Frankrobbn1:

A postdoc (or "post-doc," "postdoctoral," or "postdoctoral research) fellowship is a training-focused position available to people who have earned a doctorate. Postdoc positions usually act as a stepping-stone between the student experience and the full-time professional experience. Most positions are two to three years and some can be extended. In a nutshell "it is a training and the fellow will be paid during the entire duration of the program"

It will end in praise
Gracias Frankrobbn1 for the detailed information on Post Doc.

I did a research on

How do I become a post-doctoral fellow if I am from outside of Canada? (courtesy Uvic at British Columbia)

If you are not a Canadian or a permanent resident of Canada, you will need to apply for a work permit and/or visa to enable you to come to Canada for your post-doctoral fellowship. Obtaining these is your responsibility, and the process can take up to several months or more, depending on where you are from.

I heard getting a Work Permit from Nigeria can be something else, most especially the processing time.

What do you advice a Fresh PHD. holder from Nigeria to go for, "Post Doc or another PHD."

If its a Post Doc, is there a quite seamless way he can go about it (work permit)

If it's another PHD, Is there a way he can convince a Visa Officer why he is going for another PH.D.

Thanks

Good morning @blackedwin…… if you have both, you can please bring them along as you would need cash for immediate needs and the compulsory quarantine unforeseen circumstances.

Hi @horlarJP…. Most schools (not all) require application fees to accompany your application.

I am applying for the Canada study visa but this time outside of Nigeria , do I need to pay for the biometrics again or just the application fee and visa fee.

If you had made payments previously and is reapplying, you make payment for only application fee which is same as visa application fee

Some colleges might accept such discrepancies in your grade and Date of birth. However, the Canadian immigration authorities may flag your application for misrepresentation thus unavoidably leading to a Five (5) year ban. I will advice you make contact with the exams and records of your school to know how these mistakes on your degree certificate and transcripts can be corrected before you apply for your visa.

Thank you, il do just that

How incompetent Nigeria system is. It's annoying and terrifying.

I think this has to be rectified first.

I had similar issues when I was chasing admission in Germany, CA and Netherlands. It wasn't honoured.

Only UK universities gave me admission.

Please escalate this to your school. And I feel if you even get admission with this in Canada, at visa application there might be some issues.

Ok thanks

Please does requesting for GCMS influence your application or if the application is abandoned does the GCMS NOTE request make them to look into it again?

It might be a red flag because advanced diploma is even lower than a BSc not to talk of your MSc.
But you can explain your reason for choosing in to the visa officer in your SOP/LOE.

In my opinion, it doesn't show career/education progression. I suggest going for another MSc at least.

All the best!

What did you do differently? Your application was not even up to 3 months....

Congrats.

Please, I sent u a mail.
Lol, I remember asking someone this question some time ago, you should see her own timeline....lightening speed.

Well, I did nothing differently other than using the NSE route, it was just Grace. A lot of people are getting decisions faster these days, yours may not be any different.

This is not about career progression. Animation is an important branch in Architecture, i have always loved it and want to focus on it squarely. No plans to progress in my studies in architecture. 13 years in architecture has been fun. My focus now is animation. I would have learnt it in Nigeria before leaving but most of it here is crap. And i learnt that diploma is more of practical, that's all i need in my life now. Less reading more doing.

Career progession is the main thing here. How do you explain to a VO that you are going for diploma after a masters degree. Please go for a second masters degree or PHD.
