I had my baby at Divine blessed Assurance. Prof is really good and I had a smooth one.. both antenatal and birthing, it is not bad because of the doctors Sha. They top best in Enugu

I also currently use St Patrick's hospital opposite Niger Foundation hospital all at Presidential road. They are very good too but very expensive. In all, find one your spirit aligns. I hope it helps

See my fellow Enugu mama and hospital mate.
I don't know there are Enugu mamas here smiley

During the course of pregnancy I learnt and unlearn a lot of things which I'm applying now and I can see the difference.
1. Drugs - Almost every nursing mother has 'Ajogba', it is a bowl where baby meds such as antibiotics, multivitamin, pain reliever and others are kept. It's administered everyday not because the baby is ill but more like a preventive. I did this when I had my first baby.
Now I know better, if a baby is not ill no need pumping him/her with medication, it's called drug abuse. This is what I'm practicing now and so far we're good.
2. Cord - Some people apply all sorts on the cord so that it can fall off easily, as such infecting the area. When all that is actually needed is to clean the cord/navel with methylated spirit alone several times a day to prevent infection, the more you do that the cord dries off and fall. LOBATAN
I did this for my new baby and in no time cord falls off and the navel is closed.
3. Skincare - I've learnt that for a baby's skin less is more. Not necessarily about the brand name but how effective is it on your baby.
Coconut oil/Shea butter/Palm kernel oil does wonder on baby skin. Please find the one that suit your baby.
4. Powders - Now I know it's not compulsory to apply powder on babys' except when they have rashes.
5. For their bum - Blue seal, Ori, Coconut oil are good barrier cream/oil for baby. It prevents diaper rash as well.

5/5, I'm proud of myself even though many people were looking at me as if I'm an alien I still care not, calling me different names as a ftm but na dust I dust am. cheesy

Wow.. Wow.. I've really learnt a lot. I use to think those drugs (ajogba) were given or prescribed by doctors oo. Though, I read something about giving babies drugs on Fb, I read it isn't ideal or necessary but I've not confirmed that, but now I know better.
Concerning the cord thing, I see mothers using hot stone with towel on the baby's cord/navel, even my mum did that, at least I was a bit grown when she gave birth to our last born, there was that particular stone she put on stove then to 'massage' the navel with one menthol like that.
For the tiro and powder, I never liked the idea. I don't like seeing a baby with black eyes and full white/pink face in the name of 'moju'. Now I know better. I really appreciate the time you took to explain all these, I am more oriented now.
I hope MIL won't think I'm just naive when I try not to accept all these their traditional methods.
Thanks a lot mama. Your kind gesture is deeply appreciated.
Fortunately for me, my MIL is open to new way of doing things because she said she as always questioned the old way of doing things albeit quietly.
For the navel massage, my mil does that after the cord falls off.
Here is her procedure:
1. She grind African nutmeg(eru), cloves(konafuru) & one other item I've forgotten it's name together.
2. She grinds them roughly, sprinkle water on it to make it damp then tie together in a piece of cloth, flatten the bottom of the cloth to form a base to sit comfortably on the lantern
3. When she's about to bathe the baby, she lit the lantern turn it to low/medium heat and place the tied cloth on it.
4. After bathing the baby, she applies the warm cloth on the navel, it gives a soothing and aromatic effect on the baby.
The key word is WARM so before using it on the baby always try it on yourself first.
Note: when you want to use it, sprinkle water on the base of the tied cloth so that it can absorb heat.

Momma.

Please can I use Panadol?
This regular headaches eh and sleep seems hard to come by these days. Just so much images on my mind.

Kindly advice

Please use Paracetamol instead and take it sparingly I.e. not prolonged use. But, it's best you visit or call your doctor to make this complaint.

Sorry mama. It's possible it's stress.

I had the same nasal congestion with very disturbing cough for about two weeks. Cough was terrible cos it made me want to throw up. I couldn't take any meds except vit c and honey. At some point, I started taking warm/hot lemon water with honey. I feel a whole better. For headaches, I took paracetamol and rested.
I'm in my 34th week. According to scan, I'm in my 36th week.

Please try to rest as possible. I've promised myself that I can't kill myself. I make sure to find that to rest or take a lil nap at work. All these while I wasn't and it took a heavy toll on me. To the extent that I had a scare and doctor sent for scan to ensure everything sZ good with baby.

If you observe yourself and don't feel any better, please see your doctor. We will get through it by God's grace.

Hubby and I got engaged Feb last year, but our wedding got delayed due to covid. I got pregnant in August.

First trimester came with different legs. From constantly spitting (this irritated me because I had to carry tissue around at work or have sweets in my mouth, I also had to keep a bottle half filled with water by my bed side at night to spit in). Then at some point it was nose bleeds. My doctor attributed this to high blood pressure which i rejected in my head. I was determined to carry my pregnancy to term withour any health issues.

Second trimester was blissful. Productivity increased at home and at work. At some point I forgot I was pregnant. Hubs and my colleagues had to constantly remind me not to do certain stuff, left to me I felt like super woman.

Fast forwad to December, two weeks to my traditional wedding I lost my dad. My world crashed before my eyes and I was afraid I would loose the baby because I was seriously affected by his death. God pulled me through that phase.

Third trimester was not so bad at first, until the pelvic pain started. The thing was painful!!! Turning in bed at night was war, at some point hubs had to help move my legs if wanted to leave bed. I continued working for fear of being left alone in the house. My colleagues at work would joke that I would give birth in the office.

I was using two hospitals for antenatal, although I had made up on where to give birth. I was scheduled for a membrane sweep at the other hospital on the 29th of April at 39 weeks. That thing can pain!!!! The gyne kept stretching my inside, I almost twisted off the table. My husband was there and he held my hand, he also had to use his body to serve as a guide so I don't fall off. After the procedure, the gyne told me cervix was not open, but it was soft so I should keep an open mind. He said the sweep was a 50 percent chance of bringing about labour, but if it failed I would be induced at 40 weeks. I had heard about how painful induction was, there was no how I was going to go through that pain

B.S continued

So when we got home, I insisted on walking to the market and preparing dinner. Later on at night, I started having mild pains. I was sweating seriously so I decided to take a shower. While in the bathroom I saw the famous bloody show and my heart leapt. I didn't want to go into labour in the middle of the night, and at the same time I was elated that the procedure worked. Thankfully, the pain was bearable so I went back to bed. All the while I was communicating with my sister, and she advised me to go to the hospital the next day.

Around 7am in the morning, hubs had gone to work, pain was gradually coming up so I chatted up the other gyne and he asked me to come to the hospital. Let's just say I strolled in, thinking I was going for check up. At some point, I got tired of waiting for him to complete his rounds so I went to buy water. When I got back in the nurses were like where have you been?? The doctor has been looking for you. They asked me to go into a room, that I was in labour. I thought the nurse was joking until they asked me to change into the hospital gown. Then I knew it was serious. I called my husband and my sister to start coming. Hubs had to go home first to get my hospital bag.

Matron came to check how far I was dilated around 11am. She said 3cm but the gyne will come confirm. I was already very sore from the membrane sweep so having them poke their fingers down there was fire. At some point when the gyne came to check again, I pretended I was asleep so he wouldn't disturb me grin, but he knew I was faking it. They passed a line, and inserted a pill down there. From that point I started to loose track of time. The pain kept increasing, but I tried to keep my cool. My sis got in before hubs, but they weren't allowed to stay in the room because there was another lady in labourin the room as well.

The gyne burst my waters and the contractions became more frequent, and much more painful. I hit everything in sight. The bedframe, the wall, everything!!! When my husband was allowed into the room, I asked him to rub my back, and when he bent down to do so I hit him really hard. I told the matron I felt like pooping, she said not to that if i do I would suffer tears in my cervix as it wasn't time yet.

I kept on shouting that I wanted to poop, so the gyne asked them to take me to the delivery room. Then they asked me to push anytime I felt like pooping. Mehn, I pooped o (I felt so embarrassed and kept apologising to the gyne). He didn't mind but told me to push harder as my efforts was weak. I was sweating seriously, i even begged the gnye that they should turn up the A.C. I couldn't push any longer and I started to panic. The matron held my hand and told me to try one more time, that the baby's head was already showing and that moment was very critical, that the baby would suffocate if I didn't push hard. I felt a prick, and heard the gnye pick up his tools, then I knew they were cutting me up. Na so I gather all the energy in the world and gave one long hard push and my baby boy was delivered. The relief I felt was out of this world!!!

They put him on my chest for a while, and took him to clean him up. I felt a prick again, before the gyne started sewing me up. Baby was born at 6.01pm on the 30th of April, birth weight 4.15kg vaginal delivery with episiotomy.

B.S submitted. Sorry it came late, i just started enjoying the 4th trimester.

Mamas, please which is better between obron 6 and pregnacare plus?

I think any prenatal vitamin is okay, depending on what works for you. I used a whole pack of Pregnacare before but now just a sachet of pregmum I bought, I'm still battling with it bcs I hate it smell. I'm planning to go back to Pregnacare when I finally finish this pregmum. I take my drug at night, so I don't notice any effect of the drug.
Go for whichever one you can easily buy when you need it.

I doubt if fibroids outside the uterus will affect pregnancy.
I've had 2 fibroids since God knows when but they hve remained the same size all thru 2 pregnancies and didn't affect my babies in any way. They don't increase in size n neither do they affect conception or pregnancy, but then a family friend who has same has a different story. She kept bleeding cos of it but thankfully Baby came out fine.

Basically I think it depends on position and size of the fibroids. Again like I always say, work wt ur Dr to know and discuss ur options so U can make the right choice.
