Hey guys , what is a good interview response for not taking GRE since there was a lockdown and the covid pandemic? The student already acquired a Full GA position in Masters in early childhood education at ETSU.

Hello all, please can anyone help with answering this?

Check all the transcripts this fall. Did you see one Transcripsts that the VO ask did you do the GRE? They know some Schools waived it due to covid that's why they are not asking. Except you mentioned it to the VO that you did the GRE.

Hello House, pls I paid visa application fees for me and 2 of my kids as dependents. Now I want to pay for sevis for just me and one kid alone because I intend to travel with just one. Do I need to fill another D-160 ro show a reduction in dependents? Thank you.

Were you given any scholarship, assistantship or partial funding by the school?
MistaJoey:

Its quite obvious that the sponsor is the reason for the denial. Family friend is really a long shot. Feel free to drop a better transcript with your full profile for others to advice.

You only pay one SEVIS Fee and that is for your own. You don't pay for your dependents.

Hey Sinpleguy

I am not sure I understand your question but if you are asking about how I got my application waived, I applied when they were offering application fee waiver. I know Kent does that during their homecoming week which is usually around October. However, should you mean how I got my funding for education? I got an Administrative Assistantship. I hope I answered your questions!
SimpleGuy001:
Hi Bigsecret, saw your diary today and you made mention of funding for applications you made to schools abroad. If I may ask, was it a scholarship position you got or.........

Thanks as I await your response.

What is so wrong with sharing the name of school you’re accepted into after getting your visa approved? I don’t know if it’s a Nigerian mentality but it’s entirely icky. I remember going through Nairaland and seeing a post by someone here saying that she doesn’t understand why so many Nigerians will apply to one school. Just imagine that thought. I agree that there may be “lazy” people that will reach out to you for assistance on application or whatnot but you can choose to help or tell them to do their research. Isn’t this platform made to assist one another? One person’s light doesn’t stop your own light from shining.
Pefuele:

Someone from here called me few days back to give him Schools to apply. I told him you have to put in the time to do that yourself and learn. If I have to do it for you it doesn't come free. The truth is I put in lots of time to research about Universities not just in the US but also Aussie, Canada, UK and Germany. I started reading this Student VISA thread from 2015. I read compilations of all the transcripts. It wasn't easy putting in lots of time but it is worth it. Today, I can view someone profile & tell what are the probable school he/she can apply.

Thank you to everyone that constantly engage with this thread. I’ve learnt so much by reading people’s transcripts and from all the information shared. This is my own little contribution.

Interview scheduled for 8:45am, done probably at 9:50am

VO: please pass your passport and I20
Me: Good morning. Then I go ahead to pass the requested documents.

VO: Good morning. What school are you going to?

Me: I’ll be going to TAMU for my Masters in public Health with my major in Epidemiology.

VO: What will this course do for you?

Me: I’ve worked as a doctor for 5 years and I’ve seen that as a clinician you can only help people on a one-on-one basis. With my public health degree, I’ll be able to affect the populace on a larger scale. I also found out from my experience working during the pandemic that Nigeria has poor data computing and analyzing skills and my degree in epidemiology will equip me with epidemiological skills to...

VO: Okay that’s fine. How long is your program? Is it one year, two years?

Me: The program is for two years with a one year optional practical training. (My i20 has a 3yr validity period on it)

VO: Who will be funding this trip?

Me: My husband

VO: What does he do?

Me: He works in Bleep as Bleep

VO: Have you been to the US before?

Me: Yes. In 2017 and 2018

VO: So both your kids are US citizens?

Me: Yes. But there’s three of them actually.

VO: And will you be traveling with your family? Husband and the kids?

Me: My husband will not be going with me because of his work obviously but my children will join me at some point. They’re too young to be separated from me for the entire length of my study. I plan to go alone now then they’ll join me later.

VO: That’s okay. I will be approving your visa. Will hold onto your passport. Take your i20. You’ll need it at the port of entry and this slip will show how to retrieve your passport. He hands me the white slip as my heart bursts in gratitude to God.

Fam, Not a single document was checked and I went there armed with all my delivery details, zero balance, bank statements, certificates, etc

I want to appreciate Chibertha. I remember reaching out to her when I saw she had a similar situation as me and she gave me a very vital tip that helped me.

Finally, I’ll like to say that I’m not sure that enough emphasis is placed on HOW you fill your form. I think that a huge percentage of the decision to approve or refuse the visa has already been made by what your form and profile says. Don’t outsource it to anyone. Do it yourself. No one knows you better than you and when you’re not sure, ask questions and get it right on the form.

After all is said and done, the Grace of God is the most important factor. That day, as we stood on the queue hearing everyone get their interview done, the black VO (there were three of them that day and the other two were Caucasian) did not give anyone no matter what they said. I remember my heart beating so fast. So many refusals that day. I’m just thankful to God!!!

N.B Apologies for the lengthy post.

Good day friends, trust we are doing great? I pray may God grant all our heart desires. I need some clarification on my SEVIS and it has been disturbing me. I don't want the SEVIS to be my stumbling block.

I paid my SEVIS fee in December 2019 with the hope of using it in august 2020 but was unable to due to covid, so i differed my admission till this year. In Jan this year, the ISSI coordinator in my school told me that I don't need to pay a new SEVIS fee that she has updated my SEVIS record. But I just learnt that SEVIS is for a year last week. I have been issued my i20 with the old SEVIS number so I don't know what to do now? Will I pay a new SEVIS fee and inform the school? How about my i20? Please help me O. I am on my knees. I am about to secure a date. Anybody with suggestion or similar experience? Thanks in anticipation.
you can transfer your Sevis to your new Sevis number go to www.Fmjfee.com

I would say its the other way round - Nigerian mentality is what drives people to sit here demanding others share the names of schools they were accepted into so they don't have to put in any effort.

I'm confused. Which is it? If people are free to tell others to do their own research then what is the point of your post?

V.o- so what are you studying and and school

Me- I will be studying automobile automotive mechanics at salt lake community college

V.o- how will this program help you

Me- Always had passion for repairs and maintenance , so getting quality education at this college would enquip me with the right knowledge to be a top automobile expert since my location in nigeria lack adequate professionals .. I can render efficient services unlike the roadside mechanics

V.o I will not be granting you and passed me the blue paper

Note- the blue paper says lack of home ties , am 34 going for my first degree , I don't have a kid yet , my sponsor is American and not family

Advice needed on reapplying for a new interview .. can I say I have a kid in the next 1-20 form I fill to get better home ties .. is it possible
Should I go to abuja next?

Everything was not your in your favour hence your denial.

At 34 and you are just going for your first degree. You are not even going to a university but a community college and also your sponsor is an American. This shows nothing than an intending immigrant profile.

In your next DS-160, if you say you have a child as you are already contemplating on doing so, why did you not include it in your first application? Abi na now now you don born? And this is not about running to Abuja or Kafachan.

Go back to your drawing board and come up with a convincing application, if you have a first degree apply for Masters and see how it goes.

There is nothing wrong in sharing the name of school someone applied to but It’s always good for aspirants to make research themselves and choose schools that suits their profile. We have got many people out there who doesn’t want to put in any effort and It’s not good enough...You made the point in your comment as well.

Please guys, I need help. I renewed my passport since 23 April this year. Till now, the passport is not ready. I was at Ikoyi office in Lagos today. Still nothing. They were calling names instead of checking with the enrollment number - which I find repugnant. Long story short, I waited till they called all the surnames starting with "OL" still no show.

My school resumes first week in Aug and I haven't still booked appointment for Visa. Please what can I do to get the passport out next week?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Rhonah: 11:01am On Jun 11, 2021
Amidst all the goodnews of visa approvals, some that were rejected would probably not post their reject or talk about what went down and I completely understand that feeling. But this is to remind you that you have to reach out to people here either publicly or someone privately who is experienced enough and explain what happened. Let them guide you and make sure you try again. Getting admission is good but trust me when you're funded in anyway it is even better. This is not to discourage those without funding whatsoever as we've seen several cases of admissions without funding and they still get their visas but while celebrating your admission from that school, reach out to the department for funding. It helps your America dream and also make your visa interview easier in most cases. Don't give up on the quest for a better life outside Nigeria because you were denied just once. We've seen cases of 7 denials and he got it on the 8th attempt. Go back and pay the mrv (visa) fee and let people help you prepare better and you continue trying till you get that visa. Don't run away, it'll pay off in the end. And yes I'm talking to you Reading this that was denied recently and you're thinking of not trying again. GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN

You may have to beg or threaten the person you paid to. The lies about booklet is obsolete so your passport should be ready.
