Am an architect..if you have in mind traveling after study..go for civil..but if don't go for architecture..in Nigeria architecture is not practice as it were practice in other parts of the world..in Nigeria an architect will draw and build for you... If you can do a good design and have a full practical knowledge of building.. guy you can never be poor or rich..there must be food on your table..am a living witness..

Both professions are struggling at the moment in Nigeria.

I know a number of civil engineers who have closed shop and frankly speaking, clients prefer to pay their bricklayers than to pay their architects. That's the truth.

I'm an architect and I'll advise you to go study mathematics or physics since you're good at maths already.

During your long holidays you can register at a good computer institute and learn Java programming or even teach yourself if you're brilliant.

Combining a degree in maths with Java is hot cake.

Then, when you finish your first degree, I'll advice you to go for your masters in project management.

My dear brother , both courses are good. Both I will advice architecture , [b]though more stressful to study , but if you are smart , you can start earning from [/b]school from knowledge of applications of softwares for rendering and animations

Just go and do Civil.
Civil is the most dynamic branch of engineering.
Especially if you intend to travel abroad. You could find yourself in geotechnical, Structures, transportation/traffic, municipal, material testing, construction, Surveying/Geomatics e.t.c

Architectural jobs can easily be done by CAD drafters.

Well it depends on what gives you kick.. Do you want to be doing the work of creation(architecture) or the act of bringing bringing designs to reality(civil engineering)... Architects are concerned about building design, fuctionality and aethetic and civil are concerned about structural design and buildabilty( how the building will stand) both can still do the work of building on field which i suppose is the work of a builder. What architects and engineer are suppose to do after design is site supervision to check if things are being done according to the design..if you are good as an architect or civil engineer, you ll start earning from school trust me even though it might be small small change but it goes along way.. Engineers are rich, architect mak money too depending on how good you are and your speciality, as you can be a design or project architect just like you can be a design or project engineer also u can be a road, building engineer and others... If you know you are creative and can deal with stress, go for architecture(architecture school is stressful, lot of assignments and practicals though you might not be reading much cos you ll be doing drawings most) on the part of engineering, its though too but you ll have to be sound in calculations cause that what a building needs to stand. So you know where you stand.. Plus there is a big competition in architecture as there r many creatives outside so u must be a good thinker and creator to survive and you ll need to learn a lot of things outside your course to be a good architect but as an engineer, you just av to priotise know how to make a building stand... And about job vacancies, architect get job easily and faster as long as u r good,engineers get jobs too but not as much vacacies as architect role.. Also you can decide to stand alone and be self employed in both decipline as long as u av the connection and experience which means you might not even need to search for job when you are done schooling... What ever you do, just be good at it... And about who is more rich, well av seen rich engineers and av seen rich architects, and trust me if you are good in either course, you ll not be poor, i dont mean you ll be rich, no, but you ll be okay with time.. you just av to go through the process love what you do and wait for your opportunity to come.

I advise you go for agriculture, and education course that can guarantee you self employment.

To be honest, if you failed Pascal and Fortran then CS nobi your line. In my first year I went straight from a club to exam Hall to write CSC108-Programming I. Na A I get despite being a little drunk. Years later I wrote an exam in Fortran77....na me be play maker for the exam hall. The language is irrelevant as long as u understand the concepts. The language is just a means to express the concepts

I studied architecture. And I must tell u that architecture is in Nigeria is growing massively. I got my first design contract, a 3 storey building (hotel) while I was still in school and even after school I frequently get contract. There is also steady flow of drafting jobs if you have the skill In AutoCAD and other 3D which you can depend on when u don't have direct contract. The field is growing seriously. In the building industry, Architects are the prime consultant, they earn more.

See, if u are not good at math, stay away from civil, but if u can not think and design creatively, stay away from architecture. If you can stay away for 2-3 days stay away from architecture. Plus u go spend tire soteh ur sponsor go think say u don open office for his head.

To excel in architecture, u must be in a state capital. For me, I dey abuja.

Go for civil engineering or building technology, it is very promising, you can serve as a project manager and have all the best architects to interpret your ideeas while you cash out big time. This I’m saying from experience.

Nigeria have building codes. The problem is enforcement.
