.... to the extent that someone wrote that 'One day the Hausas will fight and reclaim their lands from the Fulani.'

Whatever that means.

A case of my hates, projections and complexes must be yours.

Honestly, it's gory and sickening.

But is the open grazing ban not supposed to address that?

It is supposed to be 'happily ever ever' with that law, but the cry is even louder.

Are you sure you're sincere?

Is there any cultural or religious prohibition on you for cows?

Is what you're putting as a comparison targeting a certain demographics?

Does the beer ban affect only Igbos or Hausas as well?

Banning cow grazing is discriminatory because it is targeted at the Fulani. It is xenophobic and unconstitutional.

Is there any section of constitution prohibiting piggery and alcohol business?

Ban of pig and beer business affect non-muslims.

In what way is beer selling a cultural heritage for the Igbo?

And pig farming is in no way a problem in the North. It's only that the Muslims don't engage in it.

So correct your submission

Constitutions are interpreted

You won't find specifically where beer selling or spare parts selling are mentioned specifically. But anything that's seen as inimical to the well-bei of society can be deliberated on by law

Therefore, if it seems reasonable that cattle rearing infringes on your rights, laws must be made prohibiting it.

The contention most have ragarding this law is that it is political and dangerous.

Laws have been made prohibiting certain legal business due to security concerns -okada business, hawking in express for examples.

Was the law framed like that?

But still, even in the North, you can't graze on graveyard or protected areas.

Know also that the North too has herder-farmer clashes but is treated as wrongs to be tackled by law, not as an ethnic affair.

OK you're getting it now

It is acceptable if it's done to protect the society, but most view the grazing ban as politics, that's why it is contentious.

Open cow grazing is an existential threat to southerners, more important than culture or religion. Culture and religion can not exist without humans.

What's next after the ban?

Every adversity have a seed if equal and greater benefit.

This law made to disgrace Buhari may be to the advantage of the cattle rearers. One way or the other they'll realize that they are just unwanted and maybe settle down in the North.

It's better for the Igbos (as they started to do) to come and buy here and go and sell in the East.

If you burn the cows or steal the onions, it's your brothers' own you ransacked.

Now you are discussing in the language of logical men and not cows. The advantages for herders and even the farmers are too numerous to count. From stopping cattle rustling to avoidance of clashes between them and farmers which results in avoidable deaths, to also the dignity of being humans. The culture of herding cows from one place to another which set the herders to predictable danger is archaic, whereas the real owners called alhajis are in the towns enjoying modern life while most times very young boys and men are set for such voyages. The era of nomadic movements should come to an end, and let everyone of them be integrated into the urban and modern life: let them ranch their cows, let them go to school and pursue other life ventures and dreams. History would be fair to them as far as nomadic history is discussed by generations to come. They have made history. Now is time to join the rest of the world. The idea of living in secluded places and not wanting to live among others peacefully is wrong. We are all one big human race. Fighting wars to show superiority and conquest is not fashionable at all. Everyone of them needs to sheet their swords and negotiate. They have the means to purchase lands for ranching, let them buy and do it just like every business person does.

Good.

The complaints, it is believed by many, is the measures could be political. Some believe that all this is directed at Buhari and may go away once he's not there, since it has always been managed for centuries before now.

Getting back to your suggestions, in the North, they don't even need to buy any land. They mostly set up camps and nobody disturbs them.

The issue is fodder, which necessitates movement once it's low.

Growing fodder and buying it is the solution.

It needs organization but not impossible. Being used to a certain way of life may take time to change.
Re: Anyone Who Understands The 'Southern' Rabid Fear Of The Fulani? by gheekhone: 11:00pm On Jun 14, 2021
This is the reason why Buhari has failed as a leader. Instead of looking at an argument based on its merits, he'll brush it aside as politically motivated and unto the opposition. From a leader that's plain wrong.

Yes, it may take time, it should be done. The needless deaths have become too much. Combining this with what's happening in the northeast, and with bandits/kidnappers all over the country, is it any surprise secession calls have become mainstream again?

This level of insecurity coupled with the economic hardship all over the country has got us here. Good leaders would rise to the occasion but apparently not these ones who are more interested in the blame game, their pockets, or generally just lack ideas.
