The so called foreign based players have not done anything meaningful since Rohr was employed. I don't see the difference between them and the home based players under Rohr
Fear God. The quality of our league is poor. Rohr told everyone

Interesting comments, is the local league top scorer present in the game?
Coaches will always show favoritism in selecting players. You should know Naija by now na.

Eguavoen told the league coaches to select the best players from the league without doing his homework.

He wasn't the one that selected the players. He was not even supposed to be there Aigbogun was the coach
Rohr told Eguavoen to select homebased players. Eguavoen told the priemer league coaches to select the best players from their respective clubs.

The problem is the both Rohr and Eguavoen should have done their homework already, instead of leaving it for the club coaches who would only select their own favorite players.

Is it his job to be telling everyone how poor d league is or to look for d best and work with what he has?

When he was complaining that our foreign players weren't good enough for him to work with in 2018, was it because d leagues they were playing weren't good enough?

Please cut these boys some slack, they are playing together for the first time, no warm up match nothing, they were just thrown in to the game like that, even Mexico had a match with Panama before this one. Most of the blame should go to the NFF, why can't there be regular matches with African teams using the home based, it is only when there is a competition that the boys are brought together. When these guys play regularly with each other they will become a better team

Is like some pple really don't know how this football works....talent and crude skill is good but there's requirement for experience and understanding in football ...u can have skillful players in ur local league but they wont beat a team of experienced and world class player...someone will refer to Olympics where kanu and likes did it ...but that was some 20 something years ago....and dose guyz were already playing together and had a chemistry....u can't just bring players together locally and believe u will beat world class teams with them...no football study has gone above that....we want a good result but we don't want to sacrifice ..if that's the way we want to go then lets pick this guyz ...get a quality coach...(not that low standard German)....then let them train together and form a strong team that can stand anyone ...this players will be trained and will need to understand a lot ...nt just depend on skills ...Brazil has been producing skillful players and I can't remember the last time the won a trophy....France had so many skillful and talented players this euro but the swiss crashed them out simply because France couldn't defend compactly...football world don't necessarily leverage on a skillful and talented team anymore they will rather bank on a strong team ready to die for each other ....wen was the last time we had such in super eagles

First, Rohr was not even aware of the friendly from start. How do you setup a friendly without the coach being aware.

Secondly, the match is inconsequential. It does not add or subtract to our ranking.

Rohr will never be in charge of the development of local league players. You will never see southgate teying to develop England local players. He willnonly choose those who he feels are the best. If he says there are no good players in the league, that's his opinion. NFF are trying to mandate him to develop the local based and also choose them. That's not his job. His job is to choose.

Our best players are not in the league.
NFF didn't just say he should choose local players. The foreign based players told him that they were tired to play the friendly. The foreign based players lack discipline and the coach has no good relationship with his foreign based players.

2. Rohr then told Eguavoen to select home based players for the friendly match. It shows that Rohr himself does not know the best players in the NFL or he perhaps believes the league is trash.

3. Eguavoen told the NPL coaches to do the selection. This shows that even Eguavoen doesn't know the local based players enough. What then has he been doing since as assistant??

4. Clearly, the NPL coaches chose not the best, but their own favorite players for the friendly. Nepotism in Nigeria is a deeply entrenched problem.

NB: Rohr earns 22 million naira every month as coach of the super eagles of Nigeria. He should be fired ASAP.

Isn't it in his contract to work with home based players? Didn't he no this before signing d contract? Is it his job to complain? Rohr doesn't have a single passion for his job as nigerias national team coach. Before d last WC, he was also complaining and giving excuses that d players he was taking to d WC weren't good enough because they don't play in Barcelona, real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester city and other top clubs in Europe. And because of this, d team will fail. What type of coach is that?
His own country were defending champions and had players from d best clubs in d world, yet crashed out in d group stage of d WC. There's no coach in d world that has all d type of players he wants. They make do with what they have. But Rohr wants his 22 players be Messi and Ronaldo before he will succeed
grin grin Same Rohr wey una dey owe 6 months salary. Make him kill him self for una abi. Which foreign coach have we employed that has spent more time in Nigeria like him? He may not be technically gifted but he is right on our local players.

There's nothing wrong if they play international. This is a friendly match and it's good exposure for them going by what u are saying.
Pls look at my question again:

Is it because they didn't qualify for CHAN that they aren't good enough?

Have there been times our almighty foreign based players haven't qualified for AFCON and WC? Does that d players weren't good enough?

When Germany dropped out of d last WC as defending champions in d group stage, where d players good enough or not good enough?

you don answer you own question,

if they cant qualify for CHAN then they are not good enough to wear national jersey. There are thousands of nigerian footballers on holiday now playing professionally that would love a call up.

No be this ones

One of the problems of nigeria as it e jaga jaga now is sentiment and not meritocracy

National team is meant for best of the best not for selling players.

This team could not even have a shot on goal, no chance created. YOu wan carry street football come international stage?

Who does that? Professional football is 70% brain work plus 30%physicalilty

Even brasil with all the thousands of players they will always field their best even if they are playing one small island or unknown country.

How many domestic league games have you watched? How many matches have you attended? You people will rather support Chelsea and the likes than promote the home league and you call yourself fans.

But how can a typical citizen promote a whole league.
I think it is a chicken and egg argument at play here.
What comes first, an attractive league or loyal 'fanhood'.

I have always said this.
You can be as patriotic and local contented as regards physical goods and services but when it comes to intellectual property and the performing arts of which sports is loosely bound it is hard, very hard not to be attracted to the very highest standards wherever they are found worldwide.

No one can feign patriotism when standards are deliberately kept poor for the benefit of a selfish few and they in turn resist all public pressure to reform and improve them.

Before satellite TV God knows I listened to the BBC World Service as did my father and his father before him because they had the highest standards needed by my poor young mind to broaden and deepen knowledge of all things as opposed to local news that still remain the vista of whoever is in power with resulting poor standards and wide spread ignorance.

Same as in our sports and league. And I will put it to you. If you do not watch foreign matches, HOW IN THE WORLD WILL YOU REALISE THE STANDARDS YOU SHOULD BE ASPIRING TO. So where do you start the reforms from.

The result today simply shows the entrenched failed attitude of selfishness ingrained in those who fight and die to run our sports. Believe me, they know what is right but cannot bring themselves to do what is right and so the chicken breaks the egg of 'fanhood' and the cycle of progress is ended.

PS: By the way I personally do not need to watch any of the matches this weekend to appreciate any outcome. Any top half team will surely win at home and any bottom half team will surely lose away or just find out who is not paying players wages and wait for their away matches and cash out, simple. This league is poor, period.

NFF president categorically said it was his idea to use homebased, eguaveon was supposed to coach but he could get visa.

Rohr was their to watch

Rohr is a pragmatic coach more defensive. Go hire guardiola if u have his money. E go resign in one month

As a coach, you use your best hands for competitive games. Rohr was not brought in to develop the Super Eagles Academy, we have coaches of younger sides for that. If the NFF insisted on using the home-based guys for experiment, well they now have their answer.
