ProJectAnatot: Nothing is expensive. Any nation that makes an expensive mistake by electing the wrong president should never complain. Since Buhari came in, everything became cheap. A dollar is now 1 Naira. You people should stop complaining and learn to enjoy the change. 2 Likes 3 Shares |

skywalker240: The key to success and I must share this secret with you which is uncommon but which should be adopted at all levels including government is to move investment off shore where there is stability and potential foreign exchange earnings. Do your hustle or whatever you call it but invest a portion of your earnings abroad till this economy stabilises (that is, inflation returns to a single digit) and productivity levels rise once more. Then the cost of living then begins to fall in your case. |

ProJectAnatot: . Okay, make we try. Firstly, I don't want to sound negative but the fact is, achieving the U.S standard of living and that of most developed nations is unrealistic, based on projections of future resource availability and population growth. With declining resources throughout the world, the ability to import foreign resources will be difficult with time. How long are we going to import food to feed our growing population? We have a growing population to feed and as you can see, the bulk of the limited resources are in the hands of few(corrupt politicians, stupid top security officials and the greedy capitalists) who have failed to provide the common man with the following e.g cheap food(subsidized agriculture), secure life and property(farm land) and infrastructure (ease of transporting produce). Normally, the good thing about inflation is, if prices of commodities are going up(not too high) then the economy is doing well. That means people have disposable income and are spending. This is not the case of Nigeria (low income, slow growth and inflation = disaster) Now, human behavior demonstrates a strong will to survive and would do rational and irrational things to achieve that. As it stands, I believe you might have seen stat' from Nigerian bureau of statistics(NBS) on unemployment and underemployment. Such reality can only translate data into "low or no income(unemployed) and slow growth(underemployed) in the economy of a society". As population continues to expand in the middle of No - low income and slow growth, people become desperate and start looking for people with resources. Just see the Nigerian state today. A lot of petty thieves, yahoo yahoo, armed rubbers, herdsmen/farmers clash, bandits and boko haram kidnapping for resources etc. Most foreign investors won't risk their investments in a place like that. So, that equals to less or no job(s) added. The criminal elements will continue to find people with resources. The environment becomes insecure because kidnappers, thieves and armed rubbers are looking for available bags to snatch and probably maim or kill the victim in the process. Corrupt politians and stupid security men are not helping matters, they think of themselves and what they can get out of the system. After all, recent attacks of bandits, boko boys and kidnappers have shown that their own security is not certain, too. Politicians must start by dividing the limited resources among more people if they want to reduce crime. Don't only look for more ways to steal the limited taxpayers money in order to maintain a flamboyant and wasteful lifestyle. Eh go hot for una when hungry angry mouths full around una. Na tu tear una apart. Again, those Small, medium and big enterprise with over ambitious and selfish character increasing prices anyhow. Yes, we know capitalism is all about profit, but your crooked ways of overpricing contributed to the current inflation. Security officials should take the war to criminal herdsmen, bandits and boko haram so that people every man and woman can return to their farm. That is your job. Not stopping and forcing goods owner to give you money on the highways(they are also part of the cause of price increase). Shey gov' no dey pay una salary? Wicked and stupid fvcks. Lastly, we have evolved to be more insatiable than our ancestors, and it has alot to do with the limited resouces. We are a generation of more spicy/ tasty nutritional food. Abi, you no dey see fat people everywhere.. The growing population need these foods. We drink portable water, beer and soda everyday. The hedonistic mentality aided by social media is another thing.. Example, see me ryding my Bentley, my this and that are better than yours. This comparison dey spark others to get their own, too. With what I have seen and how everyone wants to ball(chill) big time and real quick, from kidnappers, ritualists, yahoo yahoo, armed rubbers, bandits, boko haram, agitators fighting for their own money, corrupt officials in low and high places, then I can only say the future is 1 Like |

If you earn in $$$ you won't notice. As commodities rise, dollar rate rises. $100 used to be 35k now its 50k, $10,000 used to be 3.5m, now it's 5m. Funny thing is how some rich people still come out to speak and protest on your behalf and una go still slam them. Call them names! Make una enjoy, I really don't care. 6 Likes 1 Share |

You will find out 70% of the products are manufactured in Nigeria. From soap to ketchup etc. We import no more than other countries doing well. Certainly there are other reasons the country is tanking. 3 Likes |

There are many factors that have caused the dire economic situation (which is telling in skyrocketed food prices) we are all suffering in this country. 1) Terrorists running amok unchallenged in the far North and North Central thereby affecting key states that produce a bulk of the food we eat. 2) Bad roads 3) This administration devalued the Naira. Coupled with the perpetual borrowing of money they often do, it has rendered our economy useless and destroyed our credit worthiness. But crucially to define our problem. It is just poor leadership. Our government/leaders have hurt the country so badly with their maladministration. We are in deep trouble. |

Starboytwo: Ban on importation of food greatly contributed to this soaring prices since Nigerians refused to grow what they eat even when the ban was already in place. Buhari should encourage and support farm mechanisation across the country 1 Like |
