I'm from that church, born and raised.

I'm not a christian so I dont owe them any allegiance, but quite frankly I dont see what the church did wrong .

That church makes a lot of capital investment into their infrastructure and they don't do the parish model that you have in redeemed, at least not in Naija. Sunday services are broadcast from HQ in Otta to their satellite buildings in Lagos, so there's nothing like 'area congregation'. I dont know if they still do it, but I know back in the day the Church used to run a full fleet of buses to transport members to church for free from all across Lagos.

There are two kinds of pastors in that church, volunteers and fulltime. If you want to preach for the love of God without being paid for it, you can attend WOFBI, be ordained as a pastor and be able to preach at different winners services without collecting a dime. That one is between you and God. However, if you're on a salary then you are being paid to meet certain obligations and if you dont meet them, you MUST be sacked. It's not manna from heaven that is paying your salary, it's church income, and they must be able to deploy their capital with maximum efficiency.

If you accept to collect salary from a church as a pastor, then you must accept a quota of souls to be converted to the brand. If you dont meet up then geddifok and go and open your own slow growing church.

You do not do the same in a church. I understand what you mean in practice, but really, offering is a voluntary donation not a payment for goods and services, and you can go to church and pray to God without paying a dime.

You dont know Oyedepo . Scared for what exactly? This man's first church was established in Kaduna and he has had several run-ins with muslims looking to burn his church etc. He's a converted muslim himself, and he has been an outspoken critic of the Buhari government since before the man came to power. This guy is battle tested.

He also does not rely on political patronage for anything. He doesn't need funds from anybody. His following is so avid that he's selling out a 50k auditorium 4 times every sunday. The man has like 7 private jets. This is a video of the church property....in Texas. He has several all over the world, including at least 14 here in the UK that they own not rent

Let me tell you why I think the church should be heavily taxed..
My late dad who was an active member of the Catholic church.. this man participated actively in the church, he was the former secretary of the Catholic men organisation of the church..

Do you know before he is allowed to be buried, there is this paper we were meant to sign.. the paper contains signatures of various Catholic heads..from his age grade group, to his ward group down to the rev father before he is been allowed to be buried by the priest in his own church..
Now of all these signature',a partry sum of money is required..
They billed us 28k for his age grade, 5k for his ward,5k for the general CMO..
Then the priest who is supposed to be the chief celebrant billed us 10k for him to celebrate the mass..

Although this has been norm in the church even before his demise..thoor he used to kick against this when he was alive but he couldn't achieve anything but backlashes..
Tell me why an active participant has to go through these hurdles before been buried in his own church which he dedicated active time to serve..

And funny still, his bills was low because he participated in church activities.. they said if he hadn't participated, it would have been more heavier bills and fines..

The day I went through these, that day I started a heresy in my statues and my walls people were wondering if it's me(an ex seminarian) or another person that was writing that..
I even told my priest friend in Italy about it and he didn't seem surprised as he said he has tried talking to his Nigerian counterparts but it seems he appeared odd on it..
That over there in EU, any priest found collecting money for burials and stuffs, will definitely go in for it and suspended if need be..
He even cited me a Bible quotation condemning this very act..
But greed and hypocrisy has eaten deep into us here in Nigeria and Africa..worst still penetrating the said churches that should be a bridge and gap and also a resting place for the poor..
Absurd if you ask me..
