Adesquare1992:
I feel really bad when I see folks censoring school names;it is very painful. This was not the culture when this thread started in the beginning, back then, the information was just too comprehensive. Thanks to this thread, some of us,prior to joining Nairaland didn't know:
That some higher institutions in the US are Red Flags.

Some schools exempt us from paying application fees(app fee waivers)

Some or if not all schools can process your applications with or without the official documents.

You don't always have to pay any down payment before you can receive your I-20

...

I know applicants who have lost a lot of money to heartless agents and I know some others who didn't fall victim to these agents all thanks to uncensored information on this thread.

While I totally agree that some of us are lazy but how many of us? The numbers are nothing compared to those of us who would take our time to process and sort all the necessary documents before applying to these schools. Even the "goons" of this thread were at a point novice and what you claim to know today was virtue of those uncensored information on this thread.

Let me ask? "What do stand to gain and vice versa if you censor the name of your school? Absolutely nothing and this because aside you,1001 applicants somewhere are already applying to these schools. However,it is your choice to make and we can't force you to do otherwise. But remember, you shouldn't come here asking for help as well because everything you need is on Google.

As for the " lazy ones"(as described by the "goons) pls,you can always take you time by doing extra work when and after you decide to apply to a school. I know some of us can't navigate our way around Google, complete the entire admission process, submit the required documents etc., don't be shy,ask questions here. We are here to help ourselves and their is no shame about it.

If you are one of those that like to censor information from others pls and pls don't come to "me" asking for help because I won't help. I don't know it all but the little I know is meant for those who key into the philosophy that "we rise by helping others even the " lazy ones".

Assuming say some "goons" for here be Jesus that year when in come preach salvation, wetin we call Christians today for no just day.

Just leave that cloned guy alone as he declined to tell us which school he Dey in USA grin. He dare not to even respond at all as he is not in school but busy calling himself a scholar. We know he’s an agent who obtain info from those consulting him grin. He is another Buhari that refused to tell us about his academic credentials grin

This is commendable bro, try to do something like this and not telling people to hide their schools again.

I have been following your banter with @Fairheart; I believe it could have been better that what it degenerated to. But, then, we are all humans and we might go emotional if we feel an argument is attacking our positions.

To be honest, both positions are laudable and have correct intentions. @Fairheart's position is to ensure that people stretch themselves in their pursuit of knowledge. This is highly recommended.

You believe that we should not make life easy for people and help them to make quick decisions on the choice of schools to apply to. That is true too.

Please let peace reign, sirs.

Thank you.

Hi Guys,
Been very silent on the thread
So here is my transcript.

Visa approved in Lagos
School: UNC Chapel Hill- Kenan Flagler Business School
Program: MBA
COA: $93k
Business School Fellowship: $70k
Custom Graduate Loan: $23k

I had some worries before the interview:
1. I have once been denied a student visa to Canada and a visiting visa to USA
2. My wife is currently on OPT
3. I took a graduate loan

Interview at 8:30am;

V.O: Good morning sir
Me: Good morning to you.

V.O: kindly pass me your I-20 and passport
Me: I passed same as requested.

V.O: What school are you going to and what course:
Me: I am going to the University of North Carolina, at Chapel hill for my masters in business administration

V.O: How does this fit into your career plans.
Me: I currently have a wealth of experience in the Nigerian banking industry but my career goal in the senior management position is to focus on investment banking, Therefore the MBA program would develop my investment banking skills so I can provide superior investment advise to businesses in my home country who are involved in the development of capital projects. Such projects includes; The Eko Atlantic City, Lagos Light Rail and Lekki Free trade zone

V.O: After your MBA, would you be staying with your current company or you plan to move to another firm.
Me: I definitely would be returning to my current place of work as I would be taking up a senior management position. My company is currently evolving into a holding structure wherein the investment arm is being set up, hence I will be better positioned with the knowledge gained through the MBA for the investment role

V.O: What is your wife doing in the US
Me: My wife just got her MBA degree last month from *** and commenced her OPT program which ends in June 2022. After the OPT, She intends to return to Nigeria and take up a middle management role at **** bank which she already interviewed for. She had agreed with her new employer to resume in July 2022 just after her OPT program

And then the magical word, I have approved your Visa, blah blah blah. Honestly! I zoned out.

Special thanks to God almighty. And many thanks to my wife. @pefuele and @doyinsolar you guys rock.

P.S Though I know a lot of people are censoring their school details, but I have tried to be as detailed as possible so it could be of help to MBA aspirants. Especially those in doubt of the acceptability of graduate loan at the embassy. I also learnt so much from this forum.

Hearty Congratulations

Actually, there's misunderstanding around showing school and hiding school from approved visa transcript. Some of you who have been on this thread since 2019 would remember a time we discussed about Red Flag schools. I was one of those who said there's nothing as such as you can get your visa with any accredited school in the United States, provided you are issued an I-20. Indeed, Nigerians forget very fast, but I remember how often I encourage people to share information, to ask questions, to support each other. We forget very fast, really!

On not showing your school, it was opinion, not a rule or law biding anyone to follow it. The same people who suddenly turned against Fairheart were here seeing him responding to questions from strangers. People call things they don't understand many things, and that is okay.

Remember I have been contributing to this thread for years, and I did not, at any point in the past, asked anyone to hide their school. I HAVE NEVER! I only advised such when the issue of Western Illinois came up and far more people are refused than approved. I get a lot of messages from silent readers, asking what did I think went wrong that led to their f-1 refusal. I was merely concerned about the number of people that will still be refused due to large number of people with the school I-20s. Then I asked, what happened to other schools? Schools you'd have applied to, get admission, with strong academic profile, scholarship and even assistantship? Why ignore those simply because someone here posted that they get their visa with a particular school?

If those antagonizing me truly cares, you'd see it is indirect encouragement to spread out and apply to more schools for better opportunity instead of focusing on a school that someone got his/her visa with. But even if they apply there, it doesn't affect me. If everyone on Nairaland wish to apply to a single school, it doesn't affect me. I was only advising potential students to avoid unnecessary refusals due to the fact that they didn't do what they should have done. I have posted schools here in the past; I have shared links, etc.

My advise, actually, is like saying: Hey, if you want to harvest, please cultivate and plant your seed. That is it and nothing more. If I knew people would only see it in a negative light, I'd not even care. After all, i no give anybody money for visa and sevis fee.

Nobody is stifling information from those who need it. If you all want to go New Haven, or Lincoln or WUI, and co, while other good schools that would fund you are ignore, please go there. When you get your visa, please put your transcript as you desire. Share your school, share your profile and all. It is an open world.

I understand that human being will never do fair judgement to those who deserve it. I am not against sharing information o.
Please let peace reign here so that those who need real-time information can access and use it.
Peace!

(2) Do I need to state my job as a CEO during my interview ? OR i should state I work for a company? Please what is the best option?

(3) what conversion rate should I use for proof of funds?

Hi everyone here,

I recently secured admission to one of the universities in US, I scheduled my interview to hold 14 June 2021. On the first day of June, they rescheduled my interview to 18 June 2021. I was already in the hotel yesterday when their message came in. The interview has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 23 June without saying sorry for the inconveniences in their email sent to me.

I don't know if any one is in my shoe too?

Secondly, to the glory of God, I received a full funding for my program even with surplus. Meanwhile, while ,filling my DS160, in a question "person/entity paying for trip", I picked "SELF". Please house, can I still go ahead to change this answer to "employer in US"? since my interview has been rescheduled to 23/06/21.

Thank you all

I picked the date with the intention of requesting an emergency appointment, since school resumes on August 9. Did I do the right thing pls, and if I didn't, how do you suggest I remedy the situation? Thank you.

Good morning fam
What a time to be alive
Thank God for the testimonies...I pray those that've been delayed will testify sooner than later.

Q1.
Please, my friend who's going for a B.Sc program has booked for an interview in Abuja. At the time she booked the earliest date was 12th October, 2021

According to her, she has requested for an emergency interview twice and was denied. She has paid for her SEVIS FEE and visa Fee too (not sure if she uploaded the receipts).
Her school was kind enough to send her a letter which she uploaded too

What could be the problem please?
Her school's start date is August 15.

What can she do please?

Q2
I know someone who equally booked 12th October, 2021 in Abuja (start date is August 11)
What are her options please?

Is it possible to reschedule and/or request for an emergency interview?
PS. Both fees have been paid

Thank you.
Hope to testify soonest

Please, I'm patiently waiting for answers. Thank you so much

Yes you did. Since your start date is august 9th, you are within the 60days window. You should go ahead requesting for emergency appointment. Upload your I-20 and sevis fee receipt.

Thanks, man.

I finally got from a relative.

And yes, what do the school look at? Is it the total transaction done over 6 months or the current balance. The account statement I got has about #53m transaction over the last 6 months but the current balance is #26,000.

Many thanks.

I think it's really important for the closing balance to reflect the COA or deficit.
That shows there's money on ground

I'm so sorry about your experience. The money tracking number you have is the only thing I see you can present as an evidence. But whether it will be accepted at the embassy is what I do not know. It's best to ask someone in the US to make the payment for you.

Thank God for you I just wish I am in your shoes, if they can reschedule my appointment I will be happy am having issues with my SEVIS confirmation I sent it through money order since Monday but yet to be delivered and my interview is on Monday 9 00 I don't know what to do again I have tried rescheduling but am seeing 2024 my question is can I go with the money order tracking number for the interview or what other evidence can I use ?
