You dunno anything. History has it that Afonja was reprimanded by the Oyo empire hence why he went out of his ways to seek for Fulani charms because he had probably thought he was doomed after Oyo empire reprimanded him. Alimi was the said Fulani man he brought in. After a while, Alimi started bringing in more of his Useless Fulani men who went around preaching Uselesss religious stuffs to the Yoruba people of Ilorin. These men also became unlawful and wouldn't obey Afonja. When Afonja thought he's had enough of their trouble and had wanted to send them packing, the deceitful Fulani met with the brainwashed Yoruba and overthrown Afonja under the guise that he wasn't holy bla bla bla and appointed a Fulani man. That was what happened! Why did you think Afonja cursed the people of Ilorin?

It's way complex than it seems. First of, some Yorubas have been made subservient yo the caliphate. The Fulanis always use Islam as a tool of conquest but Yoruba Muslims like Ishaq Akintola of MURIC are comfortable with that. It will definitely backfire as it did with Solagberu whom invited Alimi to Ilorin on the sanction of Afonja. All were slain and consumed in the end.
