It is For the same reason your dad didn't name your Sisters Jezebel..

Names are Symbolic and Spiritual. The Name you bare could have deep impact in you.

In Africa, it has to do with ignorance really. There are plenty of females with "Delilah" for a name elsewhere who share nothing in common with the biblical dame of the same name. undecided

I know a pretty Delilah. The last I heard of her she slept with her best friend's husband on their wedding night birthing triplets nine months later..

That said girls with other names have done worse. A neighbour called Ruth killed her husband with acid. Yet the biblical Ruth was a virtuous woman.

Delilah means delicate in both Hebrew and Arabic. Once a not very popular name because of the biblical character Delilah many parents now look pass the biblical stigma. In the US it has griown to become one of the top names starting with D.

Off record Anini wasn't named Barnabas yet the difference between him and a rat is the position of the tail.. Upbringing and environment affect people more than the names the bear. Many people called Jesus in Southern America dont know the name of the first book of the Bible..

"Judas", "Jude", "Juda" are, I believe, variants of the name "Judah" which means "praised" or "praised one". undecided

Well, you haven't come across any. Now, that's what you should have said.

There are hundreds of girls out there going by that name.

That happens when you use wikipedia to study bible. You will get the right answer when you use bible concordance.

(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong's Dictionary)
h1807. דְּלִילָה ḏelîylâ; from 1809; languishing: — Delilah, a Philistine woman: — Delilah.AV (6) - Delilah 6; Delilah = "feeble"
.

And again...

Psalms 105:37
37 . .and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

Hebrews 12:12
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

how funny will it sound if you replace the word FEEBLE in these verses with the word DELICATE . Feeble simply means weak. lacking strength.

Delicate means breakable easily broken..feeble mean"WEAK. no.strenght

a plate is strong but delicate . but it is not weak.

but a feeble person refers to weak in strenght

read the verses i posted in other translations

Hebrews 12:12 KJV
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees

Hebrews 12:12 (NLT)
12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees

That's the mistake you kept making. The bible is clear enough

Hebrews 12:12 (NLT)

Mistake? The thesaurus clearly tells you that the word "Delicate" and "feeble" are synonyms, and you are still yapping on about what again? undecided
