Hello Nairaland people, I am in a serious dilemma, I am a legally married woman who is based in Nigeria and married to a Nigerian student in Canada, I have been unable to reach him for several months now, no communication whatsoever, his family members are not doing anything regarding the situation on ground, I am really worried on what could be the situation of things over there, he will be done with school in less than 4months. Please what could be wrong? He has promised to call for me soon, so I am surprised I cant reach him for this long. I really want to see my husband. This situation at hand as made me depressed and I have been unable to function. What do I do? Please help!

How many people earn that amount in Nigeria?
Basalt:

Very good question.
I said that because abroad has its own flaws. The cold temperature, not everybody is a fan of that.
But that's not an issue.

If Mr Adeniyi is earning #1,200,000 per month in Nigeria, he will save more money, have more investments and even be living larger than Mr Osas earning #1,200,000 in abroad because Mr Osas will be spending so much on accommodation, health insurance, tax, living expenses, transportation etc.

It's true that those abroad make more money on average but the cost of living abroad is very expensive.
For instance, an average student in Germany spends over 100k naira every month just for accommodation alone, some even spend nearly 200k sef. If you doubt me, ask any student doing his Msc in Germany.
Plus health insurance, money for food and other minor expenses

In Nigeria, the expenses is quiet less and you have more fun. You visit restaurants and eat nice foods you are familiar with, here in Germany we don't have a fun life.
It's always work work work. Even with money, you can't really eat what you want to eat Everytime.
For instance, I have been desiring to eat Ofe Nsala for long but I can't.
I have been desiring to eat Nkwobi and Afang soup but I can't even when I have the money.

In all honesty, if you really earn very big in Nigeria. When I mean very big, I don't mean 200k per month. I mean like one million and above after tax, then I really think it will be better being in Nigeria, in the rich man's area where there is more security and enjoy your money.
You raised a good point by mentioning security, yes abroad people enjoy maximum security and a simple call to the police solves most of your problems.
Infact, there is no single security man in banks, the banks are not even fenced like they are in Nigeria and the apartments don't even have security rods close to the windows.

It's common in the city center to see €30,000 jewelries displayed in a glass show without any iron protection and bulbs will even be switched on to show it even at midnight yet nobody attempts to break the glass to steal them at night.

Find him on LinkedIn, I'm sure that place, he has no fake profile there due to job search.
If you find his profile there, send him a message and let him know, you are worried, I can bet he would definitely read that LinkedIn message, if he's a Student.

I think You don't have any problem getting Msc admissions.
Though some companies will prefer employing younger and skillful employees.
I'm talking about professional jobs after studies and Msc in most German public universities takes about 3 years or even more to complete

Well try your luck bro.
No harm in trial but it is extremely hard to gain admission from Nigeria unless you have a very high GPA in your masters, even at that it's still very difficult. Germans see PhD as job and you even get paid while you research

As far as I know, you can apply for BSc using your HND transcript. There are people that are already in Germany with their HND transcript.
You are allowed to work as a student and you can even get a mini job like me if you like to earn more.
I have never seen anyone who got Msc straight with Nigerian HND.

Don't you have his Facebook ID or whatsapp?

I suggest you also try sending him email and LinkedIn message.
If he doesn't reply, then he is purposely ignoring you.

What a fantastic GPA from a fantastic department.
I would recommend you to search for scholarships in Germany.
Information technology is a hot cake in Germany.
Do everything possible to leave Nigeria and you would thank me later few years from now.

I will always bless the day I took the decision of leaving Nigeria same thing with all of my friends here.

Hello Basalt,

Thanks for all you do.

I have background similar to yours. I saw a scholarship in Geoinformatics, but after my research, it seems there are few jobs for people with that degree in Germany.

I don't know if I should continue with the scholarship application, or just forget it and search for other scholarships, I really need your advice.

Kindly advise a brother.
