Infact when SG approached him for the 5th after consulting with his assistant, you can see Saka despite nodding yes was unsure because it was an absolute unfamiliar territory for the kid.

Practicing PK during training is different from taking PK in such a high pressure moment. I said this after the game that this experience will either build up Saka’s mentality or break him, causing him to stagnate and regress but I believe it will be the former because he has a strong natural support and an incredible mental strength.

If ronaldo and messi can miss in high pressure moments then there's nobody above it, Hopefully saka would come out stronger and in some spaces would still be appreciated for accepting to take it ahead of others despite not lifting the trophy

Nah they'll be fine. Most times the media backlash is swift and immediate a la Beckham in 98 or Rooney in 06. Once we get past the initial brouhaha everything tends to die down. I can assure you they'd get a warm welcome from the majority of Fans in the various stadiums they will play in this season.

They won't be a witch hunt from the Media. Far from it. This is the best team we've had since 66/70(The true golden generation) and the best chance of lifting a major trophy and they know it.

Our preseason will start in Ireland later this month...there isn't really any set date (or even opponent, I think) but we might play one or two games there.

The one I know for sure is that we'll be playing Arsenal and Tottenham early August, before the Super Cup against Villarreal.

The friendly in Ireland will likely be executed by fringe players, since most senior players that went for the Euros and Copa are yet to join the preseason.

Attackers are not necessarily the best penalty takers. Sterling does not have good physiology for penalties. K leg players like Sterling find it hard to lift the ball off the ground. That's why Sterling is also not good at crossing. These players tend to play penalties low which increases the keepers chances.

Grealish own is mental block or maybe a superstition just like his small shinpads superstition. He refuses to take them for Villa even last season when Watkins was failing at penalties, they went to El Ghazi.

I was surprised Henderson was taken off as he is Liverpool's third penalty taker if Salah and Milner are not around and he has a good penalty record, and is a senior player and a captain for his club.

Other players with good physiology to place penalties high would have been Luke Shaw and Kalvin Phillips. They have good accuracy with lifting the ball thanks to their bow leg and are also older.

I think Southgate practiced with the 5 players that took the penalty otherwise there is no reason to bring off Henderson. They were great as individual players but as a team, there was zero cohesion. That's the difference.

For example I have seen better players play for the Azzuris over the years but as a team, this is one of the Best Azzuris I have seen in my lifetime. It's a case of the Whole being greater than the sum of it's parts.
