My proposition was not admission to cowardice, neither willfully forcing, participating nor hoping for one's love to be requited whereas the other party has declared disinterest. It is more on the method of how one should navigate this rough terrain of human relationships that is mered with catastrophy. So one should, of course, love those who love them (in a romantic definition of love), but do it courageously, not because the other person is not going to hurt you, but because you are tougher and have the inner strength beyond your comprehension to not only withstand, but also thrive despite it.

Also, it's my view that the severity of being bamboozled by our beloved is minimal when we recognized their imperfection and tendency for cruelty. I mean, you are full of snakes, me too, but the best we could do is to extend our hands for the greater good, and that we should both courageously trust each other to uphold our own duty, to make this thing, a greater good, work for us. That's basically the doctrines that underpin civilization and more specifically, trust.
