Yorubas are the richest tribe in Nigeria. They don't even make noise about it.You can find them in all the major multi national companies in Nigeria. Igbos claim they are the richest yet they are not among the top ten richest in Nigeria.Ndi chest beaters. By the way I'm not yoruba. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

All these are stales by moonlight. The land is impoverished because of bad and corrupt leaders from federal to state and local. The land is in poverty because nepotic and tribal leaders. Nigeria is a Blessed country filled with wicked , corrupt, nepotic and expert embezzlers. Until there is justice , forget about this timetable you put out. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Op, what do you intend to gain with all these type of posts? I have observed that you are fond of opening this type of threads to stoke emotions with this superiority argument. You don't need it. Those that control Nigeria's economy across different tribes don't know you exist. Go and hustle and make your own money instead of promoting ethnic division. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

This list should tell secessionist where they stand in termed of food security in the event of unrest. Can the average Yoruba or Igbo or Ijaw man say he is a net importer or net exporter of food? Same for other key areas like, transport, communication, power, education, and health 1 Like |

Good list. But it ignores population and also the list does not really translate to a tribe's wealth. I can definitely tell you that farmers are not the richest in Nigeria despite contributing most to national GDP. This is because there are huge population of farmers sharing the space. Also, if we consider crude oil which contributes 14 percent, that doesn't translate to wealth for the "tribes". Of course, their state governments gets higher allocation but that is not equal to tribal wealth as shown by the unemployment and poverty statistics of those oil-rich tribes. The promising sectors that can be used as a rough estimate of tribal wealth are the TRADE, ICT, MANUFACTURING, REAL ESTATE, CONSTRUCTION, FINANCE, and PUBLIC ADMIN @OP, do you have data about the "tribes" or states who definitely dominate these sectors? 1 Like |

post=103221118: Lol, only a mugu will question the place of Igbos in Nigeria in terms of economic prosperity. Trade is by almost exclusively dominated by Igbos and its sectorial contribution is 17%, which is second only to crop production! Crop production is not dominated by any single group because it's done by all ethnicities in the North with significant contribution from South. Again transportation is also dominated by Igbos and Hausas. 2 Likes |

Brexxit: You're confused but you don't have to infect others with your ignorance. Having one or two moneybags who got rich through corrupt government patronage doesn't mean yorubas are the richest because they may be just 0.00001 of the total population. Igbos unarguably have the highest concentration of rich people. Is it Igbos that you will not find in all major multinational companies in Nigeria? Even if yorubas outnumber then the margin is certainly neglible. Igbos control a crucial sector in Nigeria i.e. trade and commerce in a country of 200 million people. From representing Asian brands in Nigeria many of us started building their own mabufacturing companies. Call it whatever you want, but Igbos are obviously playing a pivotal role in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

post=103221289: Why must you lie to massage your own ego? You should go and find a better job to occupy your time. Every tribe in Nigeria is involved in all manner of trading and exchange of goods, from North to South. Outside of igboland, igbos don't have a monopoly on most trading sector commerce activities. There are Fast-Moving-Consumer-Goods (FMCG) trading sectors in most states across the country that are in the control/hands of the natives in most states. Agro-allied produce trading is also there. Too many to begin to mention. Asides spare parts and electronics, igbos aren't the dominant players in any other trading segment outside igboland. Outside of Lagos, Yorubas dominate every major trading segment in the SW, including spare parts and electronics. The spare parts market that recently caught fire at Ibadan was dominated by yoruba traders. Ditto transportation sector. Igbos don't dominate the transport sector in the SW for instance. Their presence is only felt in that sector when it pertains to transporting their people from igboland to other parts of Nigeria. E.g, If a Yoruba man wants to go from Lagos to Ibadan or other SW states, 9 out of 10 times the vehicle that would transport him would belong to a Yoruba man. Same thing applies to intercity commute in all SW states. In the real estate sector, Yorubas are the overwhelming and dominant investors in Lagos and the wider SW region, I don't know about other regions but I can confidently speak for the SW. This isn't even difficult to ascertain. There are YouTube and other online references to this fact. So Mr. Man, sofly beat that hairy chest. 10 Likes |

OritoJasi: You're the one who is lieing. So according to you it's only spare parts and electronics that Igbos dominate? For real? Then who controls pharmaceutical products sales in Nigeria? Who controls sales and distribution of consumer goods in Nigeria bearing in mind that all the major markets in Nigeria are almost exclusively dominated by Igbos. You name them Alaba, Onitsha, Idumota, Ariaria, ASPAMDA etc? Why did CBN use Lagos, Anambra, Abia and FCT as pilot schemes for banking/money flow? I have been to the North and indeed many parts of Nigeria, which ethnic group are most likely to own the major supermarket, store or chemist shop in any rural, semi Urban or city in Nigeria? Which companies are the major transporters? Are they not ABC, Chisco, Young Shall Grow, Peace etc who owns them? When it comes to haulage I give it to Hausas, they dominate that sector. You claim yorubas traveling to other SW states use their own companies, then how many are they compared to the entire country? Na wa for you o. 2 Likes |

post=103222767: What goods do Igbos control wholesale and retail of? Like seriously? Outside importation of spare parts and electronics, what do igbos produce exclusively, that isn't produced elsewhere in Nigeria, and that is in so much demand they control its chain of distribution? Is it food, garri, clothing/apparels, plastics? Fast-moving-consumer-goods (FMCG) are dominated by multinationals who have footprints in major Nigerian cities and big towns, with major distributors also spread across the country. Yorubas don't consume yellow 'garri ibo'. Our Amala, gbegiri, and ewedu, fish, beef, aren't sourced from igbos. Also, majority of our people in the SW prefer wearing native attires than jeans and shirts that omo ibo deals in. We have our own capable fashion designers, shoemakers and other e entrepreneurs. Our tailors sef yakpa. Aso ebi, Aso Oke and other clothing materials aren't sourced from igbos. We don't depend on igbo plumbers, electricians, furniture-makers, mechanics, or other artisans. We are practically self-sustaining. So please what are these wholesale retail goods that are so critical that igbos dominate in our region? Nothing igbos contribute to any sector that can't be substituted. Absolutely nothing. Agriculture still contributes the most to the GDP. So go and sit down someplace with your false hype. 3 Likes |

North took larger share of Nigeria's tycoons. If some people really know the lucrative money people make in agriculture; crop production, and Transport they would have dumped trading for it. Most of the thousands trailers moving on our roads transport farm products, and livestocks. JOS produces most eggs consume in Nigeria, Baga produce most domestic fish in Nigeria while all lands in the North are either farm, grazing land or residential areas. Right now in some places a bag of beans is about N70k and one will spend less than 20k to produce 15 bags! I agree that manufacturing is good but the cost involved give little profits to the owner compared to those afformentioned which need little input. If not because North's poor population control, Northerners would prosper better than any other region. |

post=103224144:Middlebelt? Do u really know North or u just dwell on all those propaganda? Tell me the averagely consume foods in Nigeria and where they're produced then I'll believe u. Beans, rice, grains, are all produced in most core Northern states. If u're talking about North there is no distinction of places like so called middlebelt or open zonal division, North is North and defining Northern state by a single tribe talkless of zones or region is extremely difficult. States of Nigeria which are generally referred to as belonging to the Middle Belt are: old Plateau (now Plateau and Nasarawa), old Gongola (now Adamawa and Taraba), Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, alongside Southern Kaduna, Southern Bauchi, Southern Kebbi, Southern Gombe, Southern Yobe State. Those states cut across all the 3 zones of the entire North. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Belt 1 Like |

Coronabirus:Thats my point you group all northern states not by six geopolitical zones, just like grouping all southern region including SS, SW and SE, two eastern states are among major producers of rice in Nigeria, Southeast top in palm plantation, they are doing Yam, sweet potatoes, cassava, corn etc 2 Likes |
