Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by Amenmay: 12:49am On Jun 04, 2021
I submitted application on January 23rd 2021. Biometrics on 28th January 2021. Somewhere in March or April my eligibility requirements started. On April 21, 2021, I received a request letter of an outstanding debt of 235CAD to the Crown I made another payment on April 28, 2021 and uploaded the receipt with explanation letter since then nothing have change. Even to request for medicals not yet and people are advising me not to go for the upfront medical. I have deferred my admission from May to September 2021. The thing is really surprising me oooooo...

Hi Everyone,

I have been a silent reader all along and this post is on behalf of my wife.

She applied for Canadian study visa on 18/02/2021 and since then the waiting game started. This morning, she opened her mail and coincidentally, 2 emails dropped from IRCC within the space of about 3 minutes. Could it be the good news we all have been waiting for? The emails stated that there were messages to be checked in the profile.

We summoned the courage to check her profile and lo and behold, it was an approval! Both PPR and BvL came at about the same time. We thank God Almighty for the success.

A lot happened in-between the time of the application and PPR. She had sent several webforms seeking to know status of the application. IRCC always responded with the generic emails, starting with "under active review" and then later to "in process". Yet we kept faith alive. She also had to migrate her international passport into a new one, just because her old passport would expire early next year, whereas she will be going for a 2-year program. When she obtained the new passport (this process took about 6 weeks), she notified IRCC by webform. She had to also defer her admission from Summer to Fall of 2021 and she notified IRCC by webform.

Her timeline is as follows:

- Upfront Medical: 7/12/2020 at QLife
- Applied: 18/02/2021
- Biometrics Request: 19/02/2021
- Biometrics done: 24/02/2021
- Medical Updated to Passed: 26/02/2021
-PPR and BvL: 3/06/2021

Her supporting documents are as follows:

Academic qualifications:

2) Transcripts for 1st degree in Nigeria
3) Transcripts for 2nd degree in Nigeria
4) IELTS Result
5) WAEC Result

6) Funding Letter from her supervisors, to the tune of CA$20,000.00

She is 39 years old and has 3 kids between 6-10. She was very anxious because of her age and also because she is seeking for a 2nd masters program. We weren't sure what IRCC would say to these.

The kids did not apply with her. They will apply for study permits as soon as her PP is stamped. I hope I am not leaving out any important info.

Nairaland has been a blessing to me and my family. Many thanks for the selfless service rendered by all the gurus on this thread. These efforts will return to you in blessings. I wish all study visa hopefuls, success. We shall all be congratulated at the end. The journey was tortuous, but she could not have given up. Please don't give up!

I do hope that this post has given fresh hope to someone on the journey. That is the essence.

With God all things are possible!!!

Congratulations!!!

It is pretty easy. You book on IOM Medicals or Qlife. you pay the medical fees which ranges from 45k-50k. They give you an appointment date. You go in and complete the medicals in a day. On completion, you are given a paper. You scan it and upload with your study permit when submitting. If you have already submitted, you can still raise web form and they can update and acknowledge it.

Note:You can only do the medicals in the two hospitals mentioned above for it to be regarded as valid by the Canadian embassy.

My explanation here may not be detailed enough but you can do a quick google search for more detailed explanation.

You can use the Barter by Flutterwave. They give you a virtual dollar card. I had no issues using it to pay for someone.
Your Nigerian card wont work bc of the $100 limit,

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by KikkyQ: 4:41am On Jun 04, 2021
I think it depends on your school. My school made our student transcripts available on our individual student's portal. The official transcript however could only be sent by my school.
winta2007:
How can I get a student copy of my transcript and use it to apply for admission in Canada. I do think that most schools in Nigeria do spend transcript direct to the school instead of giving it to the student. Most schools in Canada requires the submission of the student copy. How do I get it?

Does Canada gives visa for a one year diploma or post graduate certificate?

I would like to do a 2 or 3 semester program in web development.

Have a Bsc n Msc in civil engineering. I can breeze through d web dev curriculum as I have a portfolio even tho I have never worked in anything related to IT.

I will be grateful if anyone can recommend affordable web development graduate diploma or certificate programs to me.

Hmmmmmm, I didn’t get text message but my name was on the list of available passports. I collected it through third party. This means that, an immigration officer collected for me(paid 10k). I only met with him.

Sorry about this. At this point I suggest that if you know the name of the institution and the department he's studying, you go to the website of the institution (you can check through Google) then get the email of his department's coordinator or head of department or any admin staff in the department. Then you send an email to them regarding it. If he's a bonafide student, they would be able to reach him and give a feedback to you.
Do stay strong!!

Hi

To do a Masters in Economics (THESIS-BASED MASTERS) or a related field in Canada , you need to take your time & look for schools in Canada offering Economics at Masters level, check their faculty for their PROFESSORS/ASSISTANT PROFESSORS then look out for their respective RESEARCH AREAS in ECONOMICS, if you see the ones that aligns with your RESEARCH INTERESTS/PRIOR RESEARCH EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND, send a non-generic COLD MAIL to them each.

See the link below for
Schools offering Masters in ECONOMICS at CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES, take your time & google them one after the other and explore their FACULTIES to see their PROFESSORS and their respective RESEARCH AREAS in ECONOMICS

https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Economics&program_level_merged=Master%27s+degree&program_language=ENGLISH

Go through the contents in the link below, then relate it to your field of study (ECONOMICS) and research interests as it relates to your field of study/Academic Background/prior research experience. There are helpful information, documents & videos that can be of massive help to you e.g how to draft a Cold Mail, Sample Academic CV (CANADIAN STANDARD), how to search for PROFESSORS Who has Research Areas aligning with your field of study/research interest etc.

https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/561#101054570

As a Prospective Graduate Student (Masters), you need to have the following documents to kick start your GRADUATE SCHOOL JOURNEY in CANADA

- Academic CV (Well drafted Canadian Style Academic CV)
- Transcript (get the student Copy from your school)
- Cold Mail (To be drafted & sent to each professors based on their research areas)
- Statement of Purpose (SOP) for GRADUATE School (not SOP for Visa Application)
- Cover Letter (if required)
- Published Thesis (might be helpful) but not Compulsory etc.

There are GRADUATE SCHOLARS on this platform, If you have further questions along the line, do ask

Note: Your target should be for FALL 2022 (September 2022) or WINTER 2022 (JANUARY), so you can begin now in advance by getting your Transcript (Student Copy), Drafting your Academic CV, sending Cold Mails to Professors in your field of study & research areas related to your field of study.

If you package your graduate application well i.e Sending a banging Cold mail to Professor of Economics in Canada, A good Statement of Purpose (SOP) for Admission etc., you stand a chance of getting a Fully-funded or Partially funded Masters graduate opportunity in ECONOMICS

Canada Study Visa Application is another journey on its own, so get the Admission for your masters first

2 years PGD is better cos it gives 2-3 PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) which will very be helpful in your Application for PR (Permanent Residence) in Canada, cos it would give you enough time to process your PR and give you like 2-years CANADIAN WORK EXPERIENCE unlike 1-year PGD which gives only 1-year PGWP (1-year CANADIAN WORK EXPERIENCE)
