Imagine a small village Bini daring to look the Igbos in the eye. I don't blame them,
I blame this stupid contraption called Nigeria. The only tribe Igbos compete with is Yorubas. The rest of the tribes are inconsequential.

Many Ikas you see today especially the elite are from mainly ancient royal houses Even right from the time of Ogisos.

In agbor today, after the dein then Jim Ovia family is the most powerful by tradition .Jim Ovia himself is an Ika man of bini ancestry.

Even Okowa, their family came from benin.

The founders of Idumesah are Esan people from Ugboha led by a certain man I can't remember his name now.....My mother is that lineage.

Later Ndokwa and Aniocha people settled among the esan who came first.

In Idumesah today, there is one quarter that produce the Okparu-Uku(Big Okpara) and the 3 quarters will produce their okpara to lead them.

Even there are older people in other three quarter, they can be crown okpara-uku.It is only people from my quarters that must get that position.Once you crown the okpara of that my mum quarter, authomatically you become Okpara-Uku of them entire Idumesah.

Other okparas in the other 3 quarters may be your senior by age but they must pay homage to you as their new leader.Just like in UAE were the king of abu-dhabi becomes the president of the country automatically when he become the king.

Initially Idumesah was made up of 7 quarters, but people in the three quarter letter return to were they came from, some remained and resettled among the modern 4 quarters of today.

My mother and her people are given that priviledge because their ancestor from ughoha settled first before the Ndokwa and aniocha people..
Keep quiet okowa said publicly that he is an Igbo man, do you know his heritage more than him?

Haha! Dreamer. Who did you conquer and took as slaves? What battles did you fight? Did you even have an established monarchial system? When the British came, while the Binis fought and stood firm, didn’t you bend over and took it all?

Or why do you think the catholic culture and priesthood is well rooted in igbos than anywhere else in the south even though they crossed several southern tribes to get to you. You couldn’t resist, after you heard of the fall of your masters - bini throne to the British, you bent over easily. You took it all.

IGBO SLAVES AMONG THE ITSEKIRI?

So yesterday, an Itsekiri fellow on Facebook made the interesting claim that his people had many (emphasis on 'many') Igbo slaves. He went further to say that some of the descendants of these Igbo slaves still live in Delta State, and speak a hybrid language which he refused to mention. In the interest of intellectual discourse he probably should have mentioned it, and given interested parties the opportunity to verify or debunk the claims.

As far as the ethnic backgrounds of slaves in Itsekiri land is concerned, this is what the historian P. C. Lloyd wrote in his paper, "The Itsekiri in the Nineteenth Century: An Outline Social History":

Lloyd wrote: "A further change in Itsekiri social structure during the century was the development of domestic slavery. At the turn of the century the king held a large number of slaves, but the number owned by the chiefs is not known. The kingdom must have exported at least a thousand slaves annually. But with the decline of the slave trade, the supply did not cease, and slaves were integrated into the Itsekiri economy. Thus of Jakpa's 5000 people, Burton estimated that 600 - 700 were slaves of Diare. Olomu's slaves were variously numbered at 1000, 3000 and 4000.

"The slaves were never Itsekiri, rarely Ijoh. Most were Urhobo, often being men and women expelled from their communities for serious offences and sold in the riverside markets. Some were given to the Itsekiri as pledges for debts. The Itsekiri usually equate the price of a slave with a puncheon of oil. They assert that they never went to a war to capture slaves, though a favourite method of settling a debt or a quarrel was to seize a man's slaves. Other slaves came through the trade routes from Benin and Yoruba country where they had been captured in inter-tribal wars. Nana's most senior slaves were Ologun, a Yoruba, and Sagay, a Benin."

*Sagay is very clearly a corruption of the Bini name Osagie.

So there you have it. Itsekiri's slaves came primarily from the Urhobo; secondarily from the Yoruba and the Bini; and sometimes (though rarely) from the Ijọ. These are the people in the same geographical area as the Itsekiri and the people with whom they were involved in regular interactions. But our Itsekiri friend went over the heads of his neighbours to look for slaves among the Igbos located farther away.

I was going to just laugh at the story and go on with my business, but I realized there are Igbo people who may not be informed enough to see that this man lied through his teeth, hence my decision to talk about it here.

Not new style. It was what brought Bini into Biafra map. Now we call it Idu (Igodomigodo) . It was our land and we must claim it.
They now have no option but to Fight 40m Ndigbo with their almost 2m population.
If you have noticed, they have stopped but it is already too late. We need land and coast.
Ijaws handed over Ubani and Opobo that we have almost forgotten back to us when they tried to claim Ndoki.
Now we are having Warri on a platter of Gold. They said they took it from us, so it is natural for us to come back for it.
As from today, Warri becomes a permanent integral part of Igboland.

catholism was spread during the Nigerian/Biafra war, it wasn’t by conquest. Most of the missionaries are from Ireland and Poland. None of them are British. We excepted it by faith not by force.

The Africa there is enough homage to their roots, I have never heard an African American deny that their ancestors were brought from Africa, but nnamdi from rivers state will say I'm not igbo, I'm ikwerri we are a distinct ethnic group from igbo we migrated from bini
Are you aware that Davidos son with Chioma bears Ifeanyi? Is that child an Igbo person?
You might have an English name are you an English person?
Do you know 40% of Nigerians speaks only pidgin English and no other lànguage?
Stop your obsession with and hatred for Ikwerre people.
We have never been Igbo. Ikwerre people consider themselves superior. Rubbing Igbo on them is the greatest disservice you can offer to an Ikwerre person.
It is Nnamdi Kanu that brought about this new argument. Ask your dad if Igbos had ever considered Ikwerre as Igbos before Kanu era?
We learnt Igbo in school and we are still
Learning.

Every tribe in the south have claimed to have once kept Igbo slaves in times past. Na wah, Igbos una see una life??. Every 10kobo tribe once had Igbo slaves.
I'm not denying that fact, ikwerre is one of those igbos once owned by the bini's same as the aniomas, all igbos in South South were once slaves

Respect yourself and stop disagracing Igbos.
Reno is referring to Ika which he doesn't recognise as a tribe but descendants of Igbo slaves and therefore full blooded Igbos.
Calm down and stay on one lane, Ika is subgroup of the Igbo tribe just like Ikwerre or Mbaise or Awka etc

At the height of the Bini reign, they literary own almost every other tribes (NOT SLAVES) and dictate to them. Urhobos, Itsekiris, even the Yorubas. But every tribe does have their strong points!

Idumota area in Lagos is the name of a bini princess! Ironically, modern day Benin is a shadow of what the Bini kingdom use to be!
