emmanuelewumi: They actually seized some of their money and properties that could be found when them FBI, Interpol and other international law enforcement agencies came for them. Everyone thought VGC would be the next best thing. Go and look at VGC today. Enter inside old Ikoyi and you will find estates that nobody wants to live in. Dolphin Estate nko? Flooding killed the dream. It’s always easier when we have the benefit of hindsight. 2 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 11:33am On Jun 17, 2021 |
emmanuelewumi: Don’t mean to be a spoil sport but looking at it this way can give someone a wrong impression that wealth is being created in the 15 years. You may be getting coupons to pay your rent and school fees but at the end of the tenor your will get just your principal whose value and purchasing power would be way way less than when you invested that money. Basically, the coupons that you are getting is not free money. It is your own money that is just being amortized for you in 15 years 5 Likes |

May I share a little experience on why i like buying the best cars i can afford, those days when i was hustling on the streets. If you trek to a company or drive a rickety car, bros you will stand by the gate and follow all due processes at the mercy of gateman and even tips on top to allow you pass while your competitor will drive pass you with shouts of "open door for oga". meanwhile he is coming for same thing like you, just because he drives a good car. My very first car was highlander, e get why, to open business doors but people might think what's wrong with that jobless guy driving highlander back then. If i can afford it, why not own it? if you have an investment to take care of it already, why not own it? i hate living lower than my sweat so therefore, my policy is that for every new (x)m naira i will get a car not more than 25%. Life is too short. "man know thyself and do thyself no harm" that's for those that bother about security. 5 Likes |

Lazyyouth4u: Some people enjoy the the steady income, N10 million at 15% coupon for 15 years will give the investor a total coupon of N15 million and he will get his capital of N10 million. Making a total of N25 million. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 11:47am On Jun 17, 2021 |
emmanuelewumi: Compared to another investor who invested the N10 million in a fixed income fund at an annual return of 14% and also reinvested his dividend, he will have N71 million in 15 years. Not easy to reinvest or compound your bond coupons, reason why it is better to use part of the coupons to buy fixed income funds for compounding |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 11:57am On Jun 17, 2021 |
emmanuelewumi: I understand but just thought to throw that out there for anyone that gets excited when they hear the gbagaun alert for coupon and think it is free money like gbagaun for dividend of a company that is doing well. If I hear gbagaun for my bond coupon, I better go and reinvest that money if I don’t want to cry premium tears when I receive my principal that will most likely be worth nothing in 15 years I am better off reinvesting all the coupons and meeting my recurrent expenses with my regular income. 3 Likes |
