Men suspected to be bandits have kidnapped many students of Bethel Baptist School located in Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The development comes just hours after bandits abducted babies, female nurses and security guards from the residential quarters of the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Centre (NTLC) in Zaria, Kaduna State on Sunday.

According to the reports from Sahara,it was learnt that the bandits invaded the school at about 2am on Monday shooting sporadically into the air before kidnapping the students.

This incident comes a few weeks after some students of Federal Government College, Birnin-Yauri in Kebbi state were kidnapped after gunmen stormed the school. On May 30, pupils were abducted from an Islamic School in Tegina, Niger State.

On March 12, bandits also abducted 39 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In February 2021, gunmen struck the Government Secondary School in Kagara, Niger State, abducting school pupils, teachers and workers.

Further. Also on December 11, 2020, 344 secondary schoolboys were also abducted from Kankara in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, while he was there.

And also Hundreds of schoolgirls were also kidnapped in Chibok in 2014 by Boko Haram, some of whom have not been released till date.

In February 2018, 110 schoolgirls were also abducted by Boko Haram from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State. Five died in the process while others were later released, except Leah Sharibu, a Christian girl who refused to renounce her faith.

This was an extract from Sunday Igboho call in to WoTV Africa

Its with great sadness I am saying this. I am still in shock of what DSS did. The memory still haunts me whenever it flashes in.
Its tormenting to watch people you love maimed, tortured and killed infront of you. I was standing there watching the whole DSS gory acts, but I couldn’t do anything.

I want to categorically state that ever since I started my freedom fight, I have never killed anyone. Ilana Omo yoruba legal team always warn me to ensure no live is lost during all our campaigns. It will be an excuse for the government to incriminate me. And that is why they could not arrest or invite me for questioning until the last failed attack.

When they came, they started shouting my name “Sunday Igboho come out..Adeyemo come out, seyi, lady K, Bambo…e.t.c” I was woundering how they got to know the names of my guys who don’t even go out with me. Then I realized an Insider was among them.

I saw they were Nigerian forces in uniform, I felt relaxed, I thought to myself, maybe they are here to finally arrest me, so no need to fight. I moved down to my gate to try and talk to them. Before you know it, they started raining guns at my gate. They started shooting in all direction, shooting to kill any living thing bullet can hit. Then I knew they were not here to arrest.

They started dismantling my gate with heavy object. I thought they came for me. I told everyone in the house to relax, they came for me. They should not fight and that was my mistake. I thought if they don’t see me, they will arrest whoever they see and go. So I dissapeared. But I was still in that building.

When they gained entrance to my inner rooms, they saw Afa that was preparing to perform salat. Armless in white Jalabia, they shot him at close range. I was there, I saw them. I saw like 30 people rushing Adogan. They already heard information that he is a fighter. They rained bullet at him, yet he didn’t put up any resistance. Why didn’t they arrest Adogan? Why were they raining bullets on him while he was kneeling down?

Because their bullets failed to pierce his skin, they angrily pounced on him, suffocate his neck, hit him on his head with the same mortal they used for breaking my gate. I could not utter a word. I didn’t run away..I was among them, but they could not see me. If I had appeared, some of them would have died. And that would have given legitimacy to their illegal operation.

They killed, looted, searched everywhere, they left and came back again asking where are the cats in this house. He has turned to a cat. Imagine the insult. Me? cat?

I saw adogan maimed infront of me. I still see the scene in my dreams. The scene can’t go away.
With what I saw on that day, I knew Nigeria is in a serious trouble. If not for the uniform those people are wearing, you would think they are bokoharam or armed robbers. I was asking myself, are these people really government agencies? But they cleared my doubt when they came out to claim responsibility for the attack.

They had some french speaking armed men too covering themselves in juju.

FYI, the juju cloth they are parading does not belong to me. Its true that I have, but I can asure you no one can touch my own without using his family members as blood sacrifice.
Same goes to those guns. I don’t keep guns at home. I use bareta. I have no AK47. And I don’t keep them at home. I know my house will be broken one day. They have been making attempts, so its common sense for me not to keep guns at home.

Wole Soyinka, Nobel laureate, says Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped by the Federal Government.

Kanu was on Sunday extradited to Nigeria to face trial after he jumped bail and fled the country in 2017.

Speaking with BBC Pidgin on Monday, the literary icon said there would be an uproar in the country if the truth of how Kanu was arrested becomes known.

“It’s not for me to tell the president to prepare itself because it’s going to be a huge squawk when the truth about how Kanu was arrested comes out. People are alleging this or that. That is one phase whether Nigeria has acted outside international law,” Soyinka said.

“The second issue, however, has to do with Kanu’s conduct outside the nation. There’s been a level of hate rhetoric which has been unfortunate, from Kanu. Hate rhetoric is an issue that can only be judged by the laws of any nation.

“Was it right ‘to have been kidnapped?’ You can say intercepted as much as you want but I think Kanu was kidnapped. That is wrong internationally and morally.

Commenting on the reactions that have trailed the swiftness with which the federal government arrested Kanu, the Nobel laureate said the federal government has not shown the same eagerness in going after bandits and insurgents.

“The Government can not wash itself clean on what seems to be a kind of comparative energy in pursuing the destabilised forces in the nation,” he said.

“If we take ourselves back, once when I threw a challenge to Buhari, what I expect from a true leader is to issue an order, give a deadline that any illegal occupant of any villages, farms is given 48hours to quit after which the mighty forces of the nation will be unleashed on them. It was ignored.

“Years later, he came to say ‘we will respond to these people in the language they understand’. This is what I expected him to have said years ago, at the beginning of the insurgency.

“Their leadership–the Miyetti Allah — should have been arrested years ago, long before IPOB was declared a terrorist organisation.”

He said rather, the Miyetti Allah group has continued to act unchecked while the federal government has refused to “mount the same energy against them”.

“So people are right to say there has been an unequal and irregular approach to security and enforcement in this nation,” he added.

He advised the federal government to stop the blame game and take action.

https://tribune.com.pk/story/2308657/nigeria-hails-fighting-capabilities-of-jf-17-thunder-aircraft?amp=1
Military experts have long been comparing JF-17 Thunder with Rafale aircraft but Air Vice Marshal (retd) Shahzad Chaudhry, while sharing his views in Express News talk show earlier this year, said Rafale could be compared with F-16 but it had no one-to-one comparison with even JF-17.

He said that Rafale didn’t bring any new technology to the region but the similar tech already existed in F-16 and SU-30.

Chaudhry said that JF-17’s role was completely different than Rafale’s and the latter’s comparison will be made with F-16 as it had a similar role that of Rafale. “For the airspace that we have to defend, F-16s, JF-17s and other platforms emerge in an integrated shape as a formidable force and it was demonstrated in February 2019,” he said.

“The Indian Air Force is the same; the Pakistani Air Force is the same but Pakistan Air Force better demonstrated its combined, synergetic and integrated capability,” Chaudhry had said.

Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka has asked the Federal Government to apologise to Sunday Igboho after officials of the Department of State Services invaded his home and killed two of his associates.

The DSS invaded Igboho’s house in Ibadan, Oyo State, early on Thursday based on intelligence it said it had received that he was stockpiling arms to cause chaos within the region.

Igboho, who has been declared wanted by the DSS, had recently been calling for a ‘Yoruba Nation’ over what he has described as a ‘Fulani invasion’ of the South-West.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin published on Monday, Soyinka said the government’s actions and rationale for invading Igboho’s home “stinks.”

“My advise to the government is that they should stop pursuing Igboho as a criminal, because you have begun by acting in a criminal fashion against him,” he said.

“If and when Igboho comes to trial, I guarantee you the government will be very embarrassed.

“I think they should tell Igboho ‘we made a mistake’, ‘we should not have acted in this way’, ‘you are no longer wanted’, ‘go back to your home, in fact escort him to his home’ and let him resume his normal life.”

According to Soyinka, Igboho’s fight for freedom was preceded by criminal acts of enemies of Nigeria who “appear to be supported by the force of the State.”

While Soyinka noted he doesn’t ‘like the sound of a Yoruba Nation’ anymore than he likes the sound of a Tiv or Igbo nation, he said the country must be restructured through the decentralisation of power.

According to the erudite professor, Nigeria’s current structure was imposed upon the people by the military.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has again opened up on the recent re-arrest and re-arraignment of his client.

Ejiofor made the disclosure during an exclusive interview on Arise News Morning Show on Monday, July 5, 2021.

Lawyer Ejiofor indicted Kenyan authorities who he said had beaten Nnamdi Kanu to a coma while holding him in illegal detention.

He also revealed that his client was held in a private residence instead of a legal detention facility as required by the law.

Ejiofor further maintained that Nnamdi Kanu never jumped bail but was forced to seek protection for his life which was as a result of a security breach by Nigerian security authorities.

Barrister Ejiofor also insisted that IPOB, though proscribed in Nigeria, was never ratified by any country or organization outside Nigeria.

He expressed worries that Nnamdi Kanu will not get a fair trial owing to the perceived “illegalities” involving the court presided by Justice Binta Nyako and the Department of State Security (DSS).
