Web development if you want to earn fast. Data science is still a very new and upcoming field. Plus it's very easy to transition from web development to data science if you later want to. Even the data science thread the guy was a web developer for a year before he delved into data science.

It's very hard to get a job as an engineer if you dont have solid connections. If you are still in school, start learning coding now and take it very seriously. I used to spend my time watching movies in school. If I knew about coding then, I would be a senior developer now.

Only a few got actual data science Jobs.

Bros it's not paradise o but it's hands down the best thing anyone in Nigeria can do for themselves especially with the situation of the country. The only barrier is in getting a laptop.

Of recent, whenever people try to learn web development, I see comments desisting the person and telling them the field is over saturated and they should try things like data science and machine learning.

A lot of sillicon valley startups are removing location based pay. So if you in Nigeria manage to get job with them you will be earning the same thing with your counterparts there. Imagine earning 150k USD a year in one village in osun state.

Please web development is not saturated at all. That is a lie.

Nice post but do you think the pay is realistic? Today any company that can pay you 80k and above can sponsor you to the US. While it good to be optimistic, that's not an amount you easily earn remotely.

As in eh. I remember when I was going to school for marine engineering. They said it's this it's that. It took me a year to get one interview and the job was to work for free for 5 years to get pay. Most of my guys I graduated with no work o. Even if you want to apply to jobs there's no jobs to apply to. At least with programming I go wake up everyday enter linkedin and I fit submit like 40 CVS

Here too you need at least MSc to be able to get a Job as a data scientist even if you study Data Science as an undergraduate course
