Toks Car prices will be very high in the coming month and might not be going down any time soon, so wise up guys

Those cars he mentioned are rugged cars with little fault and easy to maintain, but we Nigerians, we like luxury.

Check prices of cars
Toyota Camry 2008 is 3m plus

Nissan maxima 2008 is 1.8m

Honda Accord 2009 is 2.5m

Hyundai/kia sonata/ Optima 2008 is 2.4m

Peugeot 407 2009 is 2.4m

Don't the competition too pay duty? Why is Toyota more expensive

The only SUV or rather CUV made by the devil is land Rover freelander first generation, avoid it.

All Mercedes Benz are very okay except maybe the w211 E class 03 to 05 which has SBS issues though can be fixed and S class which is expensive to fix when out of manufacturer warranty.
