The fact that anyone can hop on here to transact with an anonymous account makes it the ideal place for scammers to thrive.

Many of them come here to buy and sell stolen funds and that is the bitter truth. It is now totally up to the individuals trading to approach each trade with extreme caution.

I do not subscribe to the thought that anyone here can be trusted. The only person you can trust on a place like Nairaland is someone you know personally or someone you know their social media activities and reputation elsewhere like Facebook. Nairaland was designed to be a faceless forum and scammers are actively taking advantage of this to ply their trade here.

It's even made worse by the fact that some of those who have become popular have now constructed an iron throne here to monopolize everything, defame and bully those who don't subscribe to their ways. Imagine how Dangote has monopolized certain sectors of the economy and the various dirty tactics he uses to keep competition at bay... Then you'll realise how certain persons here are doing same, albeit under the shadows of the popularity they have gained.

I believe this is true because I have seen this play out even on forums where there's a certain level of identity verification compared to here where all you need is an email to register and start posting fraudulent adverts after few weeks.

The issue is made worse when there's a mod who isn't actively monitoring things here and who takes sides with those who have gained popularity but could have monopolistic and malicious tendencies as well.

If this place wants to be cleaned up, seun should make it mandatory for those commenting on or accessing this thread to submit further identity verification documents like their government issued identity cards, phone numbers and proof of address via bank statements.

But this would require significant amount of coding and he wouldn't want to since users won't be paying for the service.

Alternatively, a deadline should be given for those who want to do escrow on this thread to get their business license and undergo verification. After the deadline, the old list can be scrapped and the new one put up, filled with those who pass through the verification which must include proper kyc and document verification by different mods to avoid one corrupting the process.

The verified escrows can charge for their service and they too must pay a certain agreeable and feasible sum to seun to remain listed as an escrow.

Everyone trading would then be advised to go through such escrows to avoid being scammed and a constant reminder should be placed to that effect when a person is commenting like on the Islam thread where you have to accept Allah before you comment... Anything to repeatedly remind users to go through escrow should be done.

Lastly, only verified scams should be posted here and on the scam thread with details of the scammer and clear evidence.

False accusations based on suspicion should be totally banned as it's against rules 2, 3 and 8 and it can be used by any malicious character to unjustly promote or defame others. Think Dangote dirty business tactics to maintain his monopoly.

I feel that if all the stringent measures above are improved and put in place, scamming here will fall by 95% or more.

The truth stands and I take nothing back from everything I have said about you.

There are 4 parties to this issue and they are LiquidMer, Wese90, dominique and HazzanTazzan.

Wese90 is involved because LiquidMer REPEATEDLY defamed me on my thread while promoting Wese90. Defamation is against the rules on nairaland.

Dominique is involved because the moderator overlooked the defamatory remarks made against me, tried to justify the actions of LiquidMer who provided no single evidence of his/her claim and also tried to twist the narrative by claiming it's because I listed BukkySME who is new on nairaland.

HazzanTazzan is involved because he tried to also manipulate the issue by reinforcing the opinion of the mod and also resorting to abusing me.

1. There's evidence that LiquidMer defamed my person and promoted Wese90.

2. There's evidence the moderator defended LiquidMer.

3. There's evidence HazzanTazzan lied when he initially supported the narrative the mod was pushing and started attacking me. Now he's claiming to have been advised by someone he pretended not to know initially. He has also gone back to delete all his insults and false allegations against me in an attempt to hide evidence... Thankfully, copies of them are still available in the ones I quoted and responded to with proof of his fraudulent past.

4. There's evidence that HazzanTazzan has a fraudulent past and even though he has tried to bury it, I have provided evidence in response to his insults and false claims against me both on this thread and my own thread.

I made a suggestion on how to eliminate fraud from this place. Instead of them to point out the merits or demerits of the suggestion or even propose their own, they're here trying to twist the narrative and make false claims to confuse those who do not know what has been happening.

Aside from other members who took sides to equally attack me and got a healthy those of their own medicine, the four mentioned users above are the principal persons in this case.

HazzanTazzan should provide proof that I attempted to bring down ALL ESCROWS AND ALL MODS.

However I think you are now guilty of what you accussed LiquidMer of. Even though it was LiquidMer that riled you up with his spam posts where he mentioned Wese90, you have consistently over the last week accused Wese90 of fraud and identity theft without any evidence. I have done so many transactions here with Wese90 as escrow. Like many others I haven't yet had any cause for alarm with him, in fact I have been impressed by how thorough he is in his dealings.

If you provide concrete evidence that Wese90 has been involved in any illicit activities, I will be the first to join you in calling him out and stop using his services. But you haven't provided any other than the fact that a troll mentioned his name. Wese90 has been mentioned a lot on this thread as a reputable escrow, so it's no surprise that it was picked up by LiquidMer. You have accused others here who have vouched for Wese90 as paid agents, so I won't be surprised if you asked how much I've been paid. On the other hand I have paid Wese for every transaction I have done with him and I am happy with what I paid, as I have not come back here crying that I have been scammed. I'm not a blind supporter of anyone, I'm just sharing my experience. I would do the same for anyone I have transacted with here. I haven't had any dealings dominique and HazzanTazzan, so I can't comment on your issues with them.

You have made some valid points to Seun and the mods with regards to curbing the activities of scammers here. Although your consistent dragging and bashing of Wese90 over the past week without proof now undermines you cogent suggestions, as some people now think you have ulterior motives. I don't think you have any ulterior motives and I recommend that mods they take your some suggestions into consideration, as they will improve transactions here.

There are a lot of things I know that I haven't and don't want to reveal here out of respect to those who have reposed some level of trust on wese90 due to him escrowing their transactions.

I had zero issues with him until I became the subject of attack after asking about his credibility. He also did not help issues with the way he responded, and with the way he's gone on to issue threats at me. I am of the school of thought that leaders should be held accountable at ALL LEVELS. They should also be humble and ready to be scrutinized at all times without throwing their weight around. Such occasions present opportunities for them to sell themselves more to the people.

The negative reaction and push back I got from a seemingly innocent enquiry and the inaction of the mod at the onset made this degenerate into a hot bed of accusations and counter accusations.
