skywalker240: Like I said, to each his own. No need for long talk. Buhari will not be president forever. And even if worse than Buhari comes, some of us are built to survive any weather. You are free to japa bro, it's a free world and I wish you all the best in that regard. But as for me personally, we die here. 4 Likes |

Ola17: High immorality? Immorality in my own view is doing what is not moral. Government officials/public servants/ civil servants embezzling monies meant for the socio-economic development of Nigerians is immoral. And this immorality is rife in this our space. |

Ovis1302: Wouldn't corruption be a better term for it? I doubt if anyone can charged be to court on the grounds of immorality as that term is relative. |

Sonnobax15:The running cost of businesses create an increase in the price of goods.Dollar exchange rate has increase.Business owners need the dollar to source for raw materials abroad to run their businesses.Buhari"s government has increased VAT which has also affect the price of goods.Fuel price has increased.Business owners need fuel to run their business as well.Insecurity across the country has also affect the price of goods. You are saying buhari is not the cause.Who is?Do you also remember that Buhari had said he would take a very harsh decision that would affect Nigerians?Maybe you live in aso rock where all expenses are being paid through paid purse. |

ProJectAnatot: There is nothing rocket science about understanding the reason for the high costs of commodities in Nigeria, and elsewhere. The global economic lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 is chiefly responsible for all of it. Only a child would downplay the implication of shutting down the world's economy for several months. What do we expect? That everything will just bounce back overnight after several months of lockdown? |

Regardless: Why will they hear you when they were Sai baba’ing and Atikulating? Look at credibility, competence and track record of developmental achievements. No! Nigerians prefer to look at ethnic, religious and political affiliations instead. Well, we all reaping what has been sown. |

Tokskob2008: Sorry God cannot do for you what he has already given you the power to do for yourself. Having good leaders in power is in our hands, God would not do that for us. But when it comes to elections, instead of looking out for credibility, competence and track records of developmental achievements, you people prefer to vote for candidates based on ethnic, religious and political affiliations. This is the result you get, in competent idiiots ruling you. So lets all reap what the idiiotic majority of us sowed and hope we all make a better decision in 2023. |

Temptee101: Yep! Bandits, Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram would all surrender their weapons and repent from their old ways immediately Kanu and Igboho are tried and jailed. Insecurity, poor education system, epileptic power sector, dead infrastructural system and corruption would all be a thing of the past immediately they are convicted. What a useless country! 1 Like |

Our problem is not analysis. What we have is an attitudinal problem and frankly, it'll take a miracle for our problems to subside. 1. We measure success solely by the amount of wealth one displays hence, people are desperate to flaunt wealth by spending. High expenditure implies high inflation rate. 2. Number 1 above would've been neutralised by investors producing more but unfortunately, we import most of our goods. 3. The government ordinarily can correct this anomaly by encouraging investors with tax holidays, subsidies on raw materials, etc. but these are capital intensive projects that will reduce income and won't give them immediate gains. So, they rather borrow, inflate budgets on shadow projects and spend the syphoned money on more foreign goods. 4. Insecurity means farmers can't go to farms and transporters have to avoid some roads. This leads to scarcity which in turn leads to higher prices... I hope with these few points of mine I've been able to convince and not confuse you that the future of this country is bleak and requires prayer and hardwork. |

Activist001: well, you have a right to your opinions, and you have a right to be optimistic , but you have to respect the right of others to lose hope or be pessimistic..you dont have to insult anyone to make urself feel better. you are talking about accountability..do you honestly think the nutters in power want to be held accountable.? the same people that set out live bullet gun wielding security agents on its own peaceful protesters. do you think they will allow any accountability..you can continue to live in your fool's paradise in your head by all means.. but live the rest of us who are tired and weak and who would like to reset. Nigeria is white man's creation...the oyibo that created pencil also create eraser..it should nt be a do or die affair.. |

freshalien:"Economists and analysts in the house is there any particular reason for this fast inflation... Is it oil?, naira? Incompetence? Or even corruption? Fulani herdsmen? flood? I am really being sincere with my question!" He is living in the East and he didn't mention Ipob the onions thieves as one of the possible reason but went ahead to mention incompetence, corruption and herdsmen as reason for inflation in the East where is living, is that not hypocrisy? |

vcente: Solutions: 1. Focus on a viable economic plan (especially sectors with immense scalability prospects like technology and manufacturing). Create free trade zones across the nation, and attract foreign investments with 20 year zero taxation offers like Dangote allegedly enjoys. Toyota and Twitter chose to setup shop in Ghana for a reason. Innoson at Nnewi has the potential to start building electric cars if the right policies are in place. 2. Invest in infrastructure (although we are doing it wrongly by taking Chinese loans). This will be directly tied to solution 1. Foreign investors will partly fund this. Also, why hasn't the Nigerian government invested in sea ports at Rivers and Akwa Ibom? Politics of course 3. Cut down on government spending, especially on the National Assembly. The annual expenditure on 109 senators + 363 reps is overbearing. This one is almost impossible to implement anyway. On a side note, do you know that the NNPC is taking a $2.5B loan to buy a 20% stake in Dangote's refinery? What happened with the plan of refurbishing the Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries to boost the countries local supply of Petroleum products? Simply because of politics - this is the only way the North can officially payback Dangote's initial investment in the refinery project. https://www.thecable.ng/report-nnpc-mulls-2-5bn-loan-facility-for-stake-in-dangote-refinery/amp |
