Only because Southgate chose not to play through the midfield and kept the spare man at the back. Despite that Verratti was the one we were concerned about, not Escortinho. The English DMs remain the only ones in the tournament not to concede from open play all through.

That thing about Mount drifting is true. It's something I have noticed, and it's the reason he was as anonymous as he was. He drifts out and stays on the periphery a lil too much, when he should be drifting INTO spaces in the middle third of the pitch. It's a shame, because he possesses a fantastic halfturn and him making himself available in those pockets of spaces would lead to some quick transitions up the pitch and benefit his team.

However, it IS something that can be corrected and learned as he continues to develop. That's why while I recognise that it's a problem, I do believe it can be rectified as he matures. I've watched him for three years, and he has made improvements in different facets of his game, and I believe he will continue to get better from here.

What me I sha don't agree with is when one says things like there's nothing remotely creative about him, or he can't make a through pass to save his life, or he cannot improve. These are simply not true. In fact, they're very false. There's plenty of room for improvement in the playmaking aspect of his game, but saying he offers nothing in that regard is too much of a stretch.

I feel this very season will be very defining for him, and the other young guys like Havertz. He's got to show that he can be THAT guy, and while I believe he has the tools to be THAT guy, he has to start showing it.

That is true. Because he is an AM that focuses on speed and running with the ball rather than dominating the final third. These are overload AMs - always looking to support a fullback or winger create an overload rather than drive through the middle themselves. I don't like that in AMs. It gives me Oscar vibes.

But as for yesterday, he was playing in a 3-4-3 and his tactical instruction was not to play in the middle but the upper right quadrant.

Im talking of his stat but how effective his game is. I don’t bank my football knowledge on stat. As good as Kane he goes missing when ur matter most all the time so I will prefer drogba type of striker to him. It’s not about quantity but quality. Mount is still improving as a player, nobody said he is world class already

havertz has more impact in games than mount but you people want mount to play 10, while havertz that is arguably the most creative player in our team should be wasted as a 9

My whole argument has always been this, Lampard didn't allow havertz play 10 cause there wouldn't be room to accommodate mount, it's the truth, forced havertz to play 8 with mount, all my rants on this thread have been on this issue

I have complained and complained, was called a hater, some even said that i'm not a Chelsea fan but we have seen both players individually now, havertz should play 10, I don't know where mount fits in, left for me, he can be a sub to close out games but mount isn't an impact player, we would waste years waiting for him to become one, he doesnt have the talent or skill to enter that gear
