It's no news that the anti-Igbo sentiment in Nigeria is one of the concepts that unite the country.

As a person living in Nigeria, you have to always study your environment and adapt accordingly, or you move out. You're not expected to excel beyond a certain level and remain in the community unless you're a member of the royal family of that community.

However, the Igbos have defied these unwritten rules everywhere they've settled - North, west, south, even overseas.

There’s been a lot of outrage against the Igbos buying up properties in the southwestern part of the country. The people selling their properties fear that one day the Igbos would take over their ancestral lands. One question that bothers me is - are these people afraid of development or they are just afraid of the source of development?

Why does the poverty capital of the world worry more about the source of development instead of the lack of development?

Recently, an Islamic scholar expressed his discomfort with the way Igbos are allowed to flourish in Kano to the point of setting up mini-communities and locking out the Islamic indigenes living in the area.

Here's the report as seen elsewhere:

“Islamist scholar, Dr. Abdallah Gadon Kaya
Angry Over Igbos Living Exclusively in Highbrow Area in Kano with their massive gates, security and facilities that prevent others to penetrate the area, we can’t go to Onitsha or Aba and create such exclusive place for Muslims like that.”

The Islamic Scholar went ahead to call on the government to demolish those houses and erect a huge mosque for the indigenous Muslims living in the area.

UN estimated the number of people killed by Boko Haram at around 350,000 people, while same UN described the East as the most peaceful place in Nigeria before your terrorist brothers from Sahal tasted our resolute.

This country eh... The disunity here is too much. And to think that this statement is coming from a cleric makes me wonder the type of people we have in Nigeria.

A man buys a land... (not that he got the land free or as a gift from the govt) He builds a choice of house on the land with his own money. Because of the insecurity we have in this country, the man erects a gate and place security guards to protect. How does that turn to oppression of the locals.
