The following are the final excerpts/minutes from a Chief Obafemi Awolowo interview after the Nigerian Civil War. I will post the video link once I come across it. ABANDONED PROPERTY (in Lagos & South West) "...And then finally, I saw to it that the houses owned by the Ibos in Lagos and on this side, were kept for them. I had an estate agent friend who told me that one of them collected half a million pounds rent which has been kept for him. All his rent were collected, but since we didn’t seize their houses, he came back and collected half a million pounds. So that is the position. I’m a friend of the Ibos and the mass of the Ibos are my friends, but there are certain elements who want to continue to deceive the Ibos by telling lies against me, and one day, they’ll discover and then that day will be terrible for those who have been telling the lies." END My Addition: Otunba Subomi Balogun, the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), speaking on how he got his banking licence said he got them through Alex Ekueme, the then vice president of Nigeria. The favour he did Ekueme was that during the civil war, he came to his house at Apapa, Lagos only to see that his neighbour's house is now occupied by hoodlums since the Igbo neighbour had travelled (to the East possibly). He then chased away the hoodlums, renovated the house to put it back in decent order, then rented it out. The civil war ended (probably 2 years later) and this Igbo neighbour came back only to see his house occupied. Otunba Subomi Balogun then handed over the collected rents to this neighbour and that was the beginning of their relationship. That neighbour is Alex Ekueme who later went to become the Vice President of Nigeria during Shehu Shagari's tenure. I'm still looking for the abandoned property of the Igbos in the South West (Yorubaland) that the true owners never got back. what is the name of that so called friend who kept the igbo mans half a million? what was the property? in short give us the name of that igbo man let us cross check our records. for an igbo man to be a landlord collecting over N150k pounds as far back as 1960 his family should be well known today. igbos hate lies, we love truth, thag is why we need proofs. lots of lies have been told concerning our history and that should stop. if a puppy dog has once been stung by a bee, it will flee from the mere sight of a ladybug for the rest of its life 5 Likes |

Of what use is a house to a man who survived a pogrom in Nigeria, ran to his hometown, ambushed by invading soldiers and thereafter blockaded from accessing food and medicines for himself and family ,straffed and bombed for 3 years and thereafter succumbed to the untold hardships The truth is that the evil done to the igboman in Nigeria cannot be atoned for in a millenium.. for how can u chase around, hack and burn innocent women and children in a country they call their own for no just reason order than their belonging to Igbo race . And after that have the mind to rain bombs and mortars on the survivors who managed to cross over to their region. That is the height of wickedness. What's all these useless revisionisms for? The Forgiving and Christian nature of the Igbos is what is giving Nigeria the semblance of a country.. God bless the Igbo race God bless the efiks, ibibios, annangs and the entire old Eastern region! 7 Likes |

Truth igbos have differences with yorubas since the beginning ...I feel it's just lack of trust n understanding each other really I boldly say ..south south would kill igbos before yorubas and that's a fact Awolowo n his socialist actions worn some followers among young igbos this even lead to the civil war ..first coup n all that Ojukwu invading ore was out of pity for yorubas which was stupid ...achieve your biafra first then come for yorubas later really Igbos n yorubas are good neighbors but differ politically they are what we call far left n far right that's what it is nothing more 2 Likes |

Nonsense, this is the one that you know. How old are you? What of the properties of those that died as a result of the war? What of those that came back only to meet an empty land probably demolished because someone claimed it was in his or her ancestral land? Please, leave matter 2 Likes |

The abandoned property in Port Harcourt was a calculated gimmick used to create everlasting enmity between the lazy fools and Ndigbo. There is a reason while some Ikwerre in Igweocha claimed not to be Igbo. The same to goes to certain Ijaw and Ogoni peeps who connected to the abandon property saga. How about Ken Saro Wiwa. People should equally not loose sight that Yoruba were staunchly behind the issue of abandon property in Igweocha. 3 Likes |

theFilmtric:your reasoning is dangerously below average . So because a few soldiers from Midwest, west, east and even north came together and exuberantly killed some leaders they accused of corruption including a very senior military man of Igbo extraction col Arthur unaegbe, all Igbo peasants, middlemen, elites etc must be hounded and killed. How many hausas/kanuris/Fulanis have u killed on account of the atrocities of Boko Haram,Fulani terrorists and bandits etc that have for no reasonable reasons killed well over 100,000 Nigerians including very big men of Igbo extraction in the past few years U see how a menace your type is to a society? 4 Likes |

theFilmtric:Honestly, engaging your type can be very enervating. Where does one begin to engage a bigot whom hate has burrowed the brains, leaving a hollow empty but residual vestiges of hate matter. In your jaundiced thinking the Igbo should be annihilated because u think some soldiers of Igbo extraction did a coup and killed 'other leaders'.. so how many berom, tiv did u kill when the langtang mafia led by dimka struck, killing 'others'.. how many benue indigenes did u kill when orkar struck and killed others,..how many have u killed since Fulani militia has been burying whole towns and villages.. mightyhaze: As usual playing the victim What about those who were massacred by your young misguided soldiers in other to make Ibos dominate other NIGERIANS . We too are pained ,even more than the Ibos that your leaders sent their young men in the military to slaughter leaders of other tribes mercilessly while allowing ibo leaders to escape , WHY IS IT THAT NO SINGLE POLITICAL LEADER FROM THE EAST WAS AFFECTED BY THE 1966 COUP? No iboman has been able to answer this meaning the ibo elites sanctioned the coup. 1 Like |

Ojiofor: And that strategy failed because Ojukwu, for some reason, decided to put a yoruba man (Brig Banjo) in charge of that advancing force. And Banjo was just talking gibberish when he was asked why he didn’t take Lagos. So you see, from awolowo to banjo, you just can’t trust a yoruba man when it comes to handling these northerners. 3 Likes |

Difrent: Listen, Major Nzeogwu was as much an igbo man as he was a civilian. Born, raised and died in Kaduna; he spoke hausa fluently and not one drop of igbo. I don’t think there was even any record holiday-ing in the east (needs citation). Granted that other soldiers of igbo origins participated in the coup. We should also be quick to remember that not 3 months after the coup in January, Aguiyi Ironsi (an igbo man) crushed and took back power from the mutineers. Sadly, it was in his ill thought plan that touring the federation to assure each region of peace and inclusiveness that he was killed by mustapha, in essence, putting Gowon in power. But track back to the period before ‘66. Igbos has always been hated and persecuted. Killed and displaced. If you’re talking about punishment for a small band of coup plotters, then you must also talk about punishment for individuals (aided by the then federal govt) in the northern region that had massacred igbos in the times before ‘66. 3 Likes |

Plomo: Ojukwu's reason for choosing Major Banjo was strategic even though it backfired. Ojukwu thought by appointing Banjo a Yoruba man as the commander of the advancing forces the Yoruba nation will not resist him but support them, he was wrong. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Plomo: So stop making it look like it's a gang up built on nothing . Other NIGERIANS are rightly afraid of Ibos domination reason why they still view that coup in that sense . But you didn't answer this WHY IS NO SINGLE IBO POLITICAL LEADER KILLED IN 1966.....if you were not Ibo, you will think the same way other NIGERIANS are thinking . An advice : Ibos need to stop trying deal with other NIGERIANS with strong arm tactics of intimidations, blackmail, Revisionism and threats of seccession, we other tribes are wiser and more than you 1 Like 1 Share |
