How do petrol stations in residential areas get petrol?
Because you shouldn't put petrol stations in residential areas to begin with.Zoning laws in civilized societies don't allow for that nonsense.

In civilised countries, Petrol laden tankers do not move around during the day and these are tankers that are well maintained talk less of the rickety ill maintained tankers we have in Nigeria.
Did you not see the time this happened?

That can only be done when transporting to a longer distance,do you then build rail track to every petrol station within the city?

What are u saying?
Is it train that will deliver it intrastate?

I don’t understand

Most of these diesel/petro trucks service buildings/companies/telecom sites that are within the state. How else should dey move.

A lot has failed but what you said here isn’t the solution to this specific problem.

We need them to fvcking fix power in this country

OP, it's an LPG tanker, dear NL, you assign incompetent MODs to pilot your affairs, apparently news or reports are quite often not verified before they make FP, it's rather unfortunate.

So SAD the cost of not doing right is more expensive ( How many lives has been lost by this incident - Can we quantify that by getting done rightly? ) than the cos t of doing right from the first instance.

have you ever seen a fire truck connect to one functional hydrant to put out a fire? emergency services getting there in good time is one thing but getting there and getting the job done is another. no doubt comparing Lagos to other states in Nigeria its obviously better but with the so called level of development in Lagos i only expect it to start competing with other economic capitals in west African states by now if it still clings to only being the best state within only its borders sorry to say that is not development or growth.
Wickedtruths:

Lagos actually has fire hydrants installed on public roads. It is about the only state in Nigeria with this. Secondly, emergency services got thee in good time. Lagos is far ahead of other states in that aspect. If you want to criticise, do so objectively.

But what is a petrol tanker doing in a residencial area in the 1st place? You'd never see that in civilized countries where such rules are observed.
There are filling stations along that road....how do u expect dem to refill their underground tanks??

It is not Diesel, the Tanker was carrying GAS.

Na wah. It's time to stop trucks and tanker vessels to transport these products. Let's focus more on rails and pipelines. All these accidents can be avoided
