Hello Everyone,

I just got GA offer today. I requested for I-20 reflecting the funding and I have gotten the electronic copy. My school will resume on August 2nd. Is there any hope of getting an expedited appointment to meet up with the timeline?

Is the August 2nd the earliest admission date, when classes start or the program start date( when Orientation starts)?

Sorry. Studying (F1 )VISA is discussed here.
I actually asked a question regarding this. Nobody replied at all. I’ve been following this thread for a long time .

This was what i typed earlier

I’ve been following this thread for a while , my family isn’t in naija, I was supposed to finish sch 2020 (extra year ) but because of covid everything got rubbished . This year I collected my transcript in school (didn’t later finish the extra year) , I’m planning on using the transcript to continue once I travel. Someone I know did this same thing when he was in 300 level here and he continued his course in USA when he travelled.
What are my chances and what are the things I should do ? I don’t want to use a tourist visa, I know some of my mates that bought results to use to travel , claiming to go over there to do masters .
I don’t want to do that .
I just want to continue and grad over there

Looks like you are about to finish why didn't you just finish that phase of life and start another?

You can try Abuja since it looks they are opening slots in July for emergency. Is this your first attempt?

Trust me , nobody understands my decision more than me , I should have left since my second year but I struggled so much which wasn’t paying off and I was literally wasting my time . Major reason, I was uninterested from the start , terrible course , forced to do it by my former sch .

It’s not late for me . That’s why I want to do this right now and go . I’m sick and tired and it’s getting to me

Please advise on the following for DS-160 completion:

1. Intended Length of Stay in U.S: For a master's degree, should this be 2 Years or the 3 Years maximum duration indicated on I-20?
2. Person/Entity Paying for Your Trip (Travel Information): Is this for travel expenses alone or tuition inclusive? If the later, please advise if the best option for student with GA? Self, Other Company/Organization or Employer in the US?

No course? Do you have a WES evaluation? Any standardized test?
BSc Physics. I didn't have WES evaluation and I didn't write any test.

Thank you for asking.
I also need clarification on this.
1-20 states 3 years maximum to finish program but the program is for two years. Should it be filled as 3 years on the DS 160 as it is on the 1-20?

1. The exact duration it states on your i20. You can convert to months and fill in, in your ds160.

2. The person, you would say it’s your sponsor during your interview, MUST CORRESPOND with what’s on your DS160 as Trip Sponsor and on your I20 as sponsor.

If the person name isn’t being State on your i20, then you’re good.

But TRIP SPONSOR === Sponsor Sponsor

You won't have to pay another MRV fee if you only booked one interview date so far and have not rescheduled. I was also in the same situation; I had booked emergency appointment in Lagos but received no response even after 2 weeks. I was able to switch to Abuja with the same MRV fee and still book for emergency appointment. We get two bookings with each MRV fee.

Brother I wanted to try the same thing but it says I have exhausted the number of appointment when I have only applied once and that I will have to pay another MRV to book another date. I'm confused about this appointment issue. Can we talk further on whatsapp please.. 08104157278 is my number.

You may go ahead. If you dnt get a favorable date write to your department about spring 2022 if they can keep the funded offer & you come in Spring2022. Best!

Based on your profile I will advise you do a WES ,a TOEFL( key for fall2022) and may be a GRE( since some schools make it optional). With your current profile you can get admits but funding can be difficult since your course work performance is not strong ( your GPA is not stellar) & you dnt have Ms. I dnt know if you have research experience though or strong professional experience in your field! Since you are planning on spring try work on your profile to apply to decent schools but note that funding is limited in spring.

Hello guys,

Please what do you advice if no response from an expedited appointment yet while resumption is Aug 11? Deferment is not an option here though but how do you think It's can get an appointment. It's over 3 weeks I applied (Lagos consulate).
Thanks

I'm in the same boat right now. I read people saying I won't have to pay MRV if I cancel and book to Abuja but I'm seeing a different info on the US visa website. I need thorough confirmation on these questions before proceeding to change to Abuja.

For the sponsors, I have GA from school (Full tuition waiver with stipend totalling 28k) but with a deficit of 12k (living expenses and other fees) which I propose to offset with personal funds. Should I then say it is self sponsored?

It's better to have a family(father, mother, aunty or uncle) sponsor than self. Because if you run out of your personal funds, who is gonna help you financially. They believe if you have a family sponsor, money will always get to you. Unless you can really convince them you have saved up for many years (like 5 years and above) and have sufficient funds (bank statements come in here) to cater for your needs. And besides you have GA, so try get a family sponsor and get it indicated as 'family funds' on your I-20 if it's not stated like that already. Cheers!

You have 7 days before classes starts. I wish I had your luck now. Please practice and pray for your interview. If you are given an emergency date, good but if not stick to your 16.
