Right? and more are being born daily. no job, nothing. and we wonder why there is crime everywhere.

Honestly if not for internet fraud becoming popular amongst the youths, even the president would relocate from aso rock because of the rate of violent crime.
How can Nigeria ever get better at this rate?

Reforming the police is key. And lack of employment is also an issue.
cops in Nigeria doesn't carry out neighborhood patrols in most places, all my 18yrs in naija i never once saw police patrolling (albeit that was a llng time ago, i doubt much has changed). where i live now, day and night, in the rain, snow, sun etc, policing never stop. distribute these guys around sensitive areas, provide them with better communication devices, body Cameras, ability to call for backup and that backup arrives in less than 5 mins, this gives a police officer the confidence that he wouldn't be left alone if he found himself in a bad situation.
more 911 call centers, better pay for officers, lower pay equals bribery demands, pay them more.
educate these cops, how to read maps, some cops can't tell NW corner from SE corner lol. how to use computers, secure crime scenes, store evidence. the list goes on and on.
I hate how soldiers are involved in things they have no business being involved in, those guys are stretched too thin as it is. police need to step up

The funds required is the first problem to encounter, how can it be solved?

Unemployment!!
Unemployment!!
Unemployment!!

Greater than 35% and climbing everyday. The worst rate in our history.

We can talk about ways to solve this too.
But one thing to note before that is that many people are actually not interested in honest means of livelihood, many want to live big with little work.
There are countries with far worse unemployment rate than Nigeria, the crime rate isn't as high as ours.
Check South Africa's current unemployment rate and compare our crime rates to theirs.

Mind you, the special constabulary police initiative was meant to solve the problems of community policing(which involves patrolling), man power problem and other major problems of the police force, few states have implemented it and this that have implemented it, it seems not to have achieved results.
Only Lagos state with the RRS initiative has actually improved policing efforts. Some other states are trying to some extent too(e.g Osun state with the harmomised vigilante group) but more needs to be done.
In addition, expecting a single police force to be in charge of effective patrolling every neighborhood in Nigeria will be very costly and extremely difficult, but sharing the funding and responsibility to all levels of government will make it easier and this brings about separate police forces at the federal, state and local levels.

Every so called developed countries out there are mostly in debt, if not all.
increasing tax revenue is also important, otherwise we won't be able to fund anything. and we gotta increase our debt, most countries do it. right now our debt is too low. we gotta borrow more and put that money into good use.
Tiny Israel is over 200 billion dollars in debt, USA is over 14 trillion in debt. even Saudi Arabia.
We gotta give out long term loans at low interest rates to our companies, so they can expand and hire more people, upgrade how we do things, establish trade schools across the country so our youths can get modern skills acquisitions, rather than hiring construction workers from china.
These things aren't rocket science. its sad how we lag so far behind

yes, community policing is usually a local thing. here in NY i think there are only about 4k state police officers, the others are local police officers, in the tens of thousands, every region has its own Mayor and local police department

why? here in the US they still have highly disciplined cops and well respected, and high school diploma is the minimum in most depts. all they need to learn are taught to them in the academy, then they join the force as a rookie assigned to seasoned police officers who also teach them. Its all about the quality of discipline and training, higher level academic certification not needed to be an effective police officer, but i suppose its better grin
so i say if we can get cops with higher degrees, sure, but what if we couldn't get enough, so those with high school diploma should be given a chance too

GEJ actually won over 25% votes in the NW and NE which is what the electoral act specifies. Buhari won overwhelmingly in the NW and NE in 2011 but didn't get the 25% minimum in most states in the South. That's why he didn't win then.

These countries have meaningful plans to repay the loans before they borrow. In fact no one will borrow you money that they know you can't pay back. The little Nigeria has borrowed, we are still thinking of how to repay. How then are we going to be able to repay more than the current debt?

The problem is revenue generation. Nigeria has one of the most least revenue:GDP ratio in the world. How do we increase this revenue before we even start thinking of borrowing more.

In addition, we have billions of dollars in stolen funds all over the world. How can we get these money back.

well the debt those countries owe keep rising, they aren't paying anything back lol, maybe only the interest amd minimum due, same way we little people pay off our credit cards.
you're telling me America is going to pay back over 14 trillion? sheet, won't happen. Those countries have good Fiscal policies, robust tax base etc, and good credit rating.
apart from the govt, we regular people here also use credit score for everything, my own score is 710 for example lol, which means with good income i can approach a bank and get a loan to buy a house or car etc.
even to rent an Apartment here, you must have a credit of over 680 in new york, minimum. otherwise no one will rent to you.
so if Nigeria have a robust tax base, generate good income and have good credit rating administered by international financial institutions, and strong Fiscal policies in place, we can borrow more

I still maintain that no one will borrow anyone money if they are aware you won't be able to pay it back. US debt is over $21 trillion, trust me they've paid at least 2 times that amount already via debt servicing.
At some point, those who own the debts will decide to forgive it, only after you've paid back more than the original amount in interest and not before. No one is really stupid to do that you know.

That's what i said chief. there's always balance due, but majority of the money owed is there. America's debt wont go down because they aren't earning enough to fund the country anymore. so it will always borrow, but it also has good credit rating. which was what i said. you pay whatever balance is due. which is why Nigeria need to work on its income generating capacity and tax base etc.
with househd total networth in the US at over 90 trillion dollars, guess they can afford it, all they gotta do is tax their people more. that's why i said Nigeria need to up its game. we are saying thesame thing
For every dollar spent in the US, they borrow a percentage of it, can't remember the amount, i think btw 5 and 25 cent or so. which is like 1 Naira to 5 or 25 kobo

That's actually one of the few things the current attorney-General has been doing. Repatriating looted funds, settling financial cases like the P&ID case that Nigeria would been forced to pay over $9 billion to the company, the malabu case that Nigeria unfortunately lost but there are renewed efforts to reopen the case and so on. In the aspect of finance, the Attorney-General has really tried.

The problem with income and profit tax in Nigeria is that very few are within the tax basket. The vast majority are in the informal sector where it is very difficult to tax.
As for me, increasing the VAT to about 20% will bring in lots of revenue for years, and with this, everyone will be generating revenue for the government.
It will serve as a way of recieving part payment for what government provide for free.

I've been to Benin republic, Benin republic has more better power supply and more better road. See Nigerian government no dey try at all.

3-4 weeks ago, there was a very serious riot in ikorodu, do you know why? Bad road caused a serious accident and people died a very painful death. Imagine make trailer fall on top keke napep wey 5 people dey inside embarassed more than 4 people died on that terrible day because of a bad road. I'm talking about the ikorodu-shagamu expressway. The axis the accident happened is very close to LASPOTECH main campus.

While I was driving through benin republic roads, I no see police checkpoint and everything was so orderly. If you see as people fear their police with just ordinary kondo shocked On Nigerian roads, is always checkpoint upon checkpoint. Policemen in checkpoint B go dey look as policemen in checkpoint A dey search all over your cars and check your particulars, dem fit waste your time for like 30mins, when you comot, policemen in checkpoint B go still search your car and check your papers, even though the checkpoint no fit be up to a 5 mins drive between themselves. This kind of madness does not happen in Benin republic.

Bro, forget am jawe.
