JohnBullMySon: At least someone is Speaking the truth, Comparing Asisat Oshoala to Megan Rapinoe is an insult to Women Football as a whole... If I'm to even rate Asisat Oshoala she's just 60% of Megan Rapinoe.. |

Schemerkhiz: Rapinoe dey try and she's acheived more than oshoala for sure. But make una calm down with her hype. Rapinoe is grossly overated and wasn't even the best player in that USA team itself. Her last world best award win was purely political and she herself knows it. Someone that only played 11 games in a whole year then, like how? No be juju be that Her being the face of LGBTQ+ also helped her. 1 Like |

timay: I'm not even talking of the last FIFA world best she won, If you watch Megan Rapinoe from 2008 till date you would know better... Let's stop this unnecessary comparison. Go and check her performance (Watch the USWNT game's) at major tournament 2011, 2015, 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.. 2012, 2016 Olympic game's... Then go for her NWSL games too then you can come back and argue with me.. This is not a matter of you watched her against Nigeria recently ooo ... |

BascoVanVeli:I understand you, but sometimes it's good we tell ourselves the truth. Oshoala can be considered top 20 but definitely there are some things she has to improve on to make her compete for the world best crown. She has pace but she is not very skillful. Also her first touch and finishing must be worked on a little bit. Honest question...Would you say Oshoala is better than Akide was in terms of finishing or as skillful as Perpetua? 1 Like |

Didn't want to be sucked into this debate, but Megan and Oshoala are not on the same page. Megan has accolades and trophies that Oshoala can only dream about. What is even more admirable is she performs against the women's big gun teams of the world. The evidence speaks for itself. AkinDS: Oshoala is 10 times the better club player. Rapinoe never won the Champions League, never scored in the finals and hasn't won as many league titles. The reason Oshoala can't dream about those accolades is because we have to do well in an Olympics or world cup to have the best player at these competitions. |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:20pm On Jul 05, 2021 |
But regardless of whether you played club or national team football, the powers that be will recognize your contributions. The fact that Rapinoe won the FIFA Women's footballer of the year and the best Oshoala can hope for is the African fooballer of the year speaks volumes. Oshoala has not ever been considered for the FIFPRO women's team of the year. That is quite telling too, don't you think? BascoVanVeli: |

BascoVanVeli: Please, just don't do this... Comparing Oshoala to Rapinoe is an insult, I mean it, bro. Rapinoe has continued to shine from when she came into limelight up until now, at 36; She's achieved a lot that Oshoala should be aspiring for... Or you think that making the American team na beans?... And then she continues to be the best at what she does. So you know, Oshoala cannot even make that American team ; a lot of players there are clearly better than her. Even forwards at Barca, such as Hermosa, Martens, Hansen are clearly above her- their overall play trumps hers. The reason Oshoala shines in Africa is that the standard is low on the continent. Being fast and strong is useless if a forward is wasteful, largely unpolished ; highly tactical and technical teams would easily clip such forwards, rendering them ineffective... Or, haven't you noticed that Oshoala even struggles against average teams because she is not clinical? Even judging from that USA match, what was Oshoala's impact? Would you compare her play with Rapinoe's? Abeg, Oshoala should remain humble and learn. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Thembi Kgatlana, reinforcement for the rojiblanco attack July 6, 2021 - 11:46 The 25-year-old player and senior international for South Africa signs with our club until 2023. Thembi Kgatlana (May 2, 1995, South Africa) is a new Atlético de Madrid Femenino player until 2023. The South African player, international for her country, arrives to reinforce the rojiblanco attack. The 25-year-old South African international is one of the main promises of South African football, being named the best African player in 2018. She trained at the University of the Western Cape, in 2018 she traveled to the United States to enter the ranks of the Houston Dash, a team in which she remained for a season until signing for Beijing BG Phoenix and later for Benfica. In 2020 she made the leap to the Spanish league by joining the SD Eibar squad, the team from which she comes. We spoke to the South African international upon her arrival in Madrid: “I am very happy to arrive at Atlético de Madrid. As a footballer you always dream of playing for the best clubs ”. Furthermore, Kgatlana said: “My first goal is to be a team player and to work hard for the team. I am very happy to be able to join you soon, I can't wait to meet you all. " Welcome, Kgatlana!

timay: You're Wrong...... For your information the England Senior Women National Team has been in Contact with ASHLEIGH but it's her and her Family decision that's why she wants to play for Nigeria.. She had over 35Caps for England from the U15 to U23level... She's Leicester City best Defender just 23years By the time you watch her play in the WSL you will know how good she is.. |

This lady is a football nomad - she has been all over the place. Anyhow, congrats to her, even though her playing time might be limited to bit part roles. She is definitely behind Ludmila (BRA), Deyna Castellanos (VEN) and Tatiana Bonetti (ITA). She will also have to contend with Ajara Nchout of CMR and maybe Rasheedat Ajibade. I see her as a bench player, unless she makes a big impression on the coach. Schemerkhiz: |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:07pm On Jul 06, 2021 |
No she wouldn't have! Why is your argument centered around club accomplishments and the European football scene only? Do you even know anything about the American NWSL? Do you have any idea how strong it is? It is not by happenstance that the US has consistently had the best team in the world for over 2 decades now. Do you know how many of the worlds best players are in the NWSL? Also, Oshoala does NOT have more records than Rapinoe, if you look at the records that anyone really cares about. If and when Oshoala starts to be considered as the Women's Balon d'oro and the FIFPro World X1 team, THEN you can draw up comparisons to Rapinoe. Up until then, you really do not have an argument! 68816419: |

AkinDS: Rasheedat Ajibade has improved a lot, her performance at the Summer Series was commendable, the Competitions at the Atletico de Madrid Femenino attack position is really good for her game, now that Thembi has gone there, the Competition for shirt will even be more tougher... She played several positions (Central Midfield, Behind the forwards and from the Right Wing forward) at the Summer Series.. How would you rate her performance?? Deyna Castellanos (VEN) will definitely play from the Midfield... |

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 5:32pm On Jul 06, 2021 |
I have a little concern though. I think the standard of our league is going down, because only Vivian played a bit above average in this past summer series. Ogbona and Okeke improved against the U.S.A, but overall they didn't have a good performance. This is a league that gave us outstanding players in time past. I wonder what's happening. |
