Frequently is a big word to use here... Considering he has only scored two curlers.

Anyways, I hope he continues developing and becomes the next Insigne. I heard rumors that Leicester were interested.
Dortmund too

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr should be counting his blessings now that the ‘Battling Ram’ he has been looking for has arrived to add more firepower to the Super Eagles attack, IKENWA NNABUOGOR assures…

Two years ago, Gernot Rohr was only wishing a battling ram of a striker was in his team to bully his opponents to submission with a physical presence and basket full of goals as the Franco-German craved goal-filled harvest of goals.

A certain youngster Terem Moffi, who had just archived an eventful stay in the European backwaters in Lithuania to storm Belgium, fitted every bill of the battling ram Rohr was looking for.

Moffi had fired in 20 goals for his Lithuanian side for Belgian side KV Kortrijk to take a massive gamble on the then 19-year-old and the rest, they say, is history.

Rohr’s frantic search for a ‘Battling Ram’ despite having a very rich attacking frontline appeared to have ended with the 22-year-old Ogoja-born star finally making his way to the team on his merit.

From a well-deserved standby selection in the final 2021 AFCON double header qualifier to a full selection ahead of the double friendly against perennial rivals Cameroon, Moffi has finally landed to give his career the international lift it surely desires.

Rohr’s definition of battling ram should come in the mould of former Super Eagles’ striker Daniel Amokachi, who, like Moffi, upped his Eagles game, playing in Belgium for Club Brugge.

Big, strong, daring, bullish as Amokachi was in his heydays, Moffi possesses all of that and most importantly, consummately buries his fair share of goals.

Goals, more goals will gladden Rohr’s heart for a coach who has been given a tall order to bring home the AFCON title from Cameroon next year and the Franco-German would stop at nothing to impress his employers.

Moffi battles through training with Lorient
The 67-year-old tactician could make his employers proud with their fourth AFCON title after all his attacking line boasts of the most feared strikers in Africa and with the inclusion of the brand-new “battling ram” Moffi, his task could well be mission possible.

Moffi has finished a blistering season in France, scoring 15 goals in all competitions and helping his modest club FC Lorient escape relegation as his stocks continue to rise, admirably.

His incredible debut season also had him make the French Lique 1 Team of the Week a number of times and his goals against PSG, Monaco and Olympique Marseille also made headlines.

Those feats combined to make his Eagles dreams a reality and Rohr had no choice than to finally recognise his “Battling Ram” and may possibly proceed on a vacation now that Moffi is here.

He could still be Rohr’s joker in the Cameroon friendlies and could paint his debut with a goal or two.

Blessed with quick left foot, self-belief and a delightful direct playing style could run the Lions defence ragged should he get his chance with the Eagles.

If he’s not scoring against the Lions, he could be making the goals as he has also proved to be a great team player.

Welcome to the Super Eagles, Rohr’s Battling Ram!
Osimhen /Moffi partnership looks good ,could produce a similar result as Emenike/Ideye and Rashidi/Amokachi partnership

4-4-2 wouldn't be bad at all. If only Rohr could be more flexible and not just stick with 4-3-3 and 3-5-2. The only problem is that most of our wingers (Chukwueze, Kalu et Al) mainly function as inverted wingers and a 4-4-2 formation cannot accommodate that.

Or Iheanacho/Osimhen with the former dropping deep to recieve balls and then supply through balls for Victor to utilize with his pace. Iwobi/Osimhen can also work the same way.

It's MatchDay!!!!

The Super Eagles vs The Indomitable Lions

8 Afcon Titles between them (For context, Egypt alone has Seven... Chaaiiiii).

What to expect today:

▶️Today, we get to see Moffi make his debut.

▶️ Today, we get to see Ekong and Awaziem pair again for the first time since their CB Pair flopped against Serbia Pre-WC 2018. Let's hope their maturity and growth over time with their clubs will enable them gel well together as an Ekong-Awaziem pair have always struggled in the past.

Recall their pair also vs South Africa in Uyo.

▶️Abraham Marcus will be expected to make his debut too.

▶️Iheanacho to start alongside Onuachu most likely.

▶️Iwobi and Moses Simon to likely start as the wingers if we play a kind of 4-4-2 which could be interpreted as 4-2-3-1 with Iheanacho behind Onuachu and Iwobi and Moses Simon flanking them.

▶️Iwobi to come infield sometimes from the left/right creating room for the overlap for the fullback while he acts also as a Playmaker from the sides.

▶️Okoye to start in goal. Uzoho may play the second leg game. Time will tell.

Sadly, he has gone out with injury which was all LFC fans fear.

Liverpool injuries are not stopping anytime soon

Really sad for Arnold. Still missing out after everything that was said about him likely being cut from the squad. Then June 1 comes and he makes the squad only to pick up an injury the next day in a game that ends his Euros dream. Sad.

On a lighter note, Some Fans reckon Southgate would have gone with something like this had Arnold made it. grin

Algeria are playing against Mauritania, Tunisia, Mali and Burundi over the international break. So far, they’ve beaten Mauritania 4-1.

Should we be playing lesser opposition to stat-pad our players? Thoughts on this approach?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 11:55am On Jun 04, 2021
Playing Lesser Opposition will definitely help boost our players' stats but I think the team is more concerned now with staying in the Top 5 of the African rankings to avoid deadly rivals by the time the final round of the WC qualifiers come around. Rohr and Pinnick wanna see our team keep pushing up the World rankings.

Stat-padding by picking small oppositions is what some, if not most, of the top national teams in world football do in order to boost their players' stats and then years from now, you will begin hearing a player is on 100 international goals and some will begin wondering how he got there and in the end, no one will care that most of the goals came against lesser opposition.

Note: Top European teams have been doing this for a long time now but with the Euro nations league now in play, the chances of them always playing Lesser Opposition have dropped but they still encounter them in the Euros and WC qualifiers.

They are yet to decide who his replacement will be.
James Ward Prowse is a possibility and he's a midfielder. Or could this be Jesse Lingard's in after the initial drop? Or would it be another defender? Time will tell.
