Thank God for you I just wish I am in your shoes, if they can reschedule my appointment I will be happy am having issues with my SEVIS confirmation I sent it through money order since Monday but yet to be delivered and my interview is on Monday 9 00 I don't know what to do again I have tried rescheduling but am seeing 2024 my question is can I go with the money order tracking number for the interview or what other evidence can I use ?

I learnt money order takes a while before you receive a confirmation. When did you post?
How're you going about the rescheduling please?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by pebes: 9:06pm On Jun 18, 2021
Did you transfer even before the start of the 1st semester or you had to finish the first semester before you could transfer?
winson4real:
I can only answer one of your question, which is the part where you ask if you could switch your school. Please do not switch it while you’re in Naija just to play safe but you can definitely do it when you’re in the US. I personally did that, and I know so many people that have done that. Always go to the interview with the I-20 you’re most comfortable with, and once you get to the US, you can email the school on your visas and tell them to transfer your sevis record to the other school. All they normally request for is proof of admission in the other school. For every other person thinking about this option, it can also be done across degree. That is, you can transfer your sevis record from a masters degree to even an associate degree. As long as you give them the admission letter and fill a transfer form, they have no option but to transfer you to the other school.

Please my visa was denied at the embassy on the 10th of June. I have been trying to book new appointment but the dates i can see is in November. Can i pick the date and request for emergency appointment? Will it be approved? Do they approve expedite appointment for anyone that has been denied before?

Can you confirm what your university put as who is taking care of your deficit in your I20 under student funding? I am certian the VO is looking at that section once you mention you have full scholarship from your company.

My wife will support me when necessary, can I tell the VO the family is myself and my wife.

And is okay to use my company SOA or Personal SOA.

Please urgent advice is required.

Thank you and God bless

Sharing info about your school shouldn't be a problem in fact that's always been the norm when I first visited the US travel thread far back in 2010. First,if I decide to make inquiry about the school on your transcript you should know that what follows after is strictly on me. From writing my SOP,sending recommendation letters, sending and responding to GC's mails etc would be on me.

I might be looking for a school with an affordable deficit, a reasonable GA,Tuition waiver, similar research interest etc,. Surprising, I stumbled on a transcript on the thread that has one or two of the above, checking out this school doesn't make me lazy,it makes the process much more easier for me.

On the other hand,if you decide to hide the name of your school on your transcript simply because some Nairalanders are too lazy to search for schools themselves, you have no business coming here for help because everything you need is also on Google.

And lastly,if someone feels threatened and proceed to drag me I will not hesitate to do the same.

Bro, someone actually said, can't quote the individual verbatim, there is nothing wrong hiding your school and sharing only with a select few. By doing that you are giving others opportunity to find out stuff for themselves.

Buhahahhaa. That, my good fellow, is one of the most oversalted crap I have ever heard in my life. And to think someone actually believes this.

I mean, really? I can't even begin to try to unravel this rationale. This is just wrong!

You have the right to reveal or not. No qualms. What a lot of us are saying is see the other side of the narrative.

But to think you think hiding your school is helping others to be more hardworking. Lol, that's some raggedy ass superiority complex there. Ya not guru maraji na. Lol!

Hi everyone, I just made my visa application payment today, and the earliest date I could see is January 4, 2024. I picked the date with the intention of requesting an emergency appointment, since school resumes on August 9. Did I do the right thing pls, and if I didn't, how do you suggest I remedy the situation? Thank you.

You can request for an emergency appointment since you’re already within 60days to your program start date.

Let us know if your emergency appointment is approved after submission.

Hi Guys,
Been very silent on the thread
So here is my transcript.

Visa approved in Lagos
School: UNC Chapel Hill- Kenan Flagler Business School
Program: MBA
COA: $93k
Business School Fellowship: $70k
Custom Graduate Loan: $23k

I had some worries before the interview:
1. I have once been denied a student visa to Canada and a visiting visa to USA
2. My wife is currently on OPT
3. I took a graduate loan

Interview at 8:30am;

V.O: Good morning sir
Me: Good morning to you.

V.O: kindly pass me your I-20 and passport
Me: I passed same as requested.

V.O: What school are you going to and what course:
Me: I am going to the University of North Carolina, at Chapel hill for my masters in business administration

V.O: How does this fit into your career plans.
Me: I currently have a wealth of experience in the Nigerian banking industry but my career goal in the senior management position is to focus on investment banking, Therefore the MBA program would develop my investment banking skills so I can provide superior investment advise to businesses in my home country who are involved in the development of capital projects. Such projects includes; The Eko Atlantic City, Lagos Light Rail and Lekki Free trade zone

V.O: After your MBA, would you be staying with your current company or you plan to move to another firm.
Me: I definitely would be returning to my current place of work as I would be taking up a senior management position. My company is currently evolving into a holding structure wherein the investment arm is being set up, hence I will be better positioned with the knowledge gained through the MBA for the investment role

V.O: What is your wife doing in the US
Me: My wife just got her MBA degree last month from *** and commenced her OPT program which ends in June 2022. After the OPT, She intends to return to Nigeria and take up a middle management role at **** bank which she already interviewed for. She had agreed with her new employer to resume in July 2022 just after her OPT program

And then the magical word, I have approved your Visa, blah blah blah. Honestly! I zoned out.

Special thanks to God almighty. And many thanks to my wife. @pefuele and @doyinsolar you guys rock.

P.S Though I know a lot of people are censoring their school details, but I have tried to be as detailed as possible so it could be of help to MBA aspirants. Especially those in doubt of the acceptability of graduate loan at the embassy. I also learnt so much from this forum.
Congrats sir.

Okay good @lessie. Your transcript looks good but you need to include the interest of the company as well with your answer to the question "why MBA"?. What does your company stand to benefit by investing so much funds in you getting an MBA is very important as well to the answer you give to this question. You mentioned it somewhere later in the transcript but the VO may not get to that question where you talked about it before making his or her decision. Try to add that to your answer to "why MBA"?.

In addition. Since you are switching from Biochemistry to MBA, you left out an important question. Where do you work and what do you do? The answer you give here is also very important. It should be convincing enough. I am sure you factored that already since you have already stated it in your DS 160

Good luck!

Chief, going for Bsc at 32 is going to be an uphill task convincing the VO. It's not impossible but you have a lot of homework to do in convincing the consular officer. When you're going next, make sure you have cogent and very convincing reasons to back up your application.

Good morning People,

For those who their U.S contacts are having issues making the SEVIS fee payment via Western Union, tell your U.S contact to try mailing the money and a Print Out of the SEVIS fee coupon via Money Order as an alternative.

Mine was paid through the Money Order and I got the confirmation email 3 days after.

Now I have an issue that I hope the experience friends here could help me with. I made a request for emergency appointment as my start date falls within 60days (17th Aug). The request was approved and I went ahead to reschedule on the CGI portal. the earliest day I now saw is 6th August (Abuja). So I don't know whether to pick the 6th Aug or check again to see if another earlier date will be available?

what do you guys think?
