Where on the mainland gets 22hrs of light
Eriokanmi:
This one small nah. the flood wey i see for okota, coming from festac Friday plenti pass dis one.

A good reason I'd not live in that place called lekki. Water dem no get, light, dem no get, access roads, na just one road. They live fake lifestyle. I warned my friend working with an oil and gas a few years back to think carefully before moving into his 26m duplex ( 2014 to be precise). Each time I visit this guy and use his gents, the water would be like eruku oshodi tea colour when I flush . He spends millions treating water. He spends millions on diesel every month , when it's not an office apartment. On the mainland where I live, there's at least 22 hours power everyday, we enjoy good water and environment. Those living at lekki are simply keeping up with the joneses. My friend is now thinking of selling the building. Once it rains, he can't move in his car. He'd have to stop midway and park then wade through the flood home. His mainland new house is almost done...penny wise pound foolish I'd say.

Lekki is an overatted slum, any city built without drainage is a slum, don't care how much they pay for rent.

Lekki was a canal bt they choose to be sand filling without creating good drainage for it flowing

lying about what exactly? If its about the 22 hours power supply, it's not a lie. Come to alomosho and find out. There are estates around AIT and ahmadiya who are under 33. Ijaye ojokoro too. They enjoy 24 hours steady. 22 hours mentioned is even an understatement. Many people don't believe this happens in lagos. It's only when there's a general power outage that the residents in those areas are out of power and it won't be for too long before it's restored.

Wow, I am sorry if that landed the wrong way. It was never meant as an insult, especially to a lady.

I would have expected that at 47, you would have experienced nasty flood at Mushin at least not to mention other areas.

I do respect other people's views but facts are facts, not views. You can hardly find a safe place in Lagos when it comes to flood.

If you live in Lagos most of your life, you should not have missed that.

Most of Lagos is under sea level but I will not exchange it for anywhere.

Against, I am sorry if you find that fact as insult.

Do o!

Thank you and apology accepted..

For the record, the two places l have lived all my life as a full born Lagosian, ( by birth and parentage) are Lagos island ( was born and bred in ldunmota, schooled in Elegbaata and lsale Eko) and the second place in Lagos I'm most familiar with is Somolu, Bariga, Fila Agoro, Palm Grove , Obanikoro, Pedro and environs where l have lived as adult for the past 30 years..

I made the comment out of bias as a resident who had witnessed massive flooding in those areas and has also seen its transformation to floodless ( well, very recently)..

Also, l need to mention Epe, my home town from father's side..I notice because it is an uphill town, it hardly experiences flooding ( Well, my home in Epe is sited on a hill part of the city )

However, my mother's hometown of lkorodu township? Ha! That one is WaterLand l hear..

Anyway, l mention these because , yes, Lagos is built on and around water but there are still certain areas that fair better when it rains..

May you not be blind and be deceived by all manners of scientific lies and deception
When God executes wrath, science will look for a term for it and will be looking for solution instead of thinking of what people had done to bring about the wrath.

The same people that have been talking of global warming are the ones trying to reduce the population and trying to cover the sun.
Foolishness leading to end time period.

I'm not lying ok? Where in alimosho that's bushy? Have you been to AIT area before? Obviously you don't even know what you're talking about. The estate opposite AIT is flooded by directors of ministeries at alausa. The immediate past surveyor general of lagos state in person of Mr ayansiji is my neighbour...the estate was acquired by Lagos state govt. Why not pay a visit instead of doubting? All the roads leading there are well tarred and lit. All thanks to ambode. Your comment is a proof many moniker on nl don't go out yet, they claim they live in lagos and anytime you talk about some happenings in lagos, they say its a lie instead of admitting they don't go out. I wonder where there's Bush in alimosho lol

Oh so the estates of Lekki are inhabited by destitutes and refugees eh?, that PHCn wont give them light abi?

I hate it when people bring class segregation into a discussion.

So what i said about lekki is false abi? Dad has a house inside okunu Estate, not far from manor house if you know the place well. He had to sell it out. If you have your millions to burn all in the name of creating the class that is not even there, lekki is the best place for you.

For me, I can't live there and its not because I don't have the money...I've properties in lagos. I have 2 flats which I rented out inside 1004 estate. I'm not a poor man and I can say it boldly anywhere. What you want may not be what I want. If I want to travel , I don't have to leave my house as early as 5am to avoid traffic, going to the airport. By the time I get to the airport, lekki guys are still struggling with traffic...I hate traffic. When it rains, they live like scavengers in spite of their money. Just drive here on a weekend to AIT area and enjoy the serenity. No noise pollution nothing. What's life when you get home only to be greeted by your neighbour's gen sound after the day's work stress?

You miss my point, it is not the fault of the residents that the area is flood prone.

When you say flooding problems, I don't think that it's a truthful assessment. Everywhere has flash floods that when it rains, it builds up and quickly disappears. I passed through first gate on Friday at 5.50pm precisely , and it wasn't flooded any bit and at that same time, Marina was still flooded.

Flash floods , flooding they re the same , just that the latter may take a longer time for the waters to recede.

A good draining system wont let water stand on the road.

ooh. Yea. You're right. But homeowners are aware from the onset. Cost of sand filling alone in some areas is enough to erect a building

That is true people are just looking for where to stay that is safe and secure.

If seaports in other states were allowed to operate like Lagos , most of these problems will go away.
