Good Evening to all the Bosses in the house. I know this isn't a mechanic thread but I feel I could get help here depending on one or two people's experiences.

I have been noticing a cranking sound beneath my 2004 Toyota Corolla. Mostly when I am using the brake during traffic. However, yesterday after entering a flooded road, I started hearing the same sound whenever I am making a turn.

Someone told me it's a problem with the shaft. Do I need to buy a new shaft or can it be repaired?

Don't get me wrong, riders do abuse wait times but if one apologizes then it obviously wasn't intentional.

Nobi for naija.
Olosho go book you make you dey ground dey wait, even before she enter bathroom to bath. And 90% of the times, they always say sorry; when their act was intentional.

When I was staying in egbeda, I came out 5:30am one morning, hoping to get Bolt's morning bonus. Got a request inside Gowon Estate around 5:45am, (rider was going to Ilupeju) called rider to let her know that I was 4mins away and she said no problem, that she's about coming down.

I drove to pickup, swipe arrived and waited for 5mins, but rider ain't out yet. I called and she said she's about coming down now, that she was packing her food flask. I got relived, hoping that she'll be out in a minute or less.

Waited for 10mins of paid waiting but rider haven't come out. I called again. She said sorry but she's just about locking her door now.

20mins paid waiting, this lady is not yet out. I called again. She apologized again and said she's just locking the door again, that I'll see her now.

(the time was already 6:15am and I was already fuming cos I know I can't chase the bonus again and I can't cancel, having the belief from each of the calls that she's done already. So no need to cancel since she's almost out).

38mins paid waiting I didn't see her. I decided to give her a final call before I cancel. Then I saw her approaching the car.
I expected her to apologize immediately, but she rather greeted me, dropped her bag at the back seat, said she's coming and went back inside. Telling me that she forgot something inside.

I was quite pained at this point cos I've lost 50mins already and decided not to proceed with the trip anymore, turned on my Uber app, got a request immediately to FMC Ebute Metta.

Note: It was usually difficult to get request early morning in egbeda that time, there are days I'll come out 5am and wait till 7:30am without a single request then. Most of the trips you'll even get will be going to dead destinations (abulegba, Lasu, Ikotun, Ipaja). The best I'll get is Ikeja. So I didn't want to lose this one that'll take me to civilization.

I waited for her to come back, got into the car, yet no apology from her. I just politely told her that I can't proceed with the trip anymore. She got angry. Asking me why I allowed her to stress herself to come out before telling her. I said nothing and allowed her to take her things and went back to her apartment before I proceeded to pickup my Uber rider.

Exactly.
emmancecute:
What is he/she doing in an undesirable place in the first place? This thing is not rocket science, whenever a rider request a trio and a driver accept, you as a rider will see the location of driver on your app too. You can track your driver, to know the time he will get to ur pickup. The app offers you a waiting time of 5mins, I can give you additional 5mins, but anything after this gets on my nerve.
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 5:47pm On Jun 12, 2021
There is now we can argue this. Whenever a rider is making a request, the ETA always shows. So no excuse. Riders should be available for pick up max 5 mins after driver has arrived. I had same annoying experience 2 days ago. It was my first trip. Got a request from Osapa. Rider was going to Obalende. I was even rushing to get there being indriver. Rider called and I told her I should be available in 4 mins time. I called her to let know I was around after using the entrance code. 10 mins after I called again, she told me THEY were coming. I needed the trip cos I had something to do in that area. I waited for another 15 mins and called her, same story. In all, I waited for more than 45 mins this idiot didn't show. I had to cancel trip and let Indriver take the Commission for a trip that didn't happen. I actually didn't click on Arrive at the PU, so twas a loss. 2 mins after I left, the idiot called asking me where I was. I painstakingly cursed her for wasting my precious time. She was not even angry. Still asking me to come pick them. I told her to go order Bolt. The surge don rise wella by then.
See, most of our female riders are terrible in terms of keeping drivers waiting. To pick request at night these days on Indriver dey hard me. Reason being that the rider may not show and if you cancel, app will deduct the commission, though they claim it will be refunded after 30 days. Imagine, a whole 30 days. I presently have about 6k in the refund account. It is just pure evil to make a request and not be readily available when the driver arrives.

It’s raining and there is no surge in Lekki phase 1 , I’d rather stay put than drive through those Lekki lagoons for stipends.
Meanwhile make I drop this gist here

Yesterday I started the hustle (I started very late though) with a resolution that no matter how tempting an order to mainland is I wouldn’t take it, in the process and amidst other blacklisted destinations my cancellation rate shoot up to 65%. Then I said to myself I have to stop canceling orders now

Few minutes later a request came in, not far from where I parked. Destination Lekki phase1, pick up Cmart admiralty way.

Just before heading to pick up, I called rider I’m outside already (don’t want her delaying me for long for a ride of #500) she said she’ll join me in a minute. Drove down to pick up, still no sign of rider. 5 minutes later I called again,
Rider: I’m checking out now I’ll be with you shortly (I was already fuming but I been no wan spoil my gentleman, so I kept it cool)

10 minutes later I called again
Rider: I don’t know why this guy is this slow, but I’m next on the queue, will be out soon
5 minutes later still no sign of rider

A thought of zooming off in anger crossed my mind, but then I thought would she really understand the gravity of what she did if I zoomed off? So I made sure my doors was on lock and waited till this daughter of eve came out

Some minutes later, Saw her through my rare mirror checking out my plate for confirmation, then she proceeded to open the back door but oops! It’s locked
Came a little forward to the passenger side window to knock, I looked at her with a smiling face and wind down a bit. These were my exact words to her
‘’Oh! You’re finally out (she said sorry bla bla bla....please your door is locked) you see that wait wey you been no wan wait, you go wait am. You wasted my time but it’s fine (she said but I’ve apologized now) It will just be nice to give you a doze of your own medicine’’
Put my gear in reverse and screed off ( saw her standing with her shopping bags, looking at the car in awe through my side mirror)

For a moment in between, I actually thought of picking her but I was really mad, mad at the fact that she wasn’t ready and yet she placed an order. More so, If I had picked her it would have ended in bad rating cause I know how crazy I can get with words at times

Some thing similar was what happened when Uber blocked my account.

Got to pickup after calling this responsible daughter of jezzebel it took her over 25min or paid time to come out with me calling for more than 5times.

I didn't want to cancel all those while because uber has been sending me messages about my cancellation rate being high.

Just at the time I cancelled and was about to go was when this stupid, idiotic mbecile and good for nothing girl came out, opened my door and hooped into the car at the back seat, "oga let's go"!

Get outta my car! I said with a call voice... She still didn't understood the message ir the gravity of my annoyance at the time... "I said let's go"! She said again.

B4 i could finish my second "get outta my car" the fool jumped out and banged my door.

No rumours, no sense of belonging...

If I call her name now people will attack me and call me names...

Rhe next day Uber blocked my account permanently till now... Tho, they've mailed me severally to provide some doc's and get my account reactivated but menh... its been 8months down the line now I don't even miss Uber 1 bit.

They can go to help for all I care unless they return with their 3% after 20trips.grin I know it will never be.

In all, the rider came out 9.30am after waiting for 20 mins at his location. He came out as if he finished his bath not quite long but has been requesting since the time (8.57am) i got his first request.

In essence, people are abusing that privilege, period!

The first image shows the time of the second request but he came out 9.30, while the second image was the first request which was cancelled.

Honestly, wait time has grossly been abuse by many Nigerian riders. Time is really of essence in this racket.

How do you contend with the monstrous traffic in this our Lagos road together with abuse use of longer wait time with most of these riders. If care is not taken you would be tagged lazy driver by most of these our dashboard warriors displaying thousands of naira as income for the week.

Let me quickly share my experience with one of my rider on Tuesday.

I was at Ajose Adeogun when her request came in few minutes past 5pm when everywhere was showing red.

PU was at KURAMO WATER CLOSE on a surge of 1.6. She called immediately and I told her am already on my way. She was trying to give a full description when she said her call card is about to finish then I called her back to get details.

I called her as I arrived and said she's already on her way. 5mins wait time elapsed. 4mins of wait time, I put a call through to her she said almost at the gate and was asking what's the colour of your car. Long story short, she came out after 13mins of paid wait time with her a white guy perceived to be her boyfriend.

Her destination was suppose to be SPAR at ADEOLA ODEKU but she requested a stop at a supermarket in BISHOP ABOYADE COLE Street and promised not to spend more than 5min. She and her white Male friend kept me waiting for more than 25min of several calls as she kept telling me they are already coming out of the mall.

They both went and sat at the back seat unapologetic. As I tried to crank the engine of my car, my engine refuse to start. I checked the battery head and other stuffs before it came up. Time spent trying to revive the car is not up to 2mins.

All the while trying to bring my car to life, these duo never said a word. Just as it came up and about moving, next word I heard from her was, you have also wasted our time and who's going to pay for that. She further said you people like complaining of your own time without minding of other people's time. I just kept mute cos I was already boiling inside me and wouldn't want to utter words that will make me flare up as she had already made me loose valuable part of surge period to a meaningful request ride.

As we were driving out of the mall, she said I should take them to EKO HOTEL and I told her to update her request. She said I am still taking her to SPAR and return back to her initial pick up.

When we got to Eko Hotel Roundabout, she called a groundnut seller and requested I pull over. I told her I need to look for a convenient packing space cos I would be obstructing other vehicle behind. It's a busy Roundabout and LASTMA her even around the corner. She insisted I stop and allow the groundnut seller into the car front seat with her wide tray of cooked groundnut. I said NO I don't allow that. The groundnut eventually rushed up and the smellos couldn't even afford to buy groundnut of N100 as they were pricing it for N50. I just shake my head for them.

We got to the front of Eko Hotel where those Bureau de change mallam are, they said i wait until their Bureau-de-change mallam come.

While waiting they kept on talking that am impatient, am this am that together with her dirty white boyfriend. I flared up, scolded them and walked them out of my car. They said they won't pay me and I told them to use the money to go get groundnut they couldn't afford.

Trip ended N1,700, I gave 1star and later noticed my rating sharply came down to 4.73 from 4.83

I quickly wrote bolt about their fraudulent act and misconduct. Bolt apologise and said her account has been blocked until I confirm they've fully paid me my money and if after 7days not being paid that I should report back to them for compensation.
